Night Owl is excited to offer our U.S. designed and engineered 4K Wi-Fi Bluetooth Network Video Recorder with Wi-Fi IP 4K Spotlight Cameras and Pre-Installed Hard Drive. With secure app-based Bluetooth setup, there is no need to connect a TV or monitor for setup or viewing (optional). You can easily configure your system right from the app on your smartphone or tablet with the Bluetooth connection. While a TV or monitor is not required, with Google Assistant you can use simple voice commands to stream camera footage directly to your TV or monitor, all while remaining hands free. Each camera has 2-Way audio (talk and listen) as well as a built-in siren and preset voice alerts. From within the app, you can easily activate the built-in siren, startling intruders and sending them packing. Have a guest but can’t get to them? Use a preset voice alert to let them know! Smart detection technology including human detection, facial capture, and vehicle alerts reduce the risk of false alarms, keeping you safe and well protected. Facial capture lets you see who is on your property by snapping a photo and sending the image to your Smart Device. Motion-activated dual spotlights flood your yard with bright lights when human motion is detected, instantly warding off trespassers. Proudly designed and engineered in the USA, our security system uses a built-in wireless connection for uninterrupted viewing with no delays. Our app gives you control of your system and easy access to your recordings, regardless of where you are. Night Owl never charges fees for storage or access to your videos. All recordings are securely stored on a pre-installed hard drive for convenience. You can view and download the recordings as you need them. This system provides the latest technology to give you the ultimate security experience. NOTE: Your Wi-Fi recorder is compatible with our BWNIP2 (Wire Free), WNIP2 (Wi-Fi IP) and WNIP8 (Wi-Fi IP) Series devices and is not backward compatible with other Night Owl products.

Decent Choice

This is my second Night Owl product and like the first, I am not disappointed.
Inside the box pretty simple... The NVR 1TB head unit with 10 channels, power supply, 4 camera's, antenna's, power supplies, HDMI cable, Ethernet cable, very basic mouse and obligatory documentation.
Setup was simple. Plug in, connect to network, connect with app (or live via the HDMI cable) and add camera's. Plug in camera's one at a time and they were up and running in about a minute each.
There was one camera that was bad but a relatively quick call to tech support and they sent me a new one.
The cameras have two-way audio capability but it is NOT particularly robust. Is it a tool or a gimmick? Dunno' but it's worth noting. The camera's also come with 2 LED lights hat can be set up to activate on demand, on motion, facial recognition or remain off. Again, not particularly robust lights but they may be perhaps a slight deterrence in having someone know they are being recorded. For me the lights and audio are all turned to off as I have no need for either but if it works for you, I guess it's a feature some may prefer.
The NVR is nice. 1TB can hold several days (if not weeks) worth of recording. Camera's can be named individually and previously mentioned lights and audio can be managed from there. You have the option to watch live or view recorded instances. All of those features can also be done from the app. Fairly robust in all.
The only complaint I have is in comparison to previously used wired systems... First, the video quality is very good but a slight drop-off from my wired 4K system. Second, there is a several second delay. The wired camera's view is real time whereas this is not. A deal breaker? No, just an observation worth noting.
The motion detection is good. I did not fiddle with the facial verses other motion identification because that's not a useful feature in my environment. That said, my experience with Night Owl and it probably is a decent feature if it fits your needs.
End of the day, like the title says, a decent choice. As you can see from the pictures, I have camera's currently deployed indoor and outdoor. It being a 10 channel unit, there are certainly plenty off opportunities to add camera's. Also being wireless, you can easily move and relocate camera's as needed.
I would recommend to a friend.

High Quality Massage / Recovery Tool
on October 28, 2021
Posted by: Posted1
from Niwot CO
First impressions, this is a HIGH QUALITY device. The overall feel, build and tight tolerances are top-shelf. From opening the package to being in use was less than two minutes, even on factory charge. Fired it up and was on the way... Now, let's see what this really about:
What's inside the box:
* Massager
* Charger (includes 4 total changeable plugs for International use)
* Five interchangeable heads
* Case for heads
* Information packet with quick start and user cards
The packaging and packing had a high quality and thoughtful feel. All too often, some manufacturers get "too cute by half" in packaging and in so doing, can cause some frustrations in opening and unboxing. This was clean, simple and quick but still everything was was perfectly tight and well protected. Well done, Hyperice.
Important and relevant note regarding the packaging: The main body of the package has a lower half and an upper half. The lower half is perfect for easy storage/stowage, and can be easily left in a bathroom cabinet or closet so everything can be easily stored together. And if you need to transport it (more on that later) you can easily slip on the top cover and everything is protected and sure not to be lost if you take it from home to gym or in my case, the Fire Station where the wife works. Very cool and thoughtful.
As mentioned, the unit was charged enough to do some basic experimenting but plugging it in, it was fully charged in less than 30 minutes. Manufacturer specs state that average use of battery is 3 hours.
The controls are simple, intuitive, attractive and very professional in feel. There is an on/off button (color coded red/green) on bottom and a handsome green LED (pictured) to indicate it is powered on. The speed control is a continuous "wheel" on the back that has 6 different positions:
* Standby with a blue LED
* Speed control 1-5 (1 at 9 o'clock, 5 at12 o'clock) with white LEDS
The continuous wheel can be rotated clock-wise and counter-clockwise to advance/reverse current position. Simple, clean, intuitive and attractive.
The device is Bluetooth enabled but requires the app. Downloaded the app, searched for BT devices (with unit powered on but not in use) and paired in seconds. Once it's paired, you have countless options for video guides that include automated speed control. Very cool.
As mentioned, there are 5 different heads. Swapping them out is incredibly simple. Give a solid tug to remove current head, and give a solid push to install the new. The massage heads are easily stored in a perfectly sized nylon zipper pack.
This is truly an impressive device. I have used cheaper off-brand units before and this is by orders of magnitude, above and beyond any previous experiences I have had. My only concern (and it is NO FAULT of this device) is that my wife is a Lieutenant at a major Denver Metro area fire department and I am pretty sure this will quickly become a part of her gear bag as her and her crew work out HARD while on duty. I stress, this is not a defect of the product but indeed an excellent professional endorsement.
End of the day this is an impressive and powerful quality tool. If you have a need, this is a great choice. I would (and HAVE) enthusiastically recommend to friend. Impressive.

Nest Cam with floodlight has built-in intelligence that can tell the difference between a person, a vehicle, and an animal. It alerts you when there’s important activity,* and lights up automatically so you can see what’s happening. With 24/7 live view and free event video history, you never miss a thing, day or night. Swap out your existing basic floodlight and use the same wires for power. Nest Cam with floodlight requires the Google Home app and a Google Account – it’s not compatible with the Nest app or the home.nest.com site.

Nice Cam, Better Spotlight, Minor Issue Grounding
on October 22, 2021
Posted by: Posted1
from Niwot CO
As is expected of Google products, this is a high quality camera and an excellent spotlight and even better "intelligence".
Start at the beginning: packaging had typical Google quality feel. Everything was packaged tightly, yet simple to unpack. Inside was the cam, the spotlight module and all of the mounting tools and materials most people would need. I had to improvise a little, but that is my issue and not any negative reflection on the product.
Installation was relatively simple (3 wires) and the engineers were smart enough to include a very handy "S" hook to hold the camera to the mounting bracket while wiring. Without that, it would almost certainly be a 2 person job.
As mentioned in review title, there was one issue that was relatively easy for me to work around, but for others it may have been a deal breaker. The issue is that on the mounting plate, there is a green screw that is meant for the grounding wire. For whatever reason (and I'm sure it's just a one-off) the screw was almost welded or glued in. I am 5'9" and weigh 230 and I have certainly man-handled countless stuck screws throughout my life, but this screw absolutely WOULD NOT budge. So much so, it ended being partially stripped from the screwdriver. I even used a small vice and small locking pliers and nope, it was completely locked. I was able to use an extra small screw and drilled a small hole in the base to get it done, but for some, they may not have enough experience to know how to get around it. I am curious if anyone else experienced anything similar?
Once installed, I opened up Google Home and added the new device with the supplied QR code. After connecting to the app, I connected to my Wi-Fi network and about 7 to 10 minutes later after all updates were complete, we were in business. Almost...
The camera has a note that says it's meant for wall mounting. My existing spotlight is mounted in the soffit and not in the wall. I contacted the Google support team that was provided being part of the BB TIN team and they advised that yes, it is designed to be wall mounted, if I soffit mount, there may be limitations but said to try it.
As you can see, I did mount it horizontally and it works perfectly. Important to note, initially the camera produced a picture that was 180 degrees off (upside down) but a simple setting in the Google Home app offered the opportunity to turn view 180 degrees. In less than 20 seconds of browsing the setting, I was able to correct this. Additionally, the app offers multiple setting regarding what can trigger the spotlight and cam, how long the lights will stay on etcetera. Very simple and useful.
As for the "intelligence" of the unit and app, I did several tests with humans, cars, cats and dogs and sure enough, when I turned the "animal" option off in the app and let my dogs or cats wander in front of it, it did as expected and did not trigger the lights or recording. Conversely, when I turned that option on, it was even able to pick up our very small cat and small dog. Intelligent and accurate. What we have come to expect from google.
As for the camera, I see some reviewers expected a little more from the camera. As this is my first experience with a Nest outdoor camera, I can humbly comment that I was impressed. The picture is very good in both night and day. I have no complaints.
The spotlights are impressive. My previous spotlight had the large halogen bulbs and were very bright (but not energy efficient). These lights are even brighter and use less energy. Again, I am impressed.
End of the day, this is a great camera and spotlight, especially if you are already using the Nest platform. If you are new to Nest, this is an excellent board to dive into the Nest environment.
I am glad I have this product and I would recommend it to a friend

Decent Affordable Choice

Overall, a decent choice. On opening the package, everything was well laid out and packed quite tightly. Install was simple. Download the app and it walked right through the wired installation process. From open box to mounted operational system was maybe 10 minutes. Easy money.
One very cool aspect of this device is that it can tie into your existing wired home doorbell. The installation was simple. It came with a backplate that you simply wired your two existing wires into, mount to the wall and then place the camera on. Very cool. While I love this feature, my dogs HATE it but it's nice to be anywhere in the house and know someone just pushed doorbell without having your phone near you to know. Nice feature.
The app is fairly straightforward and simple and offers a decent suite of tools. However compared to the Ring app, this one seems a little light weight but it is certainly serviceable.
The only couple issues I have is that the Blink product is a sister company to Ring, both under the Amazon umbrella. That said, I had a Ring doorbell camera at my other house and in order to use the neighborhood feature, it took me to the Ring app. I had to do some finagling to get the 2 apps setup in the correct new neighborhood. Deal breaker? No, just seemingly unnecessarily hassle.
The second minor issue I have is that I can't get into live mode from the app for some reason. The setting show that it is indeed wired into my power, but the "camera icon" that the help page shows is nowhere to be found on my app. I un-installed and re-installed to the latest version and still no "camera icon". Everything on the internet shows that camera icon, but for some reason, I do not. I have submitted a support ticket but have not heard anything back yet. For the sake of this review, I will offer the benefit of the doubt that it can get resolved but it is disappointing.
In all, a decent choice and I would recommend to a friend.

Not Very Impressed
on October 19, 2021
Posted by: Posted1
from Niwot CO
I guess I'll start at the beginning... When the package arrived, it was shipped in the factory shelf box. By that I mean it was shipped in the same box that you would walk into Best Buy today and buy off the shelf. I would have expected it to be packaged inside a shipping box but it was not. I hope the picture shows the indentation in the top of the box that received damage in shipping.
Additionally, the ENTIRE outside edges and corners of the box were all unceremoniously taped with shipping tape. When I say that (and I hope the pictures show it) it looks like some teenager taped the box for some unknown reason, almost as if the box was previously opened and then tape-slapped back together.
OK, is any of this a deal-breaker? Well no, but lets where it leads...
After many years of experience, I have come to learn that ANYTHING that is labor intensive to install ABSOLUTELY needs to be tested prior to the potential hours of effort in preparation just in case something does not work. I am SO thankful I did that with this because a couple hours of pulling cable, climbing ladders, drilling and resealing holes, I would NOT have been pleased when I figured out this does not work as advertised.
To that end, I did test it prior to "install"... Long story short, powered motor did not work. At all. When I first plugged the unit in, I expected to see one of the 3 LEDS on front light up. Nope. Nothing. OK, maybe it's my outlet? Unplugged it and plugged another device into the outlet and the other device worked fine. I tried plugging this device into another outlet and same thing. No lights lit up. OK, maybe the lights are not supposed to light up (although that sounds odd) so I inserted batteries into the remote and again, nothing worked. The advantage of this unit is that you should be able to manipulate it remotely to get as many channels as possible. Nope. Can't do it. It simply does not work.
OK, well let's see how it works as a passive antenna? I plugged everything into my TV, ran the channel scan. I got 19 channels but none were in 4K and ALL were slightly grainy. Additionally (no fault of this device) but all the programming was cruddy day-time talk type programming... Think of a talk show that rhymes with "The Few" and that's about all I got. Is 19 channels good, bad or indifferent? I don't know, but not very impressed based on advertised capabilities.
Dunno, I mean I guess I MIGHT try to use it in the RV and see if I can maybe get the occasional hockey game or something. Honestly not sure if that would be worth hauling around in the RV and the several minutes of set-up, but that's where we are.
No, I would NOT recommend to a friend.

If You Need It, Good Choice...
on October 14, 2021

This is my second Yale smart home lock device and like the first, this is a good choice if you have need.
Inside the box you'll find the master lock, several mounting options, instructions and a handy template for set up.
After loading the app, install was simple (especially with the template) and was completed in just a few minutes. After setting template, I was probably 4 minutes to fully installed and ready to associate with the app... And here is where the only minor issue occurred.
On set-up in the app, it asked me to scan the QR code. OK, no problem, except it kept telling me the S/N was not a valid SN. After several tries, I tried to set it manually and same deal, it said it was an invalid SN. I tried to call the 24/7 Tech Support number and after probably 5 to 7 minutes of listening to the music and being told an engineer would grab my call, I decided to skip this step. I hung up, chose "Skip This Step" in the app and I was up and running.
Important note, this lock is not necessarily a "strong" deterrent... It's more akin to a strong child lock. Good to be placed in medicine cabinet or where dangerous household chemicals are store. Please do not take this comment as a negative, but just a qualifier.
End of the day, I would recommend to a friend who had need.

Great Choice For Personal Use
on October 10, 2021
Posted by: Posted1
from Niwot CO
This is my 3rd opportunity to try BullGaurd so if history is a lesson, then yes, I like the product.
I have used (and am using it) on several laptops and on several Android platforms. It seems to do a very good job at finding and correcting threats. You get a discrete pop-up in the lower right corner when a threat is identified and the pop-up quickly disappears. This is appreciated as some other SW I have used practically lights up like a fire-truck in full emergen with lights and sirens blasting... OK, maybe I am exaggerating a wee bit but you get my point.
The set-up was simple, quick and light-weight. It operates in the background and uses very little PC/Android resources. The interface is clean and simple... So much so that even my 72 year-old flip-phone loving mom uses it on her tablet and laptop.
In all, this is a great choice for most any personal use and I would (and have) heartily recommend(ed) it to a friend.

Very Cool Portable Device
on October 2, 2021
Posted by: Posted1
from Niwot CO
Very cool little device. I won't get into what it has regarding ports since the product description does a great job at that already... But I will comment on the fact that it has an aluminum body so certainly has a look and feel that is far above ad beyond it's plastic competitors.
Packaging was crisp, protective, clean and simple. Unboxing included the unit, a small USB C to C chord that conveniently is stored in the body of the unit. It also includes a longer USB C/C cable as well. The longer cable is thick and also has a high quality feel. The only ever-so-slight knock (and yes, it is very small) is that the longer cable has thicker ends where you plug it in so if you have a tight phone case, it may be just slightly too large to fit. Certainly nowhere near a deal breaker, just an observation.
If you are a frequent traveler who ever finds themselves whishing you had item XXXX on you, this is a great little tool. I would recommend to a friend without any hesitation.

Little coffe maker is great...
As soon as I opened up the cardboard box, my teenage daughter was all over this thing. Before I could even open it, she had absconded with it and started her own little barista shop in our kitchen.
She has made multiple offerings from this thing... Hot, cold and in-between. All very good.
In all, a very good choice as it offers so may options, is easy to use and clean.
I would recommend it to a friend.

OK Concept, Incompatible With Many Popular Phones

I was looking forward to using this but sadly, I can not. Not compatible with my Samsung S20 5G+... Not the end of the world, I have an old Pixel 3. Charged it up, [paired it... Nope. Not compatible. OK, I'll try my sons LG. Nope. Not compatible.
Out of the box, quality feels decent, setup was simple. And that's all I can ay about it since it will not work with any phone in my house. Another note after extensive research, it seems most users note that the app and hardware are much more useful and feature rich with Apple products than with Android environment.
I'll throw in the pictures so you can see what sadly will turn into a door stop as it will not work with any phones in my in my house.
If you consider this product please learn from my mistake... Check thee compatibility of your phone.
Bummer.
