Not Cosby at his best but still a movie that is worth watching.

The Odd Couple's Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau re-team in Grumpy Old Men, which comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that fails to preserve the original theatrical aspect ratio of the film. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. English, French, and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials are limited to a trailer and production notes. This is a substandard DVD that should have some more whistles and bells considering the film's status as a sleeper hit.

Stanley Tong directs international action superstar Jackie Chan in Police Story 4: First Strike, which comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, and a French soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Surround. English, French, and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include filmographies of the cast and crew, biographies of the cast and crew, and a theatrical trailer. This is a fine release from New Line that should appeal to genre enthusiasts.

James Garner plays an Army officer who puts his hobby to practical use in Tank. Zach (James Garner) moves to a new post in a backwoods Georgia town. Accompanying him is his family --his wife LaDonna (Shirley Jones) and his son Billy (C. Thomas Howell)-- and his prize recreational activity --a restored Sherman tank. Zach strolls into town one night and engages in conversation with Sarah (Jenilee Harrison), a 17-year-old prostitute, who works for the town crime czar and law enforcement authority, Sheriff Buelton (G.D. Spradlin). When one of Buelton's goons gets rough with Sarah, Zach slaps him down. In retaliation for Zach's infraction, Buelton arranges for Billy to be sent to a brutal prison farm on trumped-up drug charges. Zach tries to get Billy released, but to no avail. So he jumps on his trailer, starts up his Sherman tank and heads into town.

Clark Griswold and his family get to celebrate the holidays in digital splendor in this DVD release of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. The film has been transferred to disc in its original widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1, which has been enhanced for anamorphic playback on 16 x 9 monitors. The original English language soundtrack has been remixed in Dolby Digital 5.1, while an alternate track dubbed in French appears in Dolby Digital Mono. The movie also features optional subtitles in English, French, and Spanish. No bonus materials have been included.

Amy Heckerling helmed this second outing from the Griswald clan. National Lampoon's European Vacation comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Mono. English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by star Chevy Chase and a theatrical trailer. This is a welcome release from Warner Bros. that should be a treat for fans of the series.

An ensemble cast, including Michael J. Fox, Nancy Travis, Olivia D'Abo, Phil Hartman, and Kirk Douglas, stars in the biting comedy Greedy, a film that proves where there's a will -- there's a conniving relative. Universal has done a very nice job on this 1:85:1 anamorphic transfer that looks almost as good as Olivia D'Abo's skimpy outfits. Colors and black levels are even and show no signs of fading. Medium amounts of edge enhancement were spotted, but since Greedy is an older catalog title, this was not very surprising. Overall the image looks very well rendered and exceptionally clean. Audio is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 (in both English and French) and the sound quality is well mixed. The surround feature was engaged more in certain scenes than in others, but since this is a comedy, the zingers and laughs are what matter, not the sound effects. Also included on this disc are English captions as well as Spanish subtitles. For those viewers grasping for substantial extra material, this edition of Greedy won't suffice. Included on this disc are some slim production notes, cast and filmmaker biographies, and a non-anamorphic theatrical trailer for Greedy. For a movie filled with riches and gold, Greedy is surprisingly void of any precious bonus features.

Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell star in 3000 Miles to Graceland, a bloody action film about heists, hairdos, and a lot of Elvis impersonators. Featuring a 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, Warner has done a very nice job on this impressive DVD. All aspects of the image are clear and bright, with colors looking natural and blacks darkly solid. While a small amount of edge enhancement is spotted in a few key scenes, this shouldn't interfere with the viewer's enjoyment of the film. The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound (in both English and French) and is also well-produced. The dialogue, effects, and the music are all crystal clear with no sign of distortion present. The directional effects are used constantly and generously throughout the entire movie. Also included on this disc are English and French subtitles. Since 3000 Miles to Graceland was a box-office bomb, it's not surprising to find an anamorphic theatrical trailer and some cast and crew information as the only supplemental features available on this disc.

This movie starts with a good action scene and has a few more throughout but offsets those good scenes with bad scenes.

IS IT WORTH PAYING SOMEONE TO CALABRATE OR TWEEK THE SETTINGS ON MY SAMSUNG 52A650 LCD

Yes!! It is very much worth it. They make your tv look the very best that it can in your setting. I would recommend anyone doing this with a tv 42" or larger.
