Batman 1989 Diamond Luxe Edition
on January 15, 2015
Posted by: rockband2
from Honolulu, HI
1989 Batman now comes in a beautifully Blu-Ray Diamond Luxe Edition Unlike its regular and/or steelbook case, this Diamond Luxe Edition is much better and heavier when I hold it. I bought it when it was released on December 9, 2014 as a Christmas gift, and I love it. It is one of my favorite Batman movies, and I am a Batman fan. I can now add the Blu-Ray Diamond Luxe Edition to my collection.

The Beatles Anthology project (ultimately comprising audio, video, and book aspects) initially reached the public during the week of Thanksgiving 1995, with the first of three two-hour television specials broadcast Sunday, November 19, followed by the first of three two-CD sets of outtakes of the group's recordings released Tuesday, November 21. The TV portion continued on Wednesday and concluded on Thanksgiving. The second CD set was released in March 1996, with the third coming in October, while in September the VHS version of this video set was released. (A coffee-table book was published in 2000.) It expanded enormously on the original TV broadcast, which ran six hours including commercials. The home-video version had eight episodes, each running between 71 and 81 minutes, for a total length just short of ten hours, which just about doubled the running time. (The 2003 DVD reissue contains five discs, with two episodes per disc, plus an 81-minute bonus disc containing extra material.) At the longer length, the story is the same, a roughly chronological history of the Beatles from their beginnings in Liverpool, England, to worldwide fame and their breakup at the end of the 1960s. Except for brief newsreel-like recitations, there is no overall narrative, just interviews with the three Beatles then still alive (John Lennon's comments are culled from his numerous press interviews over the years), along with three key associates: Neil Aspinall (who began as their roadie and went on to run their company, Apple); Derek Taylor (their press representative); and George Martin (their record producer). As a video autobiography, the film shares the advantages and disadvantages of autobiographies, in general. On the plus side, there is lots of rare footage of the Beatles performing and, of course, their music is used extensively. On the minus side, there are occasional factual errors; there is little historical perspective (for example, there is no discussion at all of the development of the Beatle haircut and its effect on their career and on men's grooming, though this matter is addressed briefly in one of the segments on the bonus DVD); and, in telling their own story from their own perspective, the Beatles largely ignore other perspectives. They do not, for instance, ask dismissed drummer Pete Best for his side of the story. Lennon's remarks are characteristically incisive, while Paul McCartney comes off as a charming self-promoter, Ringo Starr is relentlessly sunny for the most part, and George Harrison can be smug and sarcastic. The group's history was well-documented on film, and much of that film has been obtained and used, so the viewer gets a good look at what happened. With ten hours to fill, the story unfolds gradually, with frequent stops for full-length musical segments, excerpts from radio shows, and studio chatter. This is not really the place to start in learning the Beatles' story; frequently, the interviewees provide details on a story they assume viewers already know the gist of, rather than explaining the basic facts. But it is, of course, a treasure trove for Beatles fans, providing large amounts of rare and previously unseen audio and video material on the group. The bonus DVD adds to this particularly by providing extra footage of Harrison, McCartney, and Starr together in 1994-1995, reminiscing and playing some impromptu tunes.

The Beatles in their own words.

The Beatles Anthology DVD box set is one of my favorite collection set. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr tell their side of the story in their own words and describes every details on what it was like being a Beatles from the beginning to the end. All of their music are here in this DVD box set including two new Beatles songs: FREE AS A BIRD and REAL LOVE. This is the Beatles in their own words. I still love the Beatles. YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!

Help! is on its way on Blu-ray disc

The Beatles second movie HELP! is on Blu-ray disc. The picture is much clearer, better, and sharper than the 1965 picture. The music is also much better, bigger, louder, and sharper in stereo. Like the first movie A HARD DAY'S NIGHT, HELP! is also my favorite Beatles movie.

The Beatles movie A HARD DAY'S NIGHT marks the 50th anniversary of the day when the Fab Four arrived in the U.S. and their first feature film ever. I remembered when I was a 3 years old, my parents, my relatives, and I went to the old drive-in theatre to watch A HARD DAY'S NIGHT. I became a huge Beatles fan at a young age. I saw the movie approximately 100 times. When I heard that the movie A HARD DAY'S NIGHT would be re-released and remastered on the Blu-ray/DVD Criterion Collection on June 24, 2014, it landed on my birthday. It was the best birthday present ever. I still love the Beatles. YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!

Once Upon A Time...Or Maybe Twice

Beatles fans including myself who grew up watching this movie when it was released in 1968 can enjoy watching it on Blu-ray with their children, grandchildren and babies. From one generation to the next generation of Beatles fans, this is for the entire family. They will know who the Blue Meanies, the Glove, Old Fred, the bulldogs, and of course, Jeremy. Yellow Submarine is a timeless cartoon film, which Disney never even asked to make a movie based on a Beatles song. Yellow Submarine is one of my favorite Beatles films.

Batman: The Complete Television Series on Blu-Ray

NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA-NA BATMAN! Holy Blu-Ray box set, Batman! After years or decades, it's finally here. Batman: The Complete Television Series has arrived on Blu-Ray discs box set. To those who bought the limited edition Blu-Ray box set with the Hot Wheel Batmobile toy and the trading cards will also want to buy the regular Blu-Ray box set. Batman: The Complete Television Series is fully remastered in High Definition. The picture is much better, clearer, sharper, and louder than the original 1966 version. It just like you are watching a brand new Batman television show again. I grew up watching the Batman television series. Now that it is on Blu-Ray or DVD discs, I don't have to watch it on MeTV or IFC with all commercial interruption ever again. Yes, I bought both the DVD and regular Blu-Ray discs, not the limited edition, to my collection box set. Batman is my favorite television show.

Batman: The Motion Picture Anthology 1989-1997
on December 26, 2014

from Honolulu, HI
Before Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy, there were four Batman film: Batman (1989), Batman Returns (1992), Batman Forever (1995), and Batman & Robin (1997). The first Batman movie starring Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton is the best movie ever. Jack Nicholson who plays the Joker stole the show which would have been retitled the Joker. He is the best Joker along with Heath Ledger. Michael Keaton whom Batman fans thought Director Tim Burton made a huge mistake into casting him as the Dark Knight, turned out he did an excellent job as Batman. The second movie Batman Returns is also a good movie. Michael Keaton once again reprise his role as Batman and this time he is going against two new villains: The Penguin and the Catwoman. Some movie goers thought this movie is too scary for small children. It turns out the movie is based on the DC comic book. The third movie Batman Forever is okay, but does not have Michael Keaton and Director Tim Burton. Val Kilmer was okay, but not as good as Michael Keaton. Chris O'Connell plays Robin. Director Joel Schumacher took the director's chair and wanted to make this movie much brighter or lighter than the other two movie. The fourth movie Batman & Robin is the worst movie ever. George Clooney took over as Batman replacing Val Kilmer. This movie was worst because they wanted to make this move like the Batman television series. We had to wait eight years till Christopher Nolan takes over the role as director in the next movie called Batman Begins, followed by the Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises, which became the most popular motion picture trilogy ever. Batman: The Motion Picture Anthology 1989-1997 is an excellent Blu-Ray collection box set for Batman fans who also the DVD collection box set. After all, he is BATMAN!

Star Trek: The Original Motion Picture Collection
on December 18, 2014
Posted by: rockband2
from Honolulu, HI
Star Trek: The Original Motion Picture Collection is available on Blu-Ray and DVD. Ten years after the original show ended in 1969, Star Trek fans or Trekkies had been waited for the original cast and crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise to return on the big screen. Although Star Trek: The Motion Picture wasn't a blockbuster hit in 1979, it did bring back most of the original cast on the big screen. I was a bit disappointed that the Director's Edition wasn't included in this box set, but the original version was. After Star Trek: The Motion Picture, fans were wondering will there be a sequel. The answer was "Yes!" Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan was better than the first film. They should had made this the first film instead of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Star Trek II didn't include the additional scene that was included in the last DVD, but it was restored and remastered for better picture and sound quality and High Definition. Star Trek III: The Search For Spock continues where Star Trek II left off and it was a good movie. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home was my favorite of the Star Trek movie and continues where Star Trek III left off. It was the best Star Trek film and the funniest movie ever. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier was the worst movie ever. The special effects and the scripts weren't that good. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country was a good film. The movie didn't included the additional scene that was included in the last DVD. Although this was supposed to be the final voyage of the original crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, that will have to wait till 2009 to get the original crew back on the big screen. This time the new Star Trek movie introduced the new actors playing Kirk, Spock, Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy, Scotty, Sulu, Uhura, and Chekov. Space, the final frontier, these are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise, its five year mission to explore strange new world, to seek out new life and new civilization, to boldly go where no man has gone before. The adventures continue...

Wings over America: The Movie
on December 18, 2014
Posted by: rockband2
from Honolulu, HI
After the Beatles performed their last US concert in 1966 in San Francisco, Paul McCartney returned to the States with his own band Wings and performed in front of the sold out concert show. Rockshow is the concert movie that was first shown in 1980 during the 1976 Wings over America tour. When it was first released, there were some of the songs not included in the film due to the time length. Let Me Roll It, Spirits of Ancient Egypt, Call Me Back Again, Picasso's Last Stand (Drink to Me), Richard Cory, You Gave Me The Answer, Magneto and Titanium Man, Time to Hide, and Beware My Love are some of the songs that were not including until the movie is finally released and remastered on Blu-Ray and DVD. Rockshow is the ultimate rock concert of 1976.

THE BEATLES STEREO BOX SET
June 2, 2014
YEAH, YEAH, YEAH! The Beatles Stereo Box Set has been remastered and is bigger, better, stronger, clearer, and louder than the original CD albums that was released in 1987. Once you hear the remastered version of the entire 13 Beatles albums in one box set, you will it hear like it is a brand new Beatles song.

Batman Complete Television Series on Blu-ray
By rockband2 from Honolulu, HI
In addition to the Batman Complete Television Series on DVD and the other Blu-ray disc box set that I bought for Christmas, I thought why don't I buy Batman: The Complete Television Series on Blu-ray limited edition to my collection set. So that way I can keep all three of them in my closet. That's fine with me. After all, I am still a Batman fan.
