not as bad as it could've been

the music was awesome. the extended music option on the dvd was a definite plus...sometimes you just get in the spirit!!! the acting was subpar, the overall message was good. it was a great storyline, but the actors didn't really fit.
What's great about it: the music is beautiful
What's not so great: trying to make the audience believe that boris kodjoe sounds like kirk franklin

Better than I had anticipated

There were a few tears shed but I still laughed more often than cried. Don Cheadle is great, as usual. Adam Sandler was very good, but the voice he used was a lot like the comical voices he uses. The chemistry between Cheadle and Sandler is kind of iffy, but they pull it off.

fairly solid

this was a very good concept but it felt rushed together. there were too many mini-plots going that didn't necessarily groove with the rest of the plot. Idris Elba is great, as is Gabrielle Union. They are really the only two who seemed like "movie" actors, the rest of the cast seemed more fit for the stage.

if you don't want to become militant after listening to this cd, you weren't listening. nas brings back what true hiphop is about! lyricism, metaphors, political motivation....he killed it!

this movie is very good. a lot of action and the revenge they take on people i completely understand. it doesn't hurt that 3 of the four main stars are eye candy. ;)

Donald Petrie's Mystic Pizza was one of the harder-to-find laserdiscs for many years, having appeared (and promptly disappeared) from Image Entertainment, so this DVD is a double treat, solving the rarity problem with a low-priced, high-resolution edition of a beautiful movie. This edition looks great -- though one sort of longs to see how this picture might look in high-definition -- and sounds very good; this release, from 2001, marked the point where DVDs began catching up to laser in terms of sound. It's also been encoded with 16 chapters, which is barely adequate for a picture like this -- it gets there by not dividing the credit sequence off from the introduction to the restaurant, or Kat's first meeting with her employer from the vignette with her mother, little matters like that which make this disc a little less valuable than it otherwise might be. It opens to the menu automatically on start-up and the bonus features include the original trailer and a choice of French and Spanish subtitles, English and Spanish stereo surround, and French mono.

Bad Boys is an excellent DVD. Framed at 1.85:1, the image is pristine. The disc uses an anamorphic transfer and there are no signs of wear or distracting elements. Colors are clear and bright and the darks are solid with no grain. The sound on this disc is equally impressive. The 5.1 Dolby Digital track is primarily up front in the center, left, and right, but there are plenty of instances where the back surrounds effectively come into use. The disc has a Dolby Digital Surround track in both English and Spanish. Subtitles are available in Chinese, Korean, Thai, Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French. The highlight extra on this disc is an enthusiastic audio commentary track with director Michael Bay. It is filled with insight not only on the making of the film, but how it got started and where he came from. Odd extras on this disc include two "documentaries." The first is a new, behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film that includes the standard interviews, which also contains a lengthy look at the weapons experts that worked on the film. The other documentary is most unusual, a multi-angle analysis of the weapons, what they do, and the damage they can cause. In addition, there are trailers for this film and for Blue Streak. Music videos from Diane King ("Gun Shy"), Warren G. ("So Many Ways"), and 69 Boyz featuring K-Nock ("Five O, Five O"), plus the musical score are on an isolated track. Bios and filmographies for the main cast and crew members of the film are provided. Though far from a masterpiece, Columbia/TriStar has gone all out on this special edition.

this movie was awesome. it was made before will smith was a megastar and martin lawrence wasn't a mainstream household name. the chemistry between them is great. the action scenes are pretty good.

The life story of boxing legend Muhammad Ali comes to vivid life in director Michael Mann's Ali. Columbia has done a fantastic job on this 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. The images in this picture feature finely detailed colors, solid black levels, and natural flesh tones throughout. No imperfections of any kind were spotted anywhere in this transfer. The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English and French. This soundtrack works very well in the confines of the film. There are many instances of directional effects through both the front and rear speakers with the bass coming in heavy and aggressive. No distortion is heard during any of the dialogue, effects, or music. Also included on this disc are subtitles in French, English, and Spanish. Sadly, this DVD edition of Ali is completely lacking when it comes to special features -- the only supplements available on this disc include a theatrical trailer for Ali and bonus trailers for Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and the sequel Men in Black 2. Fans will certainly be hoping for a better DVD down the line, but until then it looks like any special edition of Ali is down for the count.

first of all, i was expecting this movie to be absolutely garbage. the only reason i watched it was to look at t.i. for an hour :) surprisingly it wasn't that bad. big boi did a pretty impressive job as a gangster drug dealer.
