Steven Spielberg's variation on Peter Pan, Hook comes to DVD with a superb widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Surround. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include theatrical trailers, talent files, and production notes. This disc offers excellent picture and sound quality, making it worth a look, especially considering the reasonable list price.

The computer animated fairy tale comedy Shrek comes to DVD from DreamWorks in this single-disc edition with a full frame transfer. Audio is presented in Dolby Digital Stereo in English, with mono versions in French and Spanish. Subtitles are available in English, French, and Spanish. Closed captions are also accessible. This is just the bare bones release of the film; those interested in bonus material are advised to check out the extra features-packed Special Edition two-disc set released by DreamWorks in 2001.

Mike Judge's hilarious animated celebration of a man who loves his country, his family, and propane (not necessarily in that order) gets the royal treatment for its release on DVD. King of the Hill: The Complete Second Season has been transferred to disc in its original full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Surround; in addition to the original English-language soundtrack, alternate Spanish-dubbed tracks also appear, as well as optional subtitles in English and Spanish. Bonus materials include commentary tracks on selected episodes from the show's writers and producers, as well as "in character" commentaries from the show's cast members. The show's directors also provide introductions to many of the episodes. Other goodies include additional scenes, animatics, and alternate endings; a guide to drawing the King of the Hill characters yourself; music videos; selections from the book The Boy Ain't Right; and more.

Now known as the film which propelled both Jim Carrey and the Farrelly brothers to superstardom, Dumb and Dumber was the first in an ever-growing line of gross-out comedies. But this lofty distinction does not keep it from getting a rather sparse treatment on DVD. Unlike the brothers' recent Me, Myself and Irene DVD, which was packed to the gills with extras, Dumb and Dumber comes up short. The picture is a widescreen anamorphic transfer and presented in its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio (a full-screen version is on the other side). The sound is a clear Dolby Digital 5.1 and is used to good effect in certain sequences. Extras, however, are almost non-existent. There are two trailers -- one domestic and one international, a photo gallery, and the standard cast and crew bios. There's no doubt that Dumb and Dumber is well worth owning, but fans of the film craving more may want to hold out for a special edition.

Just as Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels pushes his films through the Hollywood machine, so too has Paramount Pictures with this simplistic DVD release that isn't worth a second viewing. Paramount apparently didn't expect any serious collector to purchase this film. Extras are limited to the standard theatrical trailer, Dolby 5:1 and Surround options, and French subtitles and language track. The disc feels like it's meant to be a rental, and the film isn't helped by its widescreen format either, since there's nothing in the edges of the frame that's really worth seeing. The film is the story of two loser brothers, Steve (Will Ferrell) and Doug Butabi (Chris Kattan), who go to Hollywood clubs, unsuccessfully hitting on chicks. It started as a two-minute sketch on TV's Saturday Night Live and is now stretched into 90 laborious minutes of the same joke. In this case, the joke is really on the DVD viewer.

I liked how this movie evolved from the first one. He put all of the people in a large house and let them movie around and they had to work together to get things done.

Package Description: In DreamWorks' smash-hit comedy, these hungry critters go over the hedge to take a bite out of Suburbia. Plus, check out the All-New Mini-Movie, Hammy's Boomerang Adventure... It's the funnies, furriest four minutes you'll see this year.

IS IT WORTH PAYING SOMEONE TO CALABRATE OR TWEEK THE SETTINGS ON MY SAMSUNG 52A650 LCD

Yes!! It is very much worth it. They make your tv look the very best that it can in your setting. I would recommend anyone doing this with a tv 42" or larger.
