This Swedish adaption of the international best-selling trilogy is sufficient enough for Millennium fans. However, Noomi Rapace's representation of the titular character is not all it's cracked up to be.
Compared to Rooney Mara's Academy Award nominated performance (for which she would have won had it not been for Meryl Streep), Noomi's performance strays from the Salander in the books. In the novels, she fades into the background with much pleasure. In the Swedish adaption, she is a loud punk rocker with an attitude. Although Rapace's performance is admirable, it is no where near the Salander depicted in the books. Blomqvist's character is also not exactly as it is in the novels, unlike in Fincher's adaption, where he is played perfectly by Daniel Craig.
Still, it's nice seeing that a trilogy was created out of the novels, and at a whopping 9 hours, it's definitely a must watch for fans of the highly acclaimed series.

What's not so great: No lossless English track (but it does contain a lossless Swedish language track).

Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross' Academy Award winning score for David Fincher's The Social Network is a marvel in that it's the only electronic-based score to win an Academy Award.
The score alone conveys all of the emotions contained in the film's narrative and dialogue. Within the film, the score enhances the turbulent and sometimes melancholy atmosphere created by Jesse Eisenberg's Mark Zuckerberg.
This score is one of the best scores I have ever heard. In my opinion, it is second to Reznor & Ross' score for another Fincher title, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Unfortunately, unlike the score for Social Network, Dragon Tattoo was snubbed by the Academy (but did end up winning the Best Score Grammy Award a year later).
Nine Inch Nails fans might love to hear that "A Familiar Taste" and "Magnetic" are remixes of songs featured in Ghosts I-V, also composed by Reznor & Ross. A third non-original track, a reinvented version of classical "In the Hall of the Mountain King" is also a highlight.
