Must Have Album
on October 11, 2008

Jay Z is one of the best rappers - this album is definitely not his best work but still is far above other rap albums. Best songs are Moment of Clarity, Lucifer, Threat, 99 Problems...believe it or not the Interlude is up there as the second or third best. How many albums can you say that?
Buy this now!
What's great about it: 14 great songs from Jay Z!
What's not so great: Not the greatest Jay Z album

Peter Segal directs Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore in the fine romantic comedy 50 First Dates. The film is presented in a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.40:1. The image on the disc is faithful to Jack Green's fine cinematography, which lovingly captures Hawaii at its most beautiful. English and French soundtracks are written in Dolby Digital 5.1. English and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track written by Segal and Barrymore. This is an entertaining track mostly because the two of them are very loquacious and obviously enjoy each other's company. Those who are charmed by Barrymore's public persona will not be disappointed. Deleted scenes with optional commentary, a blooper reel, and a smattering of featurettes round out this solid release of an unexpectedly charming film.

I liked this movie alot. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are always a good team. Its one of those movies you can watch more than once so from that perspective its definitely worth buying if you are considering the purchase.
What's great about it: Great storyline; good acting
What's not so great: A bit corny and not funny for all audiences

Classic Album - Underrated
on October 9, 2008

This album is one of the must under-rated of all time. I had this cd back in 1993 and I loved each and every song on it. Beats were great, vocals, and rap flow were off the hook. I must admit I still occasionally throw this CD in. If you still buy CD's, I would say buy this album - as you can see I gave it 5 stars - you wont be disappointed.
What's great about it: Every song is good - not many albums like it
What's not so great: female rap groups are not incredibly popular

Barry Levinson's Academy Award-winning comedy drama about a callow young man who learns a great deal during a road trip with his autistic brother gets a top-flight presentation for this special-edition DVD release. Rain Man has been given a letterboxed transfer to disc in the widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1, which has also been enhanced for anamorphic playback on 16 x 9 monitors. The original English soundtrack has been remixed for playback in Dolby Digital 5.1, while a dubbed French version appears in Dolby Digital Surround and a Spanish track is in Dolby Digital Mono. The feature also includes optional subtitles in English, French, and Spanish. Headlining the list of bonus materials are no fewer than three commentary tracks from director Barry Levinson and screenwriters Ronald Bass and Barry Morrow. Also included is a deleted scene, a short feature on the making of Rain Man, a gallery of still photos, and the original theatrical trailer.

Great Movie for only 10 dollars!

This is one of the best movies of all times! Everyone I know who's seen it has enjoyed it. It's one of those movies that you want to have in your collection just in case you want to watch it one day. Cruise and Hoffman work really well together and feed off of each other the whole movie. Cruise is actually pretty funny in this movie. I would say buy this movie if you haven't seen it and buy this movie if you've seen it and absolutely love it!
What's great about it: Hoffman & Cruise put together an amazing performance - award winning!
What's not so great: Somewhat slow moving at times

This set combines the first two Adam Sandler starring vehicles. Happy Gilmore features the former SNL star as a former hockey player who finds success as a professional golfer. Billy Madison finds the comic as the spoiled son of a millionaire who is forced to return to elementary school in order to eventually graduate and receive his substantial inheritance. Sandler ended up naming his production company by combining the titles of these movies.

Two great movies - Best price!

Both movies are some of my all time favorites. I know people who bought them separately for about 10 dollars each. Here it's for $15 total! Can't beat that. Adam Sandler is and will always be hilarious. I would say that Billy Madison is the better of the two but both are great so you have my approval to buy this!
What's great about it: Two movies for 15 dollars; Great Movies on top of that!
What's not so great: quality of movie isnt great as listed in another review

Gus Van Sant's Finding Forrester comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Surround, while a French soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Stereo. Subtitles for both of those languages are accessible as well. Supplemental materials include the HBO making-of featurette, deleted scenes, theatrical trailers, cast and crew biographies, production notes, and (most interestingly) a short featurette abut the discovery of Rob Brown, the unknown who delivers a fine lead performance in the film.

I really enjoyed this movie and I watch it probably once every six months if not more! Sean Connery is awesome in this movie and I think if you are a sports/movie fan this is a movie for you. It's up there with the likes of GoodWillHunting and Rudy.
Buy this movie - you wont be disappointed.
What's great about it: Great storyline and always has your attention
What's not so great: Nothing coming to mind..It's that good!

Mel Gibson's Academy award-winning epic Braveheart comes to DVD in a fairly basic presentation that includes a widescreen, anamorphic transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 and Surround Audio, and a commentary by Gibson. A "making of" featurette and two theatrical trailers complete this adequate disc. With any luck, a deluxe version of the DVD will be released in the not too distant future; Braveheart deserves better.

One of the Best Movies Ever - with Mel Gibson:(

Aside from Mel Gibson being Mel Gibson - just judging the movie alone this was one of the best films ever! I gave it 3 stars because Mel Gibson accounted for the drop. But if you like a good movie about courage, leadership, and freedom with great moving scenes - buy it. If you dont like Mel Gibson - power to you.
What's great about it: Great Movie (Used to be my all time favorite)
What's not so great: Mel Gibson isnt of the greatest moral character

Good Movie - Passes Time

Who doesn't want to be a Wedding Crasher? Great idea for a movie, plot is ok, but Vince and Owen are two of the funniest people when they get together. I would say buy it if you liked Old School or movies like that.
What's great about it: The two main stars are a hilarious tandem and have great chemistry
What's not so great: Plot is sorta silly and of course very corny

Seinfeld co-creator Larry David's hit HBO comedy series finds its way to DVD courtesy of HBO Video. Presented in its original 1.33:1 full-frame aspect ratio, the image sports even colors and skin tones with solid blacks and no obvious edge enhancement. Audio is offered in both English and French Dolby Digital Stereo and rings through with solid clarity. In addition to innovative packaging, the menu design of the set makes for both intuitive navigation and some interesting features. In addition to getting a quick summary of each episode, viewers also have the opportunity to preview each episode on the menu screen -- a minor feature, but also an innovative one that certainly makes sense. Though the disc isn't exactly brimming with extra features, the ones that are offered are both informative and entertaining. Commentary is only provided for the first episode, entitled "The Pants Tent"; it features Robert Weide, Jeff Garlin, Larry David, and Cheryl Hines, who offer an interesting look at the relationships behind the scenes while explaining the benefits of the series' handheld aesthetic and praising their ability to "phone act." Slightly more revealing is a 30-minute Bob Costas interview with David. As the two men discuss the motivations behind the original one-hour special, Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm (also included in its entirety), the improvisational method that has become the staple of the series, inspiration, and music, viewers are offered a rare look at the Larry David behind the hapless curmudgeon of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Top 2 Favorite Show of All Time!
on September 30, 2008

Larry David, co creator of Seinfeld, can be best compared to George from Seinfeld. The show is so perfectly set up and the plot and storyline is always in sync. Larry is really clever and on top of that most of the show is improv. I started watching a few years back and haven't missed one episode. I have the whole series on DVD and I highly recommend you start here!
What's great about it: Larry David is a genius and on top of that really funny!
What's not so great: The show is not for everyone - humor is unique to a certain special group :)
