A Great Album
on July 11, 2009

This album is really good, definitely Natasha's best. A number of tracks have a subtle but powerful quality to suddenly energize the listener - especially track 5: Piece of Your Heart. The music is beautiful, the lyrics have substance, and there's no hints of cheesyness or overdoing it.
What's great about it: Tracks 1,2,3,5,6,7,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16
What's not so great: Tracks 4 and 8

Duff's Downfall Album
on July 11, 2009

This album is a big disappointment, even to Duff fans, as long as they liked the Metamorphosis album. These tracks don't just get cheesy overtime, they are cheesy (except a couple tracks).
What's great about it: Fly (Track 1) and Shine (Track 9)
What's not so great: Sounds Desperate, The New Sound doesn't Fit Her

Kinda Good

I'll admit I liked this CD a lot when I first bought it years ago. However the tracks get a cheesy feel overtime. Nevertheless, the album contains a good mix of upbeat music and reflective ballads. I think it's Duff's best CD.
What's great about it: A good mix of upbeat and slow/reflective songs
What's not so great: The songs can get cheesy overtime

Melodic Peace

This album is definitely better than most people think. In some ways it almost surpases Aiken's previous "Measure to a Man" album. Several tracks such as "On My Way Here" can be played over and over without seeming overplayed. The music has a calming and peaceful effect as well.
What's great about it: Soft but Powerful Quality of the Music

A Let Down To Those Who Read The Novel
on July 9, 2009

from Brockton, MA
This film has great acting, action, settings, and special effects - all things asked for in a movie. However, to those who have read and loved the novel, this movie is a big let down. I was one of the people that voted on various sites that this movie should be shown in two parts so that half the novel doesn't have to be cut out. Unfortunately, the film was done as one and hence leaves out not just minor details, but major plot points and details key to understanding as to what is going on. I still gave it a 4 because if someone was watching the film but had not yet read the book - it is still very appealing.
What's great about it: Action, Acting, Setting, Special Effects
What's not so great: Way Too Short To Do the Plot Justice

Exciting

This film is comprised of great acting, action sequences, magical settings that become actors themselves, and exciting special effects. Unfortunately I was not happy as to how the movie increased the emphasis on the romance issues and decreased the emphasis on what the title character goes through in the fourth novel. I understand this is done to sell the film, but it lightens the meaning and greatness of the novel.
What's great about it: Action, Setting, Acting, Special Effects
What's not so great: Emphasis on plot points that do not follow the emphasis of plot points in the novel

After directing the first two movies in the Harry Potter franchise, Chris Columbus opted to serve as producer for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and passed the baton to Y Tu Mamá También director Alfonso Cuarón. Though "immensely popular" is an understatement when it comes to Harry Potter, Azkaban is somewhat of a departure from its predecessors, and particularly beloved among fans for its surprise ending. Prisoner of Azkaban also marks the introduction of Sirius Black (Gary Oldman), who has escaped from the title prison after 12 years of incarceration. Believed to have been the right-hand-man of the dark wizard Voldemort, whom Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) mysteriously rendered powerless during his infancy, some of those closest to Harry suspect Black has returned to exact revenge on the boy who defeated his master. Upon his return to school, however, Harry is relatively unconcerned with Black. Run by Albus Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) -- who is widely regarded as the most powerful wizard of the age -- Hogwarts is renowned for its safety. Harry's nonchalance eventually turns to blind rage after accidentally learning the first of Black's many secrets during a field trip to a neighboring village. Of course, a loose serial killer is only one of the problems plaguing the bespectacled wizard's third year back at school -- the soul-sucking guards of Azkaban prison have been employed at Hogwarts to protect the students, but their mere presence sends Harry into crippling fainting spells. With the help of his friends Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson), and Defense Against the Dark Arts professor Remus Lupin (David Thewlis), Harry struggles to thwart the Dementors, find Sirius Black, and uncover the mysteries of the night that left him orphaned.

A Little Too Dark
on July 8, 2009
Posted by: LinkinPark2
from Brockton, MA
Overall, this is a great movie with plenty of portrayals of great acting (such as Emma Thompson, Daniel Radcliffe, Alan Rickman, James+Oliver Phelps, etc). Though the new director does a nice job with special effects in the film, the overall dark effect gets to be a little too much at times.
What's great about it: Acting, Storyline
What's not so great: The new director made it a little too dark visually

The blockbuster hit Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that fails to preserve the original theatrical aspect ratio of the film. English and Spanish soundtracks are rendered in DD-EX 5.1. English, Spanish, and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include extended scenes, interviews, still photos, interactive games, and the theatrical trailer. This is a fine release from Warner Bros., but a different edition of the film with the same extras and a widescreen transfer of the film is available. That disc is preferable to this one.

Chris Columbus + JK Rowling = Great
on July 8, 2009

This another of the better movies in the HP film series (because once again it only had to deal with 300 - 400 pages). The action intensifies from the first movie, and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) matures as both the character and an actor. The various settings are absolutely as magical and beautiful as they ought to be.
What's great about it: Acting, Storyline, Setting

Chris Columbus' wildly successful adaptation of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. English and Spanish soundtracks are rendered in DD-EX 5.1. Subtitles are accessible in both of those languages. Supplemental materials include a handful of interactive activities and games, deleted footage, and a tour of Hogwarts. Those with a DVD-ROM drive can access trading cards, sign up for Harry Potter emails, and play additional games.

This movie is one of the better HP films because it only had to cover a little over 300 pages. Special accolades for acting go to Richard Harris (Dumbledore), Alan Rickman (Snape), and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter).

Another Great Movie that Dancers Cannot Stop Watch
on July 5, 2009

Step Up 2 is an awesome movie although I feel Step Up was a little better. Robert Hoffman does a good job as the hero, but I still feel Channing Tatum is more believeable. The star of the film isn't the hero or the heroine though, it's Moose, played by Adam, who's acting and dancing should be greatly commended. A great plot, and a must see movie for dancers and dance enthusiasts!
What's great about it: Nearly Everything
