IF YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF A CAMEO FAN THIS COLLECTABLE IS A MUST GET!! I SAW THESE GUYS IN NC ON 6/21/08, THEY ABSOLUTELY ROCKED FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR!! IF YOU ARE READING THIS REVIEW LOOK FOR CAMEO IN A CITY NEAR YOU! LARRY BLACKMON ALSO ANNOUNCED (ON STAGE) THAT IN FEB OF 09 THEY HAVE A 30 YEAR ANNIVERSARY DISC COMING OUT!!
I'm impressed with Ross' effort on this record. A lot of artists get complacent and put out lackluster second albums, especially if the 1st one was hot. Ross showed different delivery and variety of producers as well as artists feautured on this record. This album provides the listener with riding music especially the joint with Mannie Fresh! Get this album and you will not be disappointed with RR's effort.
If you remember Buckshot from Black Moon you will completely enjoy this album from top to bottom. 9th Wonder is a genious and blessed Buckshot on the Formula. If you don't have the Chemistry its a must get as well. The Formula continues where the Chemistry left off in my opinion. If you like Duck Down and the movement, GET THIS ALBUM!!!
What's great about it: PURE HIP-HOP AT ITS FINEST!!
This release is good and proves Sheek is a viable solo artist. A lot of people thought that he wouldn't be able to come out with another solo joint. Independents are winning in this battle for hip-hop. 'Good Love' is the only commercial sounding joint but a great concept and well put together. The video for the song is tight too. The features on this album are good as well and a must buy for Lox and hip-hop fans in general.
What's great about it: For Lox fans and people who sleep on Louch
Prodigy brought the streets to wax on this release. If you're a fan of the old MOBB DEEP sound you are gonna love this album! The production on this album is superb and is the reason I love independent projects. I feel like major labels would not take a chance on an album like this and releases like this are needed to balance out hip-hop and rap. Alchemist is a monster on the tracks as well as some up and coming producers. Prodigy also shot some ill videos for this album as well, the illest being ABC, its like horror meeting hip hop. This album is a must get if you're tired of singy-songy hooks and lyrics!
Bun is definately underrated and is one of the best MC's in the game. Even though Bun is getting older, his lyrics are getting better and I feel he and his voice are needed in hip-hop right now. Pimp C will be missed but Bun will carry the UGK legacy forever. Support Bun B...UGK 4 Life!!
I thought the album was good although doesn't grab you like classic hip-hop albums. The hype wasn't matched with a great album although this is one of the years best releases. I feel like wayne showed some versatility especially with some of the features. All of wayne's fans will have a problem with this review but they too will say that the mixtape stuff is better than album from top to bottom. He can't be best rapper alive without a classic like Jay-Z's 'Black Album' where you really don't have to skip a track. A classic in my opinion is where its hard to skip a track or you got a track or tracks on repeat. More examples: Nas' Illmatic, Tribe's Low End Theory, Pac's All Eyes On Me, B.I.G's Ready to Die, Outkasts' Aquemini, DRE's Chronic.(that's enough of examples, there is more though) This review is not to tarnish Wayne but to let his fans know what classic is. Many too young to understand what classic sounds like. Too be honest with you the Game's Documentary is more of a classic than any of Wayne's releases. Oh well enough of my opinion. Maybe after I listen some more he can get close to classic, but right now I don't hear it.
What's great about it: variety of sounds and topics
This album is a much needed one for hip-hop! Hip-hop needs that balance right now and this album is very refreshing!!! 9th keep doin your thing man! If you are reading this review this album should be a part of your collection!!!
