This router is a beast!

I received the Linkysys EA9500 router as part of Best Buy's tech insider network for my honest review.
First thing to know is that this router is very large and is not designed to be mounted. You will need a fairly sizeable area (it's larger than our Wii U)somewhere safe to place it. If you have small children like I do they will think this thing looks super cool (like a light up spider!) and they WILL want to play with it.
It is packaged well with lots of form-fitted styrofoam padding that the router sits in snugly. All of the antennas are pre-installed so no worries there. There is also a power cord, data cable and cd-rom, along with very brief set-up instructions.
Set up is a breeze. As soon as it's plugged in and connected with the data wire a number of new networks will be available, all with the name of the router and varying connection types. Make sure you have the instruction sheet handy as the initial network password is listed on it. I suggest doing this part on a tablet or laptop, as once it connects the device will be directed to Linksys website for the rest of the set-up. This part is very easy and gives a step-by-step walk-through on how to set up a Linksys account (or the opportunity to log in if you already have an account). The website allows the connections to be renamed, passwords to be set for both connections and the router, and various other more technical settings (channels and what not) to be adjusted.
The speeds are very fast (I was able to achieve faster than advertised in most of my tests--I'm rated for 50 down from AT&T U-verse and constantly achieved 60 on my connections). The range is long, as I was able to exit my apartment and go upstairs, downstairs and into the parking lot a considerable distance before not seeing the networks at all (do NOT skip the security step, and DO set a difficult but easy to remember password--the security is the best you can get for a consumer router, but it's still only as good as your password). I suggest hiding the guest connection if you're in an apartment or closely built home. but you can add a password to the guest connection as well.
The ONLY issue I've had is that the 5 Ghz band would randomly drop and need to be reconnected. I am fairly certain I need to get in adjust the channels I'm using for that, as several others reported this as an issue and fix. I've been fine on the 2.4 Ghz connection though. At any given time I have roughly a dozen devices connected--2 gaming systems, 2 phones, 2 rokus, a television, 3 tablets and a laptop (and that's probably not everything). Testing netflix through the rokus and my laptop I've had no issues at all with buffering or loss of signal. The same with youtube through six different devices. In almost every case the videos (either cartoons for my kids or HD movie trailers to test the speed) were finished loading well before I finished watching.
Overall this thing is a beast, both in size and specs. It is the perfect device if you need a strong signal for a large area, or have a lot of devices connected at once like I do. If you're thinking about cutting the cord and still want a great streaming signal (assuming your ISP is up to speed) then you can't go wrong with this router.

Good tablet for the price--especially for kids
on May 31, 2016

The best thing about the Acer Iconia One 8" tablet is the price. Finding a tablet that works well and is reliable for under $100 is an amazing thing these days, particularly if you have several young children like I do. You can get one of these for three children for the same price as an ipad mini. To be clear it's NOT an Ipad mini, but it is a solid tablet that can run most anything.
The tablet itself is attractive--white plastic with a good looking screen. It's light and easy to hold. If you are going to let young children use it I do recommend a solid case, as the tablet is plastic and will bend (and likely break) if put under too much stress.
The instructions recommend charging it out of the box, but mine came fully charged (I have no idea if this is typical or not). Set up was a breeze--it walks you through step-by-step and takes less than five minutes. It's an android operating system so it uses the google play app store. You can also link it to Amazon's app store fairly easily. There are quite a few links to "recommended" apps already on the tablet. They are easy to install if you're interested, and easy to remove if you're not.
The screen itself is good, with bright, vivid colors. I tested a high definition movie through the Vudu app, and while it played, it did not look great. Less than HD videos played perfectly fine, and looked as good as they could. In my experience kids do not mind at all if the video quality isn't excellent, so this may or may not matter, but if you're particular about having the best video quality you probably want to look elsewhere. I tried a couple of game apps (the farm app and a star wars game) and the video quality on those was outstanding, with no noticeable chop or washing out of the picture.
The processor is good enough that games played very smoothly, even when a lot was happening on screen. I did notice with extended game play (an hour or more) the tablet did get warm. Not so hot as to be uncomfortable to hold but noticeably warmer--this happens near the camera so I'm assuming that's where the processor is located.
Speaking of the camera, it's not great and subpar when compared to more expensive tablets. Kids won't care, but most tablets these days have better cameras than this, so it is a knock.
There is a minimum of memory on the tablet, but it is expandable. You are limited by which apps allow themselves to be stored on a memory card (many don't), but the expanded memory slot is fantastic for storing movies to watch on long car trips. You can find micro SD cards up to 128mb, which can hold hundreds of hours of movies--perfect for long car trips.
The description states the battery should last about nine hours with extended use. The longest I used it (between myself and my kids) was about three hours, but the rate it was using the battery looked to be about right for lasting nine hours overall. It uses a micro USB charger for charging, which is great since nearly everything in our household does as well. It's easy to charge either in a car or at home. A wall-charger is included.
Overall if you're looking for a cut-rate tablet that works well you can't go wrong with this one--particularly since it has a one year warranty on parts and labor. It's especially recommended for kids.

Based on the novels of George R.R. Martin, the second season of HBO's Game of Thrones continues to follow kings, queens, lords, ladies, thieves, liars, and fearsome wild tribes as they battle man and beast alike in all manner of harsh landscapes to gain and keep power for their respective families. The show's vast web of plotlines follows two exiled members of Westeros' previous ruling family, who are seeking the means to take back the throne by force, as well as Stark's illegitimate son Jon Snow (Kit Harington), who volunteers to join an organization protecting the northern region from possible invaders. As the second season begins, several contenders for the Iron Throne begin their machinations to claim the coveted position. This set contains every episode of the smash hit show's second season, and also features a collectible Sigil magnet.

I'm assuming at this point you're already familiar with the show, so my review is purely for the steelbook. It is gorgeous! Unfortunately the magnet is on the cheap side and wholly unnecessary (it would have been better if they'd embossed the case frankly) but still, if you love this show and want a nice case to show it off in this is the case for you. The only thing I don't like about it is that they haven't made one for each season yet (only the first two). A beautiful addition to any steelbook collection.

Easy set up and great speed!
on February 12, 2016

I have had the linksys router for about 10 days now. The set-up was very easy--I disconnected my old cable-provided router and plugged it straight into the linksys. It detected it right away, so then I hopped on my laptop, found the network and followed the instructions. Very quick and easy set up, and at both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz a variety of connections the options are plentiful--should be able to connect to any device out there.
I waited a few days to test at different times to check the speeds, and ALWAYS got the top speeds my provider says I should, and a few times got more (but never less). It's always a solid connection. The range is long--I tested on my phone and made it at least 100 yards from my house before losing it.
If you need a wireless router this is one of the best I've used. Highly recommended.
What's great about it: Easy and fast
What's not so great: it's a little bulky

great for pet hair

After receiving the Bissel smartclean robot vacuum I was pretty excited to try it out. The set-up is fairly easy, though it would have been nice to have a "quick set up" guide like most electronics have. It took longer than it should have to figure out where everything goes. The unit does have to charge for a while before first use as well. It comes with a docking station, cord, the vacuum and an invisible wall. Other models have a remote that might actually be handy. The automatic-docking feature is interesting. With a touch of a button you can set it to stop vacuuming (which immediately makes it quieter) and go "home" to it's dock. It takes it a few minutes sometimes depending on how far away it is, but the few times I've tried it the vacuum has always found it's way back. It then sits there and charges until it's ready to use again. It also has a "time remaining" indicator on top that is handy and has been very accurate from my experience.
One of the best uses is to set it to run if you're leaving for a while. The docking function is on with the first button press, so it will run until it's almost out of power, then make it's way back to the docking station and will remain there charging until you run it again. I've used this a few times and it has always been in the station charging when I've returned home.
You can adjust a few settings on it to make it run in different "patterns" such as an x, z, spiral, random or "along the wall" pattern depending on the size and shape of your room. there is also an "invisible wall" device included which is pretty cool. It blocks the robot from going into certain areas that you'd rather it not try to clean (for us this is our front hallway where shoes, coats and random various things are). It takes batteries and can be set up and "forgotten" about.
By far the best use for this is the situation I'm in--hardwood floors with a large dog that sheds a lot (we have a lab). You can run it for an hour to an hour-and-a-half a charge depending on your floors. It takes roughly four hours to fully charge it the first time. We have an area rug that slows the robot down quite a bit. On hardwood floors it picks up a lot of dust and pet hair. After running for 90 minutes the collection bin will definitely be full if you have a pet that sheds.
There are a few cons: It is quieter than a standard vacuum, but still noisy enough that you have to talk louder or turn up your TV if you're in the same room. You can't really set it to run and go to sleep unless you're on another floor. It does next to nothing on carpets and doesn't really have the power or battery-life for that kind of use. You do occasionally have to help the robot--it will get tangled on smaller cords, and sometimes can get stuck under things like chairs, though if you give it enough time it does always work its way out. Also, my dog does not like it haha. She is mostly indifferent, but every now and then the robot finds its way to her and she is not happy about it. We've had a few barking spells.
Overall if you have a need for this kind of product (and let's face it it's a pretty specific need) then this product will work for you. It will not replace a regular vacuum by any stretch, but it will save you from the dreaded 'daily sweeping of the pet hair' that most pet owners go through.

You've probably already heard but this movie is a blast! I love a good steelbook, and unlike other retailers ::cough::TARGET::cough:: this deluxe steelbook actually includes the 3D version! It's a gorgeous package, lots of extras, and you can even sign up for a free movie from Disney Movies Anywhere (wreck-it Ralph I think) when you register this one online. Very much worth it!

Good microwave at a great price
on November 17, 2014

We ended up needing to replace an over-the range microwave when our old one (from 1990!) burned up. I lucked into an open box of this microwave and got an amazing deal. It appeared it was never installed. Either way it works very well. It heats food evenly and quickly. I haven't tried the defrost setting yet. There's a ton of space inside (especially with the shelf removed), the turntable works, and the popcorn setting works well on a standard size bag.
The only complaints I have are that the buttons don't "feel" right--it can take a bit of force for the press to register. The door feels a bit flimsy as well--I'm halfway afraid I'll pull it right off everytime I go to open it. The beeper could be a bit louder as well (it's probably fine, but my old one was very loud and I find this one a little hard to hear). Do be sure and make sure you have the recommended space above your oven, as this is a large microwave. It's a cinch to install--I'm a do-it-yourselfer but I can't imagine anyone having an issue with it.
Overall I very much recommend this, particularly at the recent sale prices.

Amazing

This game is absolutely stunning. I spent about 100 hours or so on Oblivion, and will probably spend more in this game world when it's all said and done. The graphics detector did a nice job (I have a high end system purchased last February and this is the best looking game I've seen yet) and the combat controls are better than they have been in past games, yet still kind of wonky.
For people complaining about the menu system I have my doubts that they've played any of the past games. This is easily the cleanest menu yet, and once you get used to it it's far simpler than oblivion's mess of a menu. Recipes and crafting are much easier to figure out in this game than the past games as well, and they actually are fairly fun and useful.
The biggest selling point for me by far is the feel of "GTA" in a fantasy world. Aside from the "set up" sequence you can do whatever you want in this game. Go anywhere on the map, see anything you want, do a quest, don't do a quest, you can literaly just walk around for 10 hours if that's your sort of thing (although you'd surely encounter something wanting to do you harm at some point).
The special skills menu leaves something to be desired, althogugh the constellation set-up is kind of cool. It's just hard to map out where you want to take your character as that menu system is frustrating to navigate.
Overall this is one of the best games of this genre that I've ever seen.
What's great about it: Huge, open-ended gameplay
What's not so great: if you like this genre, nothing

Excellent Game with a couple of minor issues
on August 3, 2010
Posted by: SgtRock
from Virginia
I was a fan of Starcraft and Brood War but I only ever played the campaigns (meaning I didn't play online). Still, they were fun, well-balanced games that told a pretty decent story. Now, finally, 12 years after comes the long-awaited sequel.
First off, this game is gorgeous. I have a four-year old computer that I keep upgrading components on. I have a 1g graphics card (middle of the line from 2009) and high-end power supply that I upgraded last year, along with 4 gigs of memory on WinXP. Even with that much memory I still run into the occasional message that my graphics have been turned down due to memory loss, so be forewarned--the 'autotune' settings will run well, and the game will look good, but they will use everything your system has. As I said though, the game itself is beautiful. I've seen three of the cutscenes so far and they compare with any CG movie out there (plus, they're very exciting--particularly the ones that haven't been released in the ads yet).
The gameplay is where it's down-graded just a bit, as it's pretty much exactly the same as SC. I suppose that's to be expected from a sequel, but I expected at least some of the RTS innovations that have come along since then to have been applied here (i.e. longer building queues, technology 'stealing', waypoints systems for movement) and really there is nothing new. There are a couple of new units that are cool, and as mentioned before, they all look amazing.
The storyline itself is presented in a Knights of the Old Republic style where you have a ship that acts as your "base" that you can move between levels, select specific technology upgrades and talk to other members of your "crew" for backstory or new missions. It's not exactly innovative, but it's done well, with Blizzards usual eye for detail. There are a couple of fun "easter eggs" hidden throughout, some visual and some interactive, and the "news" is usually good for a chuckle or two.
I've been playing the "normal" setting through 15 missions so far and haven't found anything too challenging. Some of them are optional but provide money or alien technology for future upgrades to your forces. I've heard there are 29 missions overall (which I believe is as many as the original SC had) but most of them are Terran missions. There are also 9 "challenge" modes that are a bit repetitive but fun as a time-killer. Of course there's the usual "skirmish" mode where you can play the computer A.I. over a random map as well. Content-wise it looks to be about the same amount as any other RTS game I've played--particularly the Blizzard RTS games.
I haven't tried the Battlenet match-ups yet, but it looks easy enough to do. You don't have to be online to play, but it calls you a "guest" if you're not (which matters not the least little bit for anything) and doesn't keep track of any sort of stats. I am always connected so I just log in. Word to the Wise #1: buy an authenticator from Blizzard. They're cheap, and will work for any Battlenet game they release from World of Warcraft forward. It's the safest way to protect your account.
Word to the Wise #2: Choose your name carefully when you're installing it because you can't change it later.
If you've never bought a Blizzard collector's edition before then I recommend looking over everything that comes with them and decide if you're interested in that or not. This is the second Collector's Edition I've bought by Blizzard (the other was WotLK) and I've never been disappointed. The items included are high quality (plus, the WoW pet is awesome looking--especially when it flies) and there is a lot.
If you just want the game it's exactly the same in the CE or the regular game.
What's great about it: Blizzard's usual eye for detail and balance
What's not so great: gameplay has not changed much

So im really trying to choose between the 17.3 inch and the 15.7 inch. I have some questions and it would be great if you can help me with choosing. 1st question: Is the 17.3 inch storage upgradable? 2nd: How much better is the max in the 15.7 inch?

With most gaming laptops upgrading the storage means replacing the drive in the system (there simply isn't room for another drive in most cases--which I believe is the case for either of these models). Your best bet is investing in a portable, external hard drive and taking it with the laptop. You can, of course, replace the drive in the system, but that can be pretty difficult since you'll need to copy a lot of the information in the current hard drive first, then transfer it all to the new drive, etc.

Can the thermostat be locked via the software so unauthorized people wouldn't be able to change the settings? I couldn't find this info in the users manual.

Yes--there is a very simple setting for this in the app (and ONLY in the app as far as I can tell)

Will a standard 1/4 sheet baking pan (9.5"X13") fit in the oven?

No. There is a smaller baking pan that comes with it, but the dimensions you describe are too large.

Experience great gaming with this OMEN Obelisk desktop computer. Its NVIDIA GeForce graphics and Intel Core i7 processor are suitable for virtual reality games, and the 1TB hard drive and 256GB solid-state drive provide extensive storage and fast boot times. This OMEN Obelisk desktop computer's case opens without tools for easy expansion.

I wanted to add another 16GB ram stick. What ram stick is compatible with the current hyper x fury 16 gb stick?

Kingston Technology HyperX Fury Black 16GB 2666MHz DDR4 CL16 DIMM (HX426C16FB/16)---that is the exact match for what's in the system now. If you want to try and find a cheaper match (good luck!) then you'll want to make sure the 16gb and 2666 mhz speed match, and of course that it's DDR4 and for a desktop. Amazon currently has a single stick on sale that matches for the lowest price I've seen, but it's the same exact memory stick. There may be cheaper, more generic options available as well.

Enjoy crisp, colorful picture quality with this Full HD HP monitor. The ultrathin bezel on the 27-inch screen provides an expansive viewing area so you can stay productive, and its AMD FreeSync technology reduces input lag and screen tearing. This HP monitor has two HDMI ports for connecting gaming consoles and other devices.

Is there any way to use a speaker with this monitor?

You'd have to have the speakers connected to your computer system itself--there are no speaker outputs on the monitor.

Nest Doorbell (Wired) lets you know who’s there, so you never miss a thing. It replaces your existing wired doorbell and delivers HD video and bright, crisp images, even at night. It’s designed to show you everything at your doorstep — people head to toe or packages on the ground. And with 24/7 streaming, you can check in anytime. Or go back and look at a 3-hour snapshot history to see what happened.*

Will Google Hello do a better job in regards to lag (delay) and motion detection? I had another video doorbell (rhimes with Ding) which could not adequately connect to the wifi, terrable lag, poor motion detection (false alarms and missed live ones).

From my testing there was very little lag. There is some, of course, but it was maybe 1-2 seconds behind. The motion detection seems to be perfect. It ignores far off motion, but records anything within 10-15 feet.

Listen to your favorite tunes on the go with this rechargeable iHome IBT74BC speaker, which features a Bluetooth interface, so you can stream music from most Bluetooth-enabled devices, including select Apple®, Android and BlackBerry models.

Does this only come with a cord to charge or does it have something you can plug into the wall with?

It plugs directly into an outlet (the plug is actually pretty large, the wire itself is not).
