Gene Kelly's 1969 musical comedy Hello Dolly! comes to DVD from 20th Century Fox Home Video with a widescreen anamorphic transfer. Audio is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo in English and Dolby Digital 1.0 Mono is Spanish and French. Subtitles are available in English and Spanish. Closed captions are also accessible. Special features include theatrical trailers and the original 1969 behind-the-scenes featurette. This disc is recommended for fans of Barbara Streisand's movie musicals.

Much better than the VCR tape
on September 9, 2012

If you're looking at this DVD, you obviously know the story. I bought this for my wife to replace her VCR tape, the DVD transfer is quite good. Not much in the way of special features, but if you want to see this movie, it's never looked better!
What's great about it: Great transfer to DVD

Great hard drive for multimedia server!

Build or modify your own PC:Yes
Level of Expertise:Expert
Primary reason for building/modifying PC:Multimedia (music, movies, photos)
Purchased this hard drive as the centerpiece of my Windows Home Server installation. Ordered on Christmas day and got it 4 days later, can't complain about the quick (and free) shipping. Kudos to Best Buy for carrying this type of leading edge hardware!
When I received it, I was very pleased to see it's actually a 64MB cache instead of the older 32MB cache model. Installed quickly and works very well, Fast, quiet, and the best warranty (5yr) you can get! What's not to like?
I need to comment on the reliability and support from Western Digital as well. I've always had great reliability from WD drives (since my first purchase in 1988) and the one time I had a problem, their prepaid warranty return allowed me to get my replacement drive within two days. Will always select WD products!!!
What's great about it: Large & fast hard drive, excellent WD reliability!
What's not so great: Nothing, really!

Keep your clothes and washing machine sparkling with these Affresh tablets. They remove soap residue and mildew odors, so washed clothes smell fresh, and they're specially engineered for use with high-efficiency washers. Drop one of these Affresh tablets in an empty washer for cleaner clothes, and their formula is safe to use with septic systems.

Got this after about a year of suffering with our front-loader. Cleaned up the smell, and we use them every month or two to keep it fresh. What else can you say? It does the job!
What's great about it: Solves the smelly washer problem
What's not so great: it's not free???

Peter Sellers and an all-star cast are featured in the James Bond spoof Casino Royale. The film is presented in a great-looking 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. There are bright, bold colors among the dark black levels, making the image almost dreamlike with its 1960s feel. While there are some instances of dirt and grain in the picture, overall this is a great transfer by MGM. The soundtrack is presented in a newly created Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround remix in English. Because the original recording wasn't in the best of shape, this 5.1 mix is limited -- the biggest boost comes in the form of composer Burt Bacharach's catchy music score. Otherwise the bulk of this track is focused in the front and center speakers. All aspects of the mix are mostly free of any excessive hiss or distortion. MGM has thrown on a few fun extra features, starting with the original 1954 TV movie of the same name (presented in black-and-white full-frame version). 007 fans will be thrilled to get this first-ever filmed version of the movie that was originally broadcast live. A 20-minute featurette on the making of the film hosted by Val Guest gives viewers a few juicy tidbits to chew on, including the alleged feud between stars Sellers and Orson Welles. Finally, there is a theatrical trailer for the film presented in non-anamorphic widescreen.

A great romp! Lots of fun...

I have always loved this movie, it's a tongue-in-cheek spoof of the rest of the James Bond series. The acting is sometimes a little put-on, but that's the whole idea here. From the Burt Bacharach soundtrack, to David Niven (as the "original" James Bond), Peter sellers, and the rest of the cast, it's just a lot of fun.
The DVD also contains the original TV version of Casino Royale (which I had never seen) so it also managed to expand my horizons and add to my Bond collection. A must-have!!!
What's great about it: An amusing counterpoint to the rest of the Bond collection
What's not so great: nothing, really!

Best choice for keeping your Garmin up to date
on April 19, 2010
Posted by: majorgeek
from O'Fallon IL
This is the way to go if you are ever going to upgrade your Garmin GPS. After 2 single updates, you've made your money back. The download and update takes a while (some other reviews have mentioned this so I won't go into more detail rehashing their experiences--just be patient and let the update work it's way through).
As mentioned, this purchase only works for one unit - it checks on your myGarmin account and keys the upgrade to that particular GPS.
I spoke to Garmin about a multiple use license, they don't have that yet but if enough of us suggest it they might get the idea (I've got 3 of these units, I'd really like a group discount). For now, I just keep waiting for a sale...
What's great about it: Pay once for your lifetime updates
What's not so great: Download takes a while, no "family" option for upgrade packs

Funny, if somewhat silly, movie about getting buried in the details and forgetting about the deeper meaning of Christmas. Was a big hit with my visiting family - so I sent them all copies (from BestBuy.com, naturally!)
What's great about it: Funny look at the "hassles" of Christmas preparations

Great mount--very stable and flexible
on January 31, 2009
Posted by: majorgeek
from O'Fallon IL
The design of this mount allows me to place it on the dash, or at the bottom of my radio stack (just in front of the shifter--my favorite location). The other mount that Garmin sold at the time (the big round donut) didn't allow me to do that, so this was the best choice.
I liked it so well I've now bought a second one for my new nuvi GPS.
As other folks have mentioned, it is a little pricey, but I didn't mind. Any other (generic) mount that I found didn't have the flaps, so I waited to catch the second one on sale.
Definitely a good choice . . .
What's great about it: Very stable and adjustable, doesn't move at all!
What's not so great: Expensive

Nice changer with upconvert!
on January 31, 2009
Posted by: majorgeek
from O'Fallon IL
This DVD player was a good value overall, but I'm not sure the picture quality is quite as good as my Yamaha single DVD player (also with upconverting).
For the price, access to 5 discs and pretty good picture quality overall it is a good player, and I've always felt Sony was a good brand. If you are not ready to pull the trigger on a blu-ray (and don't want to replace your entire DVD collection) you will be happy with this changer.
What's great about it: 5-disc access, easy setup
What's not so great: Upconverting is so-so

Would have preferred it with Windows 7
By Bice from Harrisburg, PA
This laptop is actually for my wife - the hard drive in her previous laptop died, and she decided she'd rather just get a whole new computer rather than try to replace the drive. If we had known what a pain Windows 8 was, we probably would have gone with replacing the drive. Why does Microsoft feel they need to completely re-invent the wheel every time they put out a new version of Windows? Trying to set anything up on this computer was a real pain - it took me forever just to figure out how to get to Control Panel. All so Microsoft could make our computer look more like a cell phone. Thanks, Microsoft.
Once we got it set up, Windows kept urging us to upgrade to version 8.1. So we did...only to find out that the virus protection software offered by Comcast to their customers doesn't work with 8.1. So we had to reset the computer back to factory settings, losing everything we had installed up to that point. Lots of fun.
Anyway, we did eventually get it set up to where she can use the applications that she had on her old PC - Quicken, Office, picture editing software, etc. And she does like the new laptop - her only complaint is that built-in mousepad doesn't have a physical "line" to seperate the mouse area from the buttons, so she freqently moves the mouse when she meant to left-or-right click on something.

Here's how to fix your problem
November 19, 2013
I feel your pain - Windows 8 is ridicululous for anyone who isn't fingerpainting on their tablet. When I had to purchase a machine recently, I went cheap and installed classic shell - this brought back Win7/XP interfaces. Cost - $0
A more complete solution would be to purchase Windows 7 OEM software and reload your machine. I'm happier when I do this since the garbage software from the PC manufacturer is no longer installed, and my machine runs best this way.
You want to make sure you can find Windows 7 drivers before you do this however, and you may want to enlist a tech savvy friend if you've not done a bare-metal install before.
Either way, good luck!

can i have an mp3 player installed on car stereo?

I bought a used 1997 pontiac grand prix. I want to be able to listen to my mp3 through the stereo. At first, I was just going install my stereo from my old car which has a mp3 adaptor. Now I think I just want to add it to the stock stereo in the car. is that possible??
You can do this with some Delco radios if you are willing to install a relay and a remote switch. I did this with my 2000 Grand Prix and it involved breaking in to the wiring between the CD circuit board and the main board. You use the relay to switch over to the aux input, and this is where you connect your MP3. This way you leave a CD in the player, and switch to CD when you want to hear your MP3.

You could instead try to break the circuit traces on your main board, but that's a little more involved. This method leaves the radio untouched, so you can always switch back to it without trying to find where you buried the switch for the relay :)

I found an excellent tutorial at www.bradgoldring.com which covers two types of Delco radios and includes lots of pictures. It's a very good walkthrough. Good luck!

Do I need a modem in the laptop?

I used to use the cable access to the local net and internet. Now I gonna buy a new laptop, but all of them have no modems (for example, Toshiba). Should I look for anything else?
Don't worry about having a modem - the question you need to ask yourself is: will you ever need to connect with dial-up? The answer is probably never. As long as you have wireless capability with the laptop, you can go to many local restaraunts, coffee shops, libraries and gas stations to find Wi-Fi and connect without trouble.

The last time I used my laptop modem was in 2003 (using local access numbers on a cross country trip). Since then, it hasn't been a factor. Just make sure you have wireless capability, and you'll be fine.

Is the HP Deskjet printer compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista?

It depends on the deskjet model you have. Check your specific printer on the HP website under Support, look for your printer model and see if there are drivers for it in Vista (or Vista 64-bit). If you can't find specific drivers for your printer (like me when I dumped Vista for Windows 7), then you can try the "universal print driver" and that may work for you - it worked for my laser (hp2605DN) including a display of how much toner was left in each color!

First laptop-what do i need to go wireless?

It came with an atheros ar5009 802. 11a/g/n wifi adapter. Do i need a usb mobile device?
No. You have wireless built in. I have found that Atheros adapters work really well, as a matter of fact! All you need is a router or an access point to connect to.

Router for streaming Netflix movies on Blu-Ray

My blu-ray is Netflix ready, but not wireless. I don't want to spend more for a router than I did for the blu-ray player, but I want to be able watch Netflix movies via the internet without losing any quality. What type of router should I buy?
Any router currently on the market will work - they will all include 10/100 ethernet ports (or faster). Your modem download speed will be less than the router will support, so the hard-wired router won't slow you down.

how do i have 2 computers on the same network

Buy a wireless router. Plug in your cable or DSL modem to the WAN port and plug your wired computers into the LAN ports. Then connect any wireless machines via the wireless LAN. Be sure to encrypt it!

Buy a wireless router, don't buy a wired router. If you do, you will soon wish you had the wireless capability.

My 2yr old Garmin 760 will charge only with USB cable not with AC adaptor or Auto charger. Whats wrong?

For auto charger: I would check your GPS cradle for bent or broken pins, can you check with a friend who has a similar unit?

On the AC adapter: it may have burned out.

You could purchase one of those USB chargers that plug into the wall and gives you 5v, I use that to charge my nuvi and my phones from the USB cords. Works great and you won't need the computer!

(note: if your USB cord works, you could try the rocketfish that gives you a car and a wall USB charger in the same package?)

Can you wire your GPS to the fuse box?

You might wire up an additional power socket (cigarette lighter socket) so you can plug it in. That's what I did, since my traffic receiver was built into my power plug. I also needed an outlet that turned off when the car did (otherwise my GPS stayed on all the time). So I wired it up.

If your power plug just has power, then sure, tear it apart and wire the harness into your radio circuit (ideally) so it will turn off when you turn the car off.

Good luck!
