This collection of hits by the Stones includes their first big hit in the USA, their cover of Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away". The big hits that followed in the mid 1960's are all there, showing not only their roots in rock, but also their true roots-"the Blues". If you are a Stones fan, don't miss this one, no matter what.
What's great about it: Terrific Collection of Early Hits
Denver's best work is highlighted in this live album. "Annie's Song", "I'm Sorry", "Country Roads",and "Rocky Mountain High" are highlights, but all 16 cuts make this performance a joy ever moment.
What's great about it: Great assortment of Best Hits performed live
For the talent assembled, this should be better ! Maybe it's the choice of songs. Who knows? OK for their fans ( AND I AM ONE), but this lacks luster and conviction .
What's great about it: Giants of the C/W scene
What's not so great: Excellent cast-Uninspired performances
This is a terrific live album, chocked full of the hits of 2 legendary artists/songwriters. To make it even more of a bargain, it contains excellent repartee between the two, with interesting stories about the origins of each song. Don't Miss Cash's "Unchained" and Nelson's "Crazy" And don't forget to pay attention to the terrific guitar work by both !
Cosby strikes again in thiis hilarious look back at childhood. "Chicken Heart ","Tonsils", and "Special Class" are musts for anyone who wants a good -and long- hard laugh.
An integal part of the British invasion, this album provides all the hits of the group and reflects another, mellower side of the '60s British "invasion. For hardcore fans, this is a buy that should be purchased if you want hear a different approach to the rock of that era, usually associated to the releases of the Beatles and Stones. No way you will be disappointed.
Pat Boone, local DFW TV afternnon host, scores big in this album. "Moody River" and "April Love" are highlights of this very good album. A " must have" collection for the fans of this "All-American" singer, who may be a little squeaky clean for fans of the early rock and roll era: but, everyone should enjoy this talented singer.
The Coasters' hits from the late 1950's are all present (they topped the R&B Charts with 7 of their releases, with 1 also topping the the Top 40 rock charts) reminding us just how great the early rock groups were -and how their influence endures. A bargain price is just one of the pluses.
