Stephen Sondheim's award-winning musical thriller comes to the big screen in this adaptation directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen, Timothy Spall, and Alan Rickman. Embittered at having been wrongly imprisoned and determined to seek vengeance against his accusers due to the grim fate that befell his wife and daughter while he was incarcerated, ex-convict Sweeney Todd (Depp) returns to his hometown and opens a modest barber shop. The one thing different about Todd's shop, however, is that no one who walks in for a trim is ever seen again. Subsequently branded "The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" by the frightened community, Todd continues with his murderous exploits with a little assistance from his amorous accomplice, Mrs. Lovett (Bonham Carter) -- whose popular meat pies secretly have a most unsavory ingredient.

Johnny Depp's finest, and a fine musical...

This is a great movie worth watching. The storyline is not revolutionary, but definitely is worth paying attention to. Johnny Depp, and Helena Bonham Carter top a very talented cast. The songs are fun to listen to. "Pretty Women", and "My Friend" are my personal favorites. If you are a fan of musicals, you must own this movie.

The public and private lives of famed songwriter Cole Porter are both explored in this musical drama, in which the aging Porter (played by Kevin Kline) looks back on his life while watching a rehearsal of a stage musical based on his story. As Porter compares notes on the play with director Gabe (Jonathan Pryce), he shares thoughts on his rise to fame in the mid-'20s, writing witty and sophisticated tunes for a string of successful Broadway musicals. Porter seemed to be living a charmed life when he met Linda Thomas (Ashley Judd), a beautiful American woman who, like Porter, was enjoying a sojourn in Paris following the collapse of her first marriage. Thomas is immediately taken with Porter, whose intelligence and charm is a welcome change after her brutal first husband, and the two discover they share a remarkable understanding of one another. Porter and Thomas marry, even though she's aware that her new husband is gay; Thomas is willing to forgive Porter's indiscretions with other men in favor of the emotional support he brings her. However, as the years wear on and the couple takes up residence in Hollywood as Porter begins writing tunes for motion pictures, Thomas finds Porter drifting away from her as his liaisons become more frequent and more serious. Then tragedy enters their life when Porter loses the use of his legs in a riding accident and Thomas is diagnosed with cancer. De-Lovely features a number of noted pop singers interpreting classic songs from Porter's catalog, including Diana Krall, Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Elvis Costello, Robbie Williams, Mick Hucknall, and others.

A lovely, heartfelt musical drama...

This movie is without a doubt one of the best musicals that has ever been released. Add that to the drama, and you have a rare movie. The plot follows Cole Porter's life, and he was a very interesting man to say the least. His music touched you, and made you feel his every word. He was a great composer, and his music will live on in time forever. The acting is top notch as Kevin Kline, and Ashley Judd give perhaps the best performances of their careers. That is a bold statement to make as Kevin Kline has made a career of establishing himself as one of the best actors in Hollywood each time he stars in a feature film. Ashley Judd is the perfect compliment as Linda Porter. You will feel her pain as their lives play out. The film also features great musical performances by artists such as Sheryl Crow, Diana Krall, Robbie Williams and many more. The DVD extras are worth watching. Two commentaries top the list. There is also an original recording by Cole Porter during the closing credits. If you are a fan of musicals, or are even interested in classical music you would be doing yourself a favor by owning this movie.

The best sandbox game that I have played...

Infamous was a pleasant suprise for me. I knew that I would like it, but I did not know that it would be as good as it is. The gameplay is fun, and exciting. The game is motion is beautiful. There are no framerate issues, or slowdown. Watching Cole's powers during a heated battle is exhilirating because of how beautiful the visuals are.The length is long. I have mostly been collecting blast shards, and fighting enemies. You can spend hours just tolling around exploring without even touching the main missions. Infamous is without a doubt one of the best reasons to own a PS3. If you do own one, you owe it to yourself to experience a game this fun.

Due in large part to it opening the same weekend as The Matrix Reloaded, Down With Love, Peyton Reed's knowing homage to the Doris Day/Rock Hudson romantic comedies, found little traction at the box office. This woefully underappreciated film gets a superb DVD release from 20th Centurey Fox that will hopefully help it find the audience it richly deserves. The film is presented in a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. The colors in this film popped off the screen and the transfer has expertly captured their vibrancy. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while Spanish and French soundtracks have been recorded in Dolby Digital Surround. English and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary recorded by director Reed. He is full of praise for his hard-working cast, and delivers a ceaseless series of anecdotes about how his film is similar to and different from the films it is paying homage to. Deleted scenes, with optional director commentary, a series of making-of featurettes, a gag reel, and a making-of special that originally aired on HBO round out this excellent package. The icing on the cake is the music video for "Here's To Love," the song number performed by stars Ewan McGreggor and Renée Zellweger.

This movie is one of the most clever comedies ever. The script is genius, and the subtle and sarcastic jokes will have you smiling. Renee Zellweger, and Ewan McGregor are great actors who portray their characters perfectly. David Hyde Pierce, and Sarah Paulson play excellent secondary roles. The movie is not for everyone. That in no way means that it is bad. Some people will just find it too be too cheesy maybe, or not get the jokes. If you like clever romantic comedies though, you can not afford to miss this movie...

EMINEM is back..

As my summary implied Eminem is back, and is at his best. This album sounds nothing like "Relapse". This is an indication of where his mind is, and where he is in his life. The entire album is fun to listen to. The lyrical quality is comparable to, or better than "The Eminem Show". The best songs are "Not Afraid", "Won't Back Down", and "Cinderella Man". "Cinderella Man" is quite possibly the coolest song that he has ever made. The only weak link as far as lyrics is Lil Wayne's verse in "No Love". He really just says nonsense. This is arguably Eminem's best album thus yet. If not, it is definitely in the top 3. Buy this album! You will not regret it!

Still stands among the PS3'S BEST...
on June 5, 2010

Heavenly Sword still stands today as an example of what the PS3 hardware is capable of. The graphics still stand today as some of the best on the console. The animations, and motion capture are only behind Uncharted 2 in terms of quality. Facial expressions really convey the character's feelings, and evoke emotion from the player. King Bohan is the best example of this. The characters, as well as the voice acting is nicely done. Anna Torv did a wonderful job voicing Nariko, and making her a strong, confident character. The combat is fun to say the least. Each fighting style has distinct combos. There are a number of combos to learn for each style, as well as air combos. Mastering them just makes the action much more fluid, and beautiful due to the beautiful animations. The main gripe that many have cast against Heavenly Sword is the length. i do not agree with this criticism. The length is perfect in context to the storyline. It is also possible to replay each level once you have beaten it. This adds replay value, and allows you to learn the combos of your choice. My only gripe is the framerate issues. This is a minor issue as this was a launch game for the system, and the wrinkles were just being worked out. It does not happen enough to be a nuisance though. There is no reason to own a PS3, and not be playing this game. BUY IT!!!

The open world western genre is alive again...

I will start by saying that I love Red Dead Redemption. That is not to say that it is perfect. I will address it's triumphs, and shortcomings here. The graphics, in particular the faces are very detailed. Rockstar is notorious for rendering blurry faces so that is a step in the right direction. Rockstar is also known for crafting memorable characters, as is the case here. Some missions are standard, and some are amazing set pieces that are a blast to play. There is tons of thingsto do outside of the main storylline. Some of these tasks are repititive, but they do add more playtime if you are willing to invest it. The ending is the only problem that I have with this game. I spent about 12 to 15 hors playing with this character through the main game, and got accustomed to playing with him. He was invincible throughout the majority of the game, which I understand is accompanied with it being a game. I finally reached my goal of being with my family, and living happily. Skip ahead a few missions, and I am shot dead. I believe this was meant to be an honorable death or something, but I could care less about playing with his son. What is even worse is you are not allowed to enjoy killing the guy who orchestrated all of this. You have to travel all over to find him, and all you do is have a duel which is unexciting. The main story length seems short compared to GTAIV. That is not a huge problem though as there is plenty of optional content to peruse. Red Dead Redemtion is a fun game with some bugs. If you can get past these, you will enjoy this game fully.

One of 2008's best albums...

I loved this artist since I heard Love Song. I bought the album for that song, and got so much more. Her voice is beautiful, and is effortless especially on Gravity which features a note that will take your breath away. Many The Miles, Love On The Rocks and One Sweet Love are non-singles that are also great. The entire album is excellent, but those are my favorites. The melodic content of this album is upbeat for the most part, and features some catchy lyrics. There are also some slower songs that showcase her beautiful voice. If this is just her debut, I can only imagine what she has in store next. This is a an album that you can not afford to miss. You will find yourself falling in love with these songs.

A great way to end the GTAIV saga...

I ike these games a great deal. TBOGT is funner in my opinion, but you will enjoy them both. It is fun to see Niko's story connect with these, and see favorite characters return. Motorcycles mechanics have been improved for TLAD which eliminate the need to even want to drive a car. Some animations have been tweaked as well, for better or worse. Overall, if you love the world of GTAIV, you can not go wrong with these two great expansions.

What's not so great: Lengths are compact compared to GTAIV

This is another listenable album by Mario. I think that his best work is past him, but there are great songs here. Thinking Of You, Stranded, and Soundtrack To My Broken Heart are the best songs on the album. They are amazing. Break Up is good also. The rest is somewhat filler. If you like Mario though, buy it.

Warranty on the xbox360

I bought the xbox360 elite for 399.99 when it frist came out and also got a warranty with it for 59.99 for two years. My question is if i return xbox360 due to malfuction would i get the same one or can i get the slim xbox snice i bought it for 399.99 at the time.
I believe that it would have to be sent to Microsoft, and they will either fix your system, or send you the same model. They will not send you a Slim model though.

New Xbox

Is the new Xbox 360 with the 250gb hard drive the new "Elite" model? vs the old 120gb model and can you still buy the 120gb Elite brand new?
They are getting rid of the Elite model, and since the Elite is the same price as the 250 slim the slim model is a better buy. To my knowledge the Elite may be discontinued.

You can not. Being that the system is redesigned, the hard drive will no longer fit the new model. You will have to buy a transfer kit to transfer your data.

199.99 more...???

hello my question is how much is the total price of a xbox360? and how much are the taxes that I add? to one of 199.99 I would stay in?
I believe with taxes, it will come out to about $221. That is just an estimate, but it will in that range. The tax on $100 is always around $10.

can you trade in a ps2 and get a xbox 360 ?

Being that the PS2 is a much older system, I doubt it. You can trade the system in towards the purchase of a 360, but it will not be much. You could always add games that you no longer want as well to drive down the price.

Does the PS3 play PS1 and PS2 games?

I believe that the older 20GB, and 60GB models play PS2 games. Those have been discontinued for some time now, so unless you can find one second hand it is best to buy a PS2 to play PS2 games. The Slim models do not play PS2 games regardless of the GB's. All models play PS1 games though.

Which console system ?

I have an Xbox 360 console (120GB hard drive/ 512 mb memory unit) that no longer works. I am very interested in the new console with kinect. Are the games and controllers I currently have as well as all of the Rock Band components compatible with this new console? A co-worker offered to sell me his new, still in the box Xbox 360 250GB Limited Edition Halo: Reach Bundle. The price is good, but will I be longing for more in the future? When the console worked, we played Xbox games and Rock Band all the time. Any info or advice to help me decide?
Everything should be compatible. The only thing that will not be is the hard rive as they are a different design now if you buy a Slim model. There is a transfer kit, to transfer your files. I could be wrong but I believe with an older console, you will need to have an adapter to use Kinect with them. I own an Elite, and am not currently interested in Kinect, but a Kinect bundle might be the best solution.
