This release compiles every episode from the first season of Maverick, the western comedy series starring James Garner as an ethically dubious con man and card player making his way across the Old West, often along with his equally duplicitous brother.
"Maverick" broke all expectations of a Western hero when it was first shown ("He who fights and runs away lives to run away again another day"), and it's still as fresh and funny today. James Garner and Jack Kelly as the Maverick brothers attempt to get out of trouble without using guns - or getting killed. One of TV's very best.
What's great about it: James Garner and great scripts
What's not so great: No extras

"The Daemons" has always been considered a classic, and with good reason - it's one of those stories where everything simply meshes together beautifully. There's not a dull moment in an action-packed, fun adventure.
What's great about it: Story, acting and directing come together beautifully.
This story introduces new companion Leela - a savage on an alien world - and the Doctor discovers he's made a dreadful mistake out of arrogance. One of the cleverest scripts in the series.
What's great about it: Brilliant introduction of a new companion
What's not so great: Special effects - as usual

Doctor Who: The Talons of Weng-Chiang [Special Edition] [DVD]
The seventh story in the history of Dr. Who, The Sensorites finds the beloved time-traveler and his faithful friends find themselves trapped on a planet where they must figure out what the inscrutable inhabitants of the place want before they can get away.
From the very first season of "Doctor Who", this story pulls the viewers in with a long camera shot following our heroes into a strange ship with dead people returning to life. Nothing is what it seems and the villains turn out to be the victims... Perhaps a little slow for some tastes, but captivating.
What's great about it: The mystery.
What's not so great: Slow-paced.

Doctor Who: The Beginning Collection [3 Discs] [DVD]
This Doctor Who adventure from 1975 stars Tom Baker as the Doctor, who finds himself in the quiet, English village of Devesham - which he thinks is Sarah's home. However, they soon discover that the townspeople have all been replaced with spacemen in white suits, and that even their trusted UNIT has been taken over, leaving the two to solve the mystery on their own.
The Doctor and Sarah Jane arrive in a cheerful English village - which is completely empty. The money in the cash registers is all brand new. The calendars have only one date on them. Mystery piles on mystery - more so when the people finally arrive. And they're not real... Classic Doctor Who fun.
What's great about it: Mystery, suspense and androids
One of the best Jon Pertwee stories mixed with some of the worst special effects ever in a show known for cheap effects. The plot is fun, the story fast-paced and intriguing. But those dinosaurs... Ugh.
One of the earliest Sherlock Holmes movies, based on the William Gillette play. Barrymore makes a good Holmes, and Roland Young (in his movie debut) an endearing Watson. This is also William Powell's first film, and he's as enjoyable as ever. It may be a little slow for some people's tastes.
Many have speculated on the cataclysm (or cataclysms) that will ultimately wipe mankind from existence. But what of our world in the eons to follow? How will the eventual extinction of homo sapiens impact man-made civilization, from both short and long-term perspectives? The documentary program Life After People asks this very terrifying question and arrives at some startling conclusions by using CGI to illustrate how every aspect of humankind's "ruins" would change if men, women and children suddenly vanished. This set features three volumes containing all ten episodes from Season Two. Installments include: Wrath of God, Crypt of Civilization, {#Home Wrecked Homes], Holiday Hell, Depths of Destruction and five additional episodes. This particular version presents the series in spectacular high-definition Blu-Ray.

What would happen to the human world if everyone vanished? "Life After People" tackles that question with humor and insight. While it's interesting to see what would likely happen to buildings, art treasures, family pets and so forth without humans around to take care of them, half the fun in this series is simply in the bizarre things they reveal that exist now. Who would expect footage of food decaying in an abandoned supermarket, for example? If you like disaster movies, this is a series for you!
What's great about it: Imaginative look at a possible future.
Only six tracks - plus an extra and a video on the computer - but they're all excellent. It's worth it for "Heart Of Gold" alone, so the other tracks are added enjoyment. It's hard to stop listening to her.
