Britney Spears at her best
on June 11, 2009

I have to say this is my favorite Britney Spears album. She really came into her own with this cd. Now we start to hear what Britney is all about. Her songs are great and this cd shows everyone why she is Britney Spears.

Even better than the first

Just when everyone thought Britney Spears could never reach number one again. She comes out with Oops I Did It Again and I have to say she did it again. This cd was a lot different than her first cd but it shows that Britney was changing her sound a little. But again she had another #1 hit.

Great Comedy

I will say that when I first saw this show I was not a big fan of it. It took a little getting used to. But now that I have seen every episode I am such a big fan. The whole cast is amazing and I think this show should have never ended.
What's great about it: Everything
What's not so great: It should still be on television

Adam Shankman's comedy Bringing Down the House comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. An English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, and a French soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are no subtitles, but the English soundtrack is closed-captioned. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by Shankman and screenwriter Jason Filardi. While short on any real insight into the film, the commentary makes it obvious that the pair had a fabulous time making the film and they do their best to communicate that feeling. A making-of featurette is paint-by-numbers. There is a short and very funny featurette on how Eugene Levy brought his knowledge of hip-hop culture to the film. A music video from Queen Latifah, deleted scenes, and a gag reel round out this strong package from Disney/Buena Vista.

The family drama A Home of Our Own comes to DVD from MGM Home Entertainment. Presented with a widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital Surround Sound. Subtitles available in French and Spanish. The only special feature is the original theatrical trailer. This DVD is a totally adequate release for family entertainment.

Britney Spears' movie debut arrives on DVD in a package tailored to teens. Crossroads is presented in anamorphic widescreen 1.85:1, with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Both English and French soundtrack options are available, along with English subtitles. A multitude of special features are available. The more mundane extras include a "Photo Gallery," three "Trailer & TV Spots" and the "DVD Credits." Three different "Featurettes" give behind the scenes views. "The Making of Crossroads: 40 Days With Britney" is an insider's look at the movie and it includes cast and crew interviews. "Taryn's T-Shirts" is a How-To piece that gives detailed instructions by Taryn Manning on creating the retro t-shirts the trio wore in the New Orleans Karaoke scene. "First in Line: Inside the Crossroads Premiere" is hosted by Zoe Saldana who gives an intimate look at the excitement and exhaustion of a premiere. Several "Deleted Scenes" are included with On-Camera Introductions by Director Tamra Davis. A number of humorous outtakes involving Lucy's (Spears) lab partner, Henry (Justin Long) trying unsuccessfully to seduce her make this piece especially worth watching. A "Commentary by Producer Ann Carli, Director Tamra Davis & Writer Shonda Rhimes" gives amusing anecdotes about the actresses involved. It could not be a Britney DVD if "Music Videos" of "Overprotected" and "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" were not included. Spears' involvement is found in "Britney's DVD Welcome" and "Break Through Britney," a Pop-Up extra that allows viewers to see Britney break through the movie in a small pink bubble to share her personal memories. Two features appealing to the Pop star wannabe are "Edit Your Own Music Video" which allows participants to choose the order of video sequences in Britney's "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" video and "Sing Along With Britney" which includes Karaoke videos of "Overprotected" and "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman." On a whole, Crossroads' DVD is a great package that should leave fans "Anticipating" more work from Britney as an actress.

Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, stars of the popular Nickelodeon series All That, confront the ogre of faceless corporate tyranny and have fun doing it in this comedy for young people. Ed (Mitchell) is a teenager who lives for his job at Good Burger, a small but friendly neighborhood hamburger stand, while his buddy Dexter (Thompson) also works there, but lack Ed's single-minded devotion to his job -- he's there because he accidentally destroyed the car of his teacher Mr. Wheat (Sinbad) and has to raise money to pay the damages. When Mondo Burger, a mammoth fast-foot chain, opens across the street, it looks like Good Burger is history, until Ed formulates a secret sauce that brings hundreds of new customers to their door. However, the monomaniacal manager of Mondo Burger, Kurt (Jan Schweiterman), is determined to get his hands on the sauce and put Good Burger out of business. Meanwhile, Ed and Dexter must rescue Otis (Abe Vigoda), the world's oldest fast food employee, from the Demented Hills Asylum, and Ed might just find love with Monique (Shar Jackson) if he could take his mind off the burgers long enough to pay attention to her. Good Burger also features basketball star Shaquille O'Neal as himself and George Clinton as one of the Demented Hills inmates.

This fantasy-comedy for the whole family gets a respectable presentation for its release on DVD. Little Monsters has been transferred to disc in pan-and-scan format at the full-screen aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo; the dialogue is in English, with optional subtitles in English, French and Spanish. The movie's original trailer has been included as a bonus.
