Perfect Speaker for my home office!
on April 3, 2020

The Marshall Uxbridge Smart Speaker is a great addition to my home-office (and the timing couldn't be better since I'm in it a LOT these days primarily working from home).
It is the perfect size for a bookshelf and looks pretty cool sitting on one (see picture). It's a smart speaker with the nifty, classic 'Marshall' amp design known around the world. Careful when unpacking it, as it is slightly heavier than you would expect it to be.
Upon unpacking set-up is easy enough. You (of course) download the app, sign into it, sign into wi-fi and follow a few easy steps and you're connected. It's that easy to get it going, but you can get quite a bit more complicated than that if you wish.
Having Alexa built in is great. We're already an Alexa home, so one more speaker (particularly one that fits so well in my office) is fine with me. Once you're in the app with set-up, you can connect Alexa to your existing account. If you have all of your Alexa devices on the same network that enables some cool stuff--all speaker play is one of the most fun. If you want to hear music in every room so long as you have an Alexa in the other rooms on the same network you will. You can use them as an intercom system, a voice or video call system or lots of other cool, Alexa enabled apps.
My personal favorite these days is to have Alexa play my favorite news and entertainment podcasts while I'm working. Or play the days news (it usually starts with local news and works it's way out to the world) or weather, or even games like 20 questions or guess the song.
It's a neat addition to the office, a helpful 'smart speaker' and music played through it sounds terrific as well (though it could use just a little more base--due mostly to the size of the speaker than anything else). You can stream music from your Amazon account, or any bluetooth enabled device thanks to the bluetooth settings.
All and all a very cool, convenient and nice looking addition to my home office!

The Victorinox Small Connex Frequent is made by the same company that has made Swiss Army Knives since 1897. So, you can be that it covers all the bases -- functionality, versatility, quality, and ergonomics. This upright spinner bag’s exterior offers a modern, streamlined look and is made with strong Makrolon polycarbonate. The spacious internal compartment allows optimized packing and is expandable to increase the capacity. There are x-shaped compression straps and zippered divider walls and pockets to help organize. When you close the bag and send it off, it can stay secure: a recessed Travel Sentry Approved combination lock allows TSA officers to access your bag. Its dimensions are 9.1 x 13.8 x 21.7 inches. And, when empty, it weighs 6.7 pounds.

Fantastic carry on for frequent travelers
on March 10, 2020
Posted by: SgtRock
from Thompsons Station
I travel several times a year for work, and a few times a year for fun and have been looking for the ‘perfect’ carry-on for a while now. Most of my trips are 2-3 days, so having a bag I can fit everything in for a trip without having to check it or worry about the contents while traveling is important to me. I think I’ve finally found what I’m looking for in the Victorinox expandable 22” spinner.
I’ve tried several cheaper brands of hard-side spinners before this one, and each had it’s share of issues. The most common is construction (there is nothing quite as aggravating as literally having the ‘wheels come off’ of a suitcase when you’re in a hurry through an airport), and then storage compartments. While the space seems the same in these bags, the use of said space leaves a lot to be desired in some brands.
First, the bag looks cool. It’s so simple it’s almost ‘post-modern’, but it will certainly never go out of style like some of the crazier bags I’ve seen lately. It also has a smaller profile than many 22” bags—I wasn’t questioned on the size on my first trip and can’t imagine I ever will be. It just seems smaller than all the other carry-ons I saw getting on the plane, and it fit in the ‘size tester’ at the airport with room to spare. Getting it in the overhead on the way there was no issue at all.
This bag is constructed to survive a LOT, and I can verify it survives baggage handling since my second time using it (return trip) it had to be checked. I got it back after arrival and it looked like it did straight out of the box! There are eight very sturdy dual caster wheels that roll smoother than any other bag I’ve ever used (and somehow, they’re MUCH less noisy!). The zippers are the sturdiest I’ve seen on luggage, both inside and out. The TSA approved combination lock is awesome as well! I’ve always had to use those cheap ‘luggage’ size locks on bags and felt like I could break them off with my hands. This bag seems sturdy enough that it would take lengths most thieves wouldn’t bother with to break it open. When you’re traveling with valuable things it’s good to have a bag you feel secure with.
The most important thing after being sturdy is how much the bag can hold. I was able to pack a suit, two other days of business clothes, a pair of shoes and three days’ worth of casual clothes along with all the toiletries and extras, with everything kept separate and felt like I had room to spare. The ‘expandable’ portion would probably allow at least another day’s worth of clothes. The interior compartments are great! There are dividers that feel like you really are separating your dirty things from clean things, and they aren’t made of mesh! I’ve never understood the luggage industry’s fascination with mesh—I can only assume it’s cheaper to use. The ‘extras’ are pretty cool—particularly the USB port. You have to supply the battery (by TSA standards it must be removable) but it holds most smaller charging bricks without a problem, and the USB end fit my charging battery without an issue. I found it really helpful to not have to search for an open plug at the crowded airport terminal, and not to have to worry about where my phone sat while it charged since the port is on the top of the bag. The other ‘extras’ are cool if a tad overboard, but I’d expect nothing less from a Swiss-army inspired item.
The 1-year total warranty on everything but the USB charger is more than a lot of luggage companies provide, and the additional 10-year warranty is an industry standard. Based on my use so far I’ll be surprised if I ever need them.
While this is an expensive bag, if you travel a lot you know that cheaper bags with sub-par warranties (even from name brands) are cheap for a reason. I’ll be using this bag at least a dozen times every year, possibly a lot more. The higher price is worth it for my things, and my peace of mind. If you travel a lot I highly recommend this bag.

Nice entry level gaming headset!
on January 22, 2020
Posted by: SgtRock
from Thompsons Station
The Corsair HS45 surround headset is a very nice, entry-level gaming headset. It is comfortable and not too heavy, with some good basic features to it that will suit most gamers. However, If you’re looking for features beyond the basics you’ll probably want to move up in price a bit.
First, the headset is packaged well, with a couple of adapters and the plug-in microphone, and very basic instructions (with the usual caveat of downloading the full instructions on the website). They are essentially ‘plug and play’ on consoles or the computer, though on a PC you can download a more robust control set.
As mentioned, the features included are very, very basic, but are good enough for most gamers. The 7.1 surround is actually more robust than many headphones in this price range. They sound very good, and the directional sounds are really accurate. I tested these on three different systems (PC, Xbox and PS4) and had good results with all, though the PC did sound and perform slightly better thanks to the additional software. I tried them with Overwatch and Fortnight and was really impressed with how well the directional sound worked. The surround worked as well as any headphones I’ve used.
The microphone is detachable to protect it during travel. Being entry-level the sound wasn’t particularly sensitive or crisp, but the people I was communicating with had no trouble understanding me, and that’s the most important thing.
There are a few drawbacks due to it being entry level, but they’re mostly ‘bells and whistles’ related. The only major drawback is that the cord that plugs into the system isn’t removable, and in my experience that’s the most easily damaged part of the headset.
There are lighter sets, sets with ‘softer’ cushions, sets that light up in fancy ways, sets where you can tweak the sound to be exactly what you want in both input and output, but those all cost more than this set does.
If you’re looking for a good, relatively inexpensive gaming headset that gets the job done then you’ll be happy with the Corsair HS45.

Cool Toy for Star Wars fans!
on December 6, 2019

The Lightsaber Academy interactive Battle Lightsaber is a toy my kids have loved so far.
It's a pretty simple idea, and really easy to set up. After that I am clueless on how the technology works, but it is very cool.
You need 3 "AAA" batteries (not included) and a phone or tablet to download the 'interactive' part. I suggest an iPad, if possible, simply because that's the easiest to see, especially for children.
I would suggest to download the app first. Then, while the app is downloading you'll want to install the batteries. Start the app, then 'pair' it with the lightsaber (push and hold a button on the saber itself--it took maybe 5 seconds to pair up) to get started. You'll have to 'tune' the lightsaber before use, which is very simple. From there you can choose from half-a-dozen recognizable Star wars characters, and a few extra characters if you scan the QR code on the instructions.
The game itself is fairly challenging (starting off pretty slow then gradually getting harder). There are single player and 'head-to-head" choices. For single player the game will have you match stances, then motions, then a 'fruit ninja' style portion of the game against floating droids. Head-to-head are basically the same challenges but you're scored against another jedi trainee, using either their own lightsaber or trading off with the same one. They get points in the form of crystals for completing tasks correctly, which unlocks things farther into the game.
There are a lot of cool details included with this. There is a 'crystal' (as Star Wars nerds like myself know this is an important part of building a lightsaber) that you can press that changes colors--and the color of the lightsaber--depending on which master you're learning from: Luke is blue, Yoda is green, Kylo Ren and Darth Vader are red, etc. It also makes the lightsaber noises when you swirl it around or do cool things in the game.
The only frustrations we've run into are small. The instructions don't give a clear way to turn the saber off (figured out it's holding down the pairing button) so that was a little annoying to try to figure out. The biggest frustration for my kids is not getting an explanation on what they've done wrong when trying to play. They'll try to 'match' a stance on the screen, appear to have done it right, only to get a score of "0" with no real indication as to why. It's been a minor frustration for them, but it hasn't kept them from wanting to play.
The app works pretty well most of the time, but things like that could be improved with a clear explanation of both what they need to do to get a good score, and what they've done wrong when they don't get a good score.
Also, you should obviously make sure anyone playing is in a pretty clear area, as there are some pretty wide swings required by the game sometimes.
Overall this is a pretty inexpensive toy that has the look and sound of a light-saber, and gives a fun way to feel like you're really doing something with it instead of just swinging it around. For such a small price this is easily a winner of a gift for Star Wars fans!

Good idea, but not quite there yet
on November 12, 2019

The Ibi photo organizer is a good idea, but isn't quite where it needs to be yet to make it an easy photo organizer.
The device is very small, which is great as it makes it very easy to place. It needs a good wi-fi signal, but other than that it's basically plug-n-play as far as the main 'tower' goes. The hard drive spins pretty constantly when used, but I have mine in a location that I don't even notice unless I'm standing right next to it.
Once it's plugged in then you must download the app (of course) to finish set up. It's easy enough to set up initially. The issue comes once you start adding photos. Grant access to all of your photo accounts and it will 'grab' them and add them automatically--also very easy. You can add the app to windows 10 as well and let it retrieve photos from your computer.
The real issue for me (and I suspect for a lot of people) is the overwhelming task of organizing those photos. It's great to have them all in one place...after a long process I have close to 7000 photos on mine! They are organized by month....and that's it. From there it's up to you to go through and organize them how you wish.
This is a great device for a family that's just started taking photos I suppose, but for me it's basically going to be a cloud back-up of my pictures until I can find time to get those 7000 photos organized in some way.
As a back up device it's easy enough (though there are free software programs that can do this same thing if you already have a portable hard drive or something to that effect). Being able to share those photos with anyone is also pretty cool --though google has done that with their photo organizer for years now, so again the value is somewhat limited.
The app needs 'photo recognition' software that a lot of other programs already offer. Facial recognition, object recognition, etc, would have at least been a decent starting point for organizing a large collection.
As a photo back-up for a family like mine with a ton of photos it's great for some extra peace of mind, but I can't imagine having to go through and organize all my photos again, when the majority of them are already organized on my computer anyway...

Almost perfect headset for Xbox
on November 6, 2019
Posted by: SgtRock
from Thompsons Station
This is a really great headset for the Xbox, and my daughter loves the Rose color.
One of the best features with this headset is the simple set up--just push a button to sync it to your xbox and you're done! Plug the mic into the headset and you're all set until the next time it needs to be charged. It stays synced as well, so no having to re-sync it every time you want to use it.
The sound quality is terrific--games sound great, movies sound great, and the mic is crystal clear over a good connection. The volume and mute controls are simple and easy to locate on the headset (which is important when you can't see them). The mute mic control in particular is in a terrific spot.
The one drawback to these headphones for me is that they are a bit heavier than most wireless headphones I've used. They're sturdy, which is good, but the weight can be a bit much during an extended gaming session. The ears have a ton of cushioning on them...almost too much, as they tend to 'press in' a bit during gaming as well.
Overall if you're looking for a high-end headset for your Xbox with amazingly easy controls you can't go wrong with this set--you'll just want to take a break from time-to-time.

Simple, fast, router with very detailed controls
on October 16, 2019
Posted by: SgtRock
from Thompsons Station
I have been testing the Linksys - Max-Stream AC3000 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi Router – Black and so far I am very pleased with the results. I have owned several Linksys routers and wi-fi extenders and have always found them to be top-notch systems. This is no exception.
The box includes the router, a communication cable, the antennas (to be attached to the router) and a power cord, along with a ‘manual’ that basically covers the connections. The set up from there can be as simple or detailed as you’d like it to be.
Like virtually everything now you must have the app downloaded on your phone or a local tablet in order to get the router running. Linksys claims very proudly their system works with any internet provider. I have AT&T, which is famous for only having proprietary routers and not working well with others. I’m happy to say that, so long as you have the ‘bridge’ feature activated on your AT&T router, you’ll have no issues with the Linksys router.
I set this up as a ‘gaming’ exclusive router for my office use, and have it set up to limit the devices that can connect to it and have some of Linksys higher security features activated as well.
Having owned many other Linksys products, I have had their app for a while. Like most of their products set up is a breeze. The app walks you through it, and should detect your router right away so long as it’s plugged in. The app then walks you through the set up from there. You can be connected in five minutes out of the box if you’ve owned Linksys before, and only a few minutes more than that if you haven’t (however long it takes you to download the app and set up an account basically). You can be very basic or detailed with your set up, and you can adjust your settings in seconds anytime from anywhere with the app.
I don’t know much about the technology involved, but I get very fast speeds on every device I’ve connected so far. I keep the number of connections limited so the speed is mainly reserved for gaming. My ping is extremely low on every game I’ve played. Linksys claims the net technology is future-proofed—this has proven to be true with older devices I’ve used, so I imagine it will be true here.
The security features and parental controls are nice—and included, when there are several devices out now that charge extra for what the Linksys can do automatically and with very little effort and no extra cost. The parental controls include controlling screen time (“schedule a pause” on the app) and blocking specific websites—both are very easy to do with the app.
You can also prioritize your devices for speed (very cool for gamers, or for streaming 4k content to a TV), and you can turn ‘guest access’ to your router on or off with a toggle on the app.
There is also a WPS connection mode, which is the easiest way to connect enabled devices (basically one button push on each device).
The claim is coverage up to 3000 square feet—my home isn’t that large, but I’ve been able to connect to it in my yard with a surprisingly strong connection—though it fades fast the farther away I get. You can also use this with a Linksys Velop mesh node extender for even farther coverage.
Linksys has delivered another technologically advanced yet incredibly simple to use router. Highly recommended.

A great home security option
on October 16, 2019
Posted by: SgtRock
from Thompsons Station
I have owned an Arlo 2 system for about 2 years now and had a chance to test the newest version. While it’s still the same great Arlo system, there are a LOT of improvements over the older system (and still a limitation or two).
If you’re familiar with the older system, the first thing you’ll notice about this system is it is much smaller and lighter. This is especially true of the home base. This is nice as it makes it very easy to find space to store it.
The cameras are also smaller, lighter, and seem to hold a longer charge than the older version. There are 2 indoor/outdoor cameras and a home base included in this set.
It’s a simple set-up. Hook the home base directly to your router, plug it in, put the cameras where you want them (they are 60-70-% charged straight out of the box) and download the app.
If you don’t have an arlo account, you will need to set one up. The app is small and fairly user-friendly. I already had an account, so I didn’t need to set up a new one. I did need to remove the old devices and add the new devices. The app walks you through step-by-step on how to do this, and it is very easy.
I have the cameras sitting on shelves, where they blend right in with the other items on the shelf. I’m thinking about mounting one of them but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
They’re easy to charge, but the charger is proprietary, so making sure you remember where you store it is a priority, as replacing the charger (just like any proprietary device) is not cheap. Charging doesn’t take long (4-5 hours seemed to do it) and the charge lasts a very long time. I’ve had my system running for 10 days now and the batteries are barely halfway gone. There is an indicator in the app that will tell you how much charge is left on each camera. One drawback of this system is the cameras will have to be taken down to be charged, which can be inconvenient depending on how you’ve decided to mount them. You could opt for Arlo’s $50 25-ft charging cable, but you’re probably not thrilled at how much this system costs already.
The set-up and options that are included on the app are almost over-whelming. There is package detection (designed especially for people that have things ‘disappear’ off their front porch); settings designed for animal or people detection (which are very accurate); you can ‘geo-fence’ your camera to activate based on where you are located (I.e. when you are a certain distance from your home), or set ‘zones’ inside the cameras very wide recording area that you want it to concentrate on; and, perhaps most useful, you can set-up armed and disarmed periods. If you don’t set these up you’ll get a notification every time movement is detected on your camera (the camera starts recording at just about the split-second motion is detected) and that can be a lot if someone is home. You will have hundreds of notifications in no time at all. It took a little while to get it set right where I wanted it, but it was worth it as my notifications are far less now than they were on the default setting.
The picture is clearer and more detailed than the older versions. The image and playback is razor sharp 2k picture quality that can be zoomed for detailed screen caps (if necessary) and keeps sharp detail. Currently the clips are stored in a “library” on Arlo’s servers, and are displayed in the app from most recent to oldest. You can mark them as favorites, download them, delete them, share them or even ‘donate’ them to Arlo to use how they wish. At night the colors pop and the picture is still surprisingly clear, though it can wash out a bit if there is a bright light seen in the image—sort of a ‘night-vision’ effect. Another cool feature is the ‘spotlight’ on each camera can be turned on or off with your app and can be set to come on automatically if the camera is in night mode. There is also an ‘audible’ alarm that can be set to activate under certain conditions, and it is VERY loud.
The biggest drawbacks to the Arlo system, of course, all revolves around expense. It’s one of the most expensive systems out there to purchase initially—though for the craftsmanship and reliability I believe it is 100% worth it. The extra costs such as more cameras, longer cables, etc, can add up fast if you have a large home or want a large area monitored.
The other major cost is the ‘storage’ fee for the clips. There are a wide range of options but the free plan that comes with the older Arlo versions no longer exists. That 7-day free cloud storage for free was a great benefit, and it really stings that it’s not offered anymore. I suppose with high quality clips it gets more expensive to store, but it seems like some free-option could be offered, even if it's only 24 hours. You don’t have to subscribe to a plan, but you’ll have to record things as they happen live (you’ll still get the same notifications based on your settings, and can watch the cameras live) to a local storage device (USB drive or SD card) attached to the home base—inconvenient at best, at worst you may not be in a situation where you can check an alert and can’t record something you need to record. You also can't play back any clips you record locally through the app, though supposedly Arlo will have a fix coming out soon.
The basic plans start at $2.99 per month per camera, and the ‘Smart” plan is $9.99 a month and supports up to 5 cameras. Both plans include a ‘rolling’ 30-day 2k online recording for clip storage. If you want continuous recording, you have to subscribe per camera for $14.99 per two weeks (though the need for this plan would be very specialized I would think).
Currently Arlo includes 3-months free of the ‘smart’ monitor package so you’ll have ample opportunity to test-drive it and see if it suits your needs or not.
Another thing some might see as a drawback is that there are NO professional monitoring services available at all with this system.
If the cost isn’t an issue for you this is easily one of the best home security devices available and I highly recommend it.

Great--but massive--home business printer
on October 2, 2019

The Brother MFC-L3710CW Wireless Color All-In-One Printer is a beast! Which, unfortunately, means some good and bad things—though mostly good.
This is a very large printer, that is suitable for a home office, but probably overkill for a regular ‘family’ printer (though it would work great for that too). Because the printer is so large, obviously the box is huge. There is a ton of padding around it so there’s not much danger of it being damaged in shipping. You will need to be careful lifting it out of the box, however, as it is also very heavy. For that same reason you'll want to make sure it's in a very sturdy resting spot.
Unpacking takes a bit of time, as everything is taped down for protection, and the four print drums have protection on them that must also be removed.
Finding a spot for a printer this large may also be a challenge depending on your situation. The footprint is quite bit larger than most home printers, particularly the height. There are several drawers for paper, and the print cartridges for this type of printer are the ‘drum’ type, and they are massive compared to normal print cartridges. The advantage to this is that it should mean you will not have to change them nearly as often as a regular inkjet printer.
Set-up from there isn’t too difficult, though there was an annoyance or two that I ran into while setting up: First, I ran into an error with the machine telling me that my times didn’t match (turned out to be that it simply hadn’t updated after I’d connected to the internet) and then I was annoyed that it wouldn’t give me a ‘back’ button on the screen from the error. The home key only beeped at me, so I finally figured out to press the button below it—being colorblind and in a dark room I couldn’t make out what the symbol below the home key was.
From there I had to download the software from brother’s homepage (my computer, like a lot of recent computers, has no disc drive)—fortunately it was very easy to do. Once the software was installed there was another ten minutes or so of updates to the firmware and software, and then I was all set. It’s pretty standard save one or two little hiccups.
This printer is fast! Pages print quickly, and there is a ton of room for paper-storage so even with large print jobs you shouldn’t have to replenish paper very often.
The prints themselves look great. I’ve tested large documents, photos large and small and other things here and there and they look perfect. I’d guess I’ve printed 100 pages or so at this point and the ink levels are still very good as well.
The drum replacement for these costs more than standard printers, but they last a lot longer and it should prove to be more economical in the long run.
If you have a need for a solid business printer or an overkill family printer—and you have the space for it-- then this is a terrific choice!

Another great Ninja product!

I’ve had the Ninja Foodi Deluxe Pressure Cooker and Air Fryer for a few weeks now and have been able to test a number of its different functions. Overall this is another solid multi-function unit from Ninja—the kings of ‘multi-use kitchen gadgets!’
The best thing so far, and my favorite use, is the air-fryer. I’ve always wanted to try an air fryer but didn’t like the buy-in for a device I wasn’t sure about. This is a great way to get into it, as this device does so many things, you’ll still feel like you got a good deal even if you don’t use all NINE functions.
I don’t see myself ever using the yogurt function, and probably not the dehydrating function, but I’ve used the other seven and have been very impressed with how well it works.
There is a learning curve, so be prepared to read a bit. The manual that is included is thorough, and there are a ton of videos online for in-depth demonstrations of any particular function. There is also a recipe book with some very tasty recipes!
As far as ‘air-frying’ goes, it does a good job. It’s no substitute for good ol’ greasy fried food, but it’s so much healthier and such a close proximity to fried that it’s a decent substitute that is much healthier. It’s also very easy to do, and the food still tastes crispy. I had to try a few times and experiment with the crisper function—the first time was too much, the second time not enough, but I think I’ve got it now. I have made chicken strips and French fries so far, and both were delicious and not greasy. It’s fun to do and makes you feel like you’re doing something right for your body!
The slow-cooker works well, and the 8-quart size is fantastic for our family of 5. This is 3-quarts bigger than the slow-cooker we already owned, so that’s one gadget that’s been replaced. Ninja is fantastic at making sure that there are a ton of options for each function. We made a 3-lb roast with vegetables and it turned out tender and juicy, and wasn’t overcooked even though it cooked for 8 hours.
The pressure-cooker is terrific as well. It amazes me how fast a large roast can cook compared to oven time. Like any new device I had to experiment with it a bit to figure out the times that worked to get the meat done the way I liked it. Again, there are a ton of settings and options to try so it wasn’t too much work to find a setting.
I’ve also tried the steamer and really enjoyed it—vegetables were crisp-tender without being soggy and tasted delicious. Another gadget replaced!
The only down-side I’ve found is that with this buy-in price you still to pay extra for some accessories. There are a lot of items included, so really they are just specialty accessories, but at this price it would have been nice to have everything included with it. The one I really want is the bread pan. That’s really more of a ‘splurge’ item so it’s not too big a deal. Ninja does offer some nice discounts on accessories when you register your product.
Overall, like most Ninja products, this device does a lot of things, and does them all very well! I’ll be replacing my current pressure-cooker (which is slightly larger than this) along with my crock pot, so it will save space too. With a family of five anything that helps me save space is a winner in my book!

Dominate in style with the Dell G7 17-inch gaming laptop with thin, sleek design, 10th Gen Intel Core processor, NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2070 (Max-P) discrete graphics, Game Shift technology and 4-zone RGB keyboard.

What's the approximate cost of a replacement battery?

Most sites have the G7 battery listed at about $80.

So im really trying to choose between the 17.3 inch and the 15.7 inch. I have some questions and it would be great if you can help me with choosing. 1st question: Is the 17.3 inch storage upgradable? 2nd: How much better is the max in the 15.7 inch?

With most gaming laptops upgrading the storage means replacing the drive in the system (there simply isn't room for another drive in most cases--which I believe is the case for either of these models). Your best bet is investing in a portable, external hard drive and taking it with the laptop. You can, of course, replace the drive in the system, but that can be pretty difficult since you'll need to copy a lot of the information in the current hard drive first, then transfer it all to the new drive, etc.

Control your home’s heating and cooling system remotely with this LUX Wi-Fi thermostat. The Android and iOS companion app supports geofencing, smart scheduling and personalization settings for efficiency, and compatibility with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa offers convenient voice control. This LUX Wi-Fi thermostat works with electric, gas, oil and forced-air systems for versatility.

Can the thermostat be locked via the software so unauthorized people wouldn't be able to change the settings? I couldn't find this info in the users manual.

Yes--there is a very simple setting for this in the app (and ONLY in the app as far as I can tell)

Get the same possibilities as a full size oven, with quality results, in a convenient countertop size with the KitchenAid® Dual Countertop Oven with Temperature Probe. It's large capacity helps you save time and bake 2 whole chickens* at once. It also features a built-in temperature probe for more control during the cooking process, for perfect cooking results time after time. In addition, it features 12 preset cooking functions, an easy to read digital display, an interior light to check progress at any time without disrupting your dish, and a non-stick interior for quick and easy clean every time. Will a standard 1/4 sheet baking pan (9.5"X13") fit in the oven?

No. There is a smaller baking pan that comes with it, but the dimensions you describe are too large.

Experience great gaming with this OMEN Obelisk desktop computer. Its NVIDIA GeForce graphics and Intel Core i7 processor are suitable for virtual reality games, and the 1TB hard drive and 256GB solid-state drive provide extensive storage and fast boot times. This OMEN Obelisk desktop computer's case opens without tools for easy expansion.

I wanted to add another 16GB ram stick. What ram stick is compatible with the current hyper x fury 16 gb stick?

Kingston Technology HyperX Fury Black 16GB 2666MHz DDR4 CL16 DIMM (HX426C16FB/16)---that is the exact match for what's in the system now. If you want to try and find a cheaper match (good luck!) then you'll want to make sure the 16gb and 2666 mhz speed match, and of course that it's DDR4 and for a desktop. Amazon currently has a single stick on sale that matches for the lowest price I've seen, but it's the same exact memory stick. There may be cheaper, more generic options available as well.

Enjoy crisp, colorful picture quality with this Full HD HP monitor. The ultrathin bezel on the 27-inch screen provides an expansive viewing area so you can stay productive, and its AMD FreeSync technology reduces input lag and screen tearing. This HP monitor has two HDMI ports for connecting gaming consoles and other devices.

Is there any way to use a speaker with this monitor?

You'd have to have the speakers connected to your computer system itself--there are no speaker outputs on the monitor.

Nest Doorbell (Wired) lets you know who’s there, so you never miss a thing. It replaces your existing wired doorbell and delivers HD video and bright, crisp images, even at night. It’s designed to show you everything at your doorstep — people head to toe or packages on the ground. And with 24/7 streaming, you can check in anytime. Or go back and look at a 3-hour snapshot history to see what happened.*

Will Google Hello do a better job in regards to lag (delay) and motion detection? I had another video doorbell (rhimes with Ding) which could not adequately connect to the wifi, terrable lag, poor motion detection (false alarms and missed live ones).

From my testing there was very little lag. There is some, of course, but it was maybe 1-2 seconds behind. The motion detection seems to be perfect. It ignores far off motion, but records anything within 10-15 feet.

Listen to your favorite tunes on the go with this rechargeable iHome IBT74BC speaker, which features a Bluetooth interface, so you can stream music from most Bluetooth-enabled devices, including select Apple®, Android and BlackBerry models.

Does this only come with a cord to charge or does it have something you can plug into the wall with?

It plugs directly into an outlet (the plug is actually pretty large, the wire itself is not).
