Originally released in the early days of DVD, Jerry Maguire had great sound and picture, but nothing more. The release of this two-disc special edition has certainly changed that and the lack of extras on the first release is made up in droves. The first disc, with the movie, has a commentary track with director Cameron Crowe and stars Tom Cruise, Renee Zellweger, and Cuba Gooding Jr. The second disc, though, has the wealth of supplemental features. Here the movie is presented again, but in a smaller box with a video commentary of the four participants. It's the same commentary as the first disc, and while entertaining to watch them interact, there are far too many dry spells. Obviously they enjoy just watching the movie again. The remainder of the extras on the second disc are plentiful, including deleted scenes and rehearsal footage (both with optional commentary), a made-up shoe commercial with "Rod Tidwell," a Bruce Springsteen music video, photo gallery, theatrical trailers, and a brief featurette with cast and crew interviews. As for picture and sound, they're impeccable. The 1.85:1 image is representational of the theatrical experience with nicely saturated colors and solid, deep blacks. The 5.1 Dolby Digital track is also impressive, with just the right amount of surround material and clean, distinct use of the all important front speakers. Dialogue is clear and never distorted. All in all, this special edition is equal to most produced, in all respects.

One of Tom Cruise's best movies. A fun movie to watch and it shows you the other side of sports.

This movie tells a good story. Not a movie that I would watch a lot but good a few times.

The high-school basketball film Hoosiers has become a genre classic. This tale of an underdog small-town Indiana team taking on a big-city powerhouse in the state championships was based on a true story. The most fascinating aspect of this first-rate disc is the inclusion of the original film of that actual 1954 championship game. The footage is grainy and is by no means professionally created, but it is a fascinating piece of history. Director David Anspaugh and screenwriter Angelo Pizzo provide a commentary track for the feature film that details many stories about how they had to make do with a very limited budget. The excellent transfer of the film presents the movie in an aspect ratio of 1.85:1, preserving the original theatrical aspect ratio. The English soundtrack has been remastered in Dolby Digital 5.1. The director and screenwriter provide an introduction for over 30 minutes of deleted footage, much of it concerning the romantic relationship between the coach played by Gene Hackman and the local schoolteacher played by Barbara Hershey. The original theatrical trailer and a still photo gallery round out this quality release from MGM/UA.

Just in time for the XXX sequel comes this new Uncensored, Unrated Director's Cut version of the original Vin Diesel actioner, straight from Sony Pictures Entertainment. Featuring what could only be called the most audacious added scene in any DVD, this edition includes "The Final Chapter: The Death of Xander," which adds up to a newly shot four-minute death scene of Diesel's character (as played by body double Khristian Lupo). Featuring a fake-looking model in busty lingerie who spouts lines like "I'm gonna f*ck you until your eyes implode!" this shameless scene finds Xander blown up at the end as bad guys come back to collect a piece of his steaming bloody scalp -- yes, for real. Extras from previous versions have been carried over, including scores of featurettes on the stunts, production, and in-depth FX shots. The commentary with director Rob Cohen has been carried over as well, though the behind-the-scenes look at the sequel is new, along with an exclusive scene from the Ice Cube shoot-'em-up. The film itself is presented in an anamorphic 2.40:1 widescreen picture and pumped up with 5.1 Dolby Digital sound. Peppered with eight additional, never-before-seen minutes, the movie is now bigger and certainly more extreme. This release is recommended for those that can't get enough of action madman Vin Diesel or for those that didn't buy any previous edition -- the rest can just rent it to see the death scene (it's just that good!).

Victor Fleming's family musical masterpiece The Wizard of Oz comes to DVD with this handsome package from Warner Bros. The disc offers a standard full-frame transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.33:1. English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Mono, while a French soundtrack is also available in Dolby Digital Mono. Subtitles are accessible for both of those languages as well. The extensive supplemental materials include a making-of documentary, trailers, outtakes from some of the musical numbers, cast interviews, newsreel clips, and an audio presentation from the original recording session for the soundtrack. This is an excellent disc that gives the viewer a sense of this important film's history, while beautifully presenting the film's picture and sound.

Not as good as the first one. This one was basically the first one but in a boat and not as well put together.

Michael Bay's sequel Bad Boys II arrives on DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.40:1. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. English and French subtitles are accessible. There are no supplemental materials of any consequence, but the disc does offer high-quality sound and picture quality.

IS IT WORTH PAYING SOMEONE TO CALABRATE OR TWEEK THE SETTINGS ON MY SAMSUNG 52A650 LCD

Yes!! It is very much worth it. They make your tv look the very best that it can in your setting. I would recommend anyone doing this with a tv 42" or larger.
