ONE OF THE GREATEST FILMS OF ALL TIME
on September 15, 2008

I love this movie so much. It's just one of those films that makes you happy. Perfect screenplay, performances that stay with you forever, if you haven't seen this film please do yourself a favor and pick it up. Blu-ray if you have the equiptment or DVD if you don't.
What's great about it: EVERYTHING, IT LOOKS GREAT

Sidney Lumet directs Al Pacino in Serpico, which comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Mono, while a French soundtrack has also been recorded in Dolby Digital Mono. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a documentary about the making of the film, the theatrical trailer, and a photo gallery with commentary from the director. This is a solid release from Paramount.

Another Al Pacino Classic
on September 15, 2008
Posted by: Jory

Overall classic film by Sidney Lumet (12 Angry Men, Network, Dog Day Afternoon). If you love Al Pacino and are looking for a good 70's cop drama than this might do you in.
What's great about it: Al Pacino at his best, good true story, enough wardrobe malfunctions to win a best costume award
What's not so great: a little slow

Sam Peckinpah
on September 15, 2008

This is probably my second favorite Peckinpah film, the first being Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia. I love his gritty violence, it makes you cringe but how can you look away. A western classic. Up there in my favorite westerns.
1. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
2. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
3. Shane
4. 3:10 to Yuma (remake)
5. Johnny Guitar
6. The Naked Spur
7. The Wild Bunch
8. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
9. The Proposition
10. The Searchers
What's great about it: A western classic
What's not so great: A tad bit slow, so don't expect too much action and you'll love it

Fantastic Movie, Decent Blu-ray
on September 15, 2008

Memorable is an appropriate word choice for this film. A very tense revenge story with the final look that Chan-Wook Park wanted. The first time I saw this I was a little upset with how everything played out, but the second time having been prepared for it, I was able to appreciate it a lot more.
What's great about it: A great film with the directors approval
What's not so great: Very disturbing story, not that much better than the DVD

SCORSESE'S MASTERPIECE
on September 15, 2008

What an amazing film this is, the pace and flow is one of the many magical things that Scorsese uplifts here. The roll and twist of the camera, the music, the touch; anyone who loves a good mob movie will tell you, nothing beats GOODFELLAS.
What's great about it: Flawless, the Blu-ray looks marvelous.

Hilarious and a Great Looking Blu Ray
on September 15, 2008
Posted by: Jory

I love this film. At first I saw the trailer and was turned off by another stylized action comedy with a heist and overused comedy. But let me just say, this film blew me away. Very well done and one of the funniest films I've seen in recent years. Great film, check it out. The blu ray is fantastic but so is the DVD.
What's great about it: Great film, outstanding performances and the sound and picture are top notch

WHAT A FILM THIS IS
on September 5, 2008

The Coen Brothers make the greatest deadpan thrillers and comedies in cinema history. We have Fargo, Raising Arizona, O Brother Where Art Thou, The Big Lebowski, Blood Simple, Miller's Crossing, and Barton Fink. I am a huge fan of their work, can't wait to see their new film, Burn After Reading. "What's the most you've ever lost on a coin toss?" Such a good movie, saw it twice in the theater. Own it on DVD and Blu Ray.
What's great about it: One of the best films to come out in a long time. Flawless Blu Ray
What's not so great: Ignore the ending. It is the same as the book. Get over it, it's one of the best adaptation also.

P.T. ANDERSON'S MASTERPIECE
on September 5, 2008

P.T. Anderson is destined to be the next Stanley Kubrick. He has a way with film, even if it is inspired by some of the greatest directors of all time, he still has it. Every great artist found inspiration from another great artist, it's the cycle of humanity. This is an absolute masterpiece, what a magical film this is. The score makes you feel uneasy throughout. I loved it. It looks fabulous on Blu-ray and sounds just as good and let's face it, the dvd packaging is an automatic DVD shredder. Get the blu ray if you've got the equiptment. I liked the idea of the DVD packaging but my DVD is scratched within two views after taking it out of the cardboard case, it is a really tight squeeze; pulling it automatically scratches it.
What's great about it: Superb film with two of the most memorable performances I've seen
What's not so great: NONE

I love this film and have loved it for quite some time. One of the most exciting things about this film is the way the music makes you bob your head throughout, it has you actively participating amidst the drama and tension. I love it.
What's great about it: Fantastic film, a foreign film that everyone can enjoy

AMAZING FILM
on September 4, 2008

Great movie. Forget the remake, this is unbeatable. I would recommend this to just about anyone who is willing to watch something fun with a little gore and limb plucking. Classic.
What's great about it: A great film with a slight upgrade from Divimax DVD which was already an HD transfer
What's not so great: not as well transfered as I would have hoped for such a classic horror film
I would recommend this to a friend!
