Picked this up yesterday from BestBuy. Super fast to set up. This is a replacement for my Gateway 7805U which did have a 1920X1200 Screen resolution but the older P8400 Core 2 Duo Processor. The screen res on this is 1600X900 and is bright and clear. Great sound system too. Plays Black Ops too. I'm a gamer so I need something that can keep up with latest games. The aluminum frame makes this machine sturdy and it's a lot lighter than my Gateway. No problems encountered so far. Very happy with the purchase. Bestbuy people were more than helpful. Oh and the fingerprint reader is a nice addition.
Cons:Wish it had the 7200RPM harddrive but I ordered a 750GB 7200RPM replacement. Like everyone else don't like the touchy mousepad. Wish the arrow keys were full size as I use these for gaming. The only other thing I wish it had would be lighted keyboard. All in all this is a great price for what you get. You won't be disappointed.
What's great about it: Screen resolution,Fingerprint Reader,Fast Processor,6GB Ram,Aluminum Frame,Sound System
What's not so great: Mousepad,5400rpm HardDrive,Small Arrow Keys

It's a core i7 why would it not perform well ? I have the same laptop and it plays any game I want flawlessly with no lag.As far as no CD player. You knew that when you bought it !!! You can get a portable CD player (USB) if you want. They are around $69.

Great little laptop for such a price. It is well built with descent material not flimsy and overall quality construction. I like 13.3 inch size with very light weight body makes it very convenient for transporting. Pluses are high speed processor with latest I7 5th Gen from intel, 8 GB RAM and 1 TB hard drive. Keyboard is really good with well Backlit. TouchPad could be little more responsive. Tablet mode is good but the screen does not fully fold back but it is kind of lossely hanging there with keyboard. Try yourself at bestbuy store to see for yourself. I would have preferred a SSD over conventional hard drive. Although the screen is full hd, the screen Backlit isn't enough, it is kind of dull and akward for a latest generation of laptop. Overall I am happy that I just paid 800 dollars for a good quality machine with big brand name behind it that is well known for their best customer service. I would definitely recommend it

You have to go into power settings. Otherwise the screen will dim automatically. Had to find this out by myself. Even the Geek Squad didn't know this.

I had it for 2 weeks until it abruptly shutdown one night. I loved it's features and premium feel, but it turned back on once after dying only to show a screen full of static lines and then shutdown for good. It's too bad it was great while it ran.

Got a bad one too

My charger quit charging so they sents a tech to my house (1 yr in home service) they put in a new motherboard and the wifi card broke while they were doing that. Nextime time they fixed the wifi card an then the Alienware lights went out in the screen area. Next they replaced the motherboard again and fixed the lights. So far it's working fine.The laptop is awesome tho. This is my 5th Alienware and love them all.

Unable to recognizing available wifi connections.
I continue to lose Internet connect. At times the computer is inable to recognize available wifi connections that my iPAd, phone and old laptop are able to connect to. I have repeatedly called Dell about this. 1st call they told me it was a Windows 10 issue. Took an hour for them to walk me through reinstalling the driver. Today had a 2nd phone call to Dell tech support. I was told these computers can have a bad network card and it would need to be replaced. Ugh! I am thinking of returning to Best Buy.
Yes take it back and exchange it !

Ive tried to play good games on my other pc but it just doesn't work, is this a good computer for gaming?
I play Black Ops 1 and 2 plus Call of Duty hosts and others and hae no issues playing these games.
