Everything about this album, from the artwork to the production is solid. I was pleasantly surprised with this. I liked Black Gives Way to Blue, but this is on a whole different level. We finally start to see Cantrell and DuVall show off their own respective vocal style rather than trying to emulate Layne or sing entire songs in harmony. There's not a single song on this record that I dislike. I like certain songs more than others, but I don't dislike any of them. I can't say the same for BGWtB, and I really can't say the same for one or two of the Layne-era albums, either. After playing through the album two or three times, I noticed I started to enjoy it more and more each time through. I'm on my 5th play-through. I'm proud of AIC. Really. I came into this expecting a good album, but likely wouldn't hold up to any comparison to their early albums or EPs. I was wrong. I'm blown away. Does it shine brightly above all other works? No. But it's very close to that level, in my opinion. That's my take on it.

What's great about it: Well-produced, Well-written, Well-played
I switch between finger picking and using a pick, but these are my new favorite picks. I like the tortex material, I like the durability of the material, and the sound I'm able to achieve with these picks. But there is one issue with these picks -- The Tortex logo on each pick smears and wears down, usually within the first 30 minutes of use. The logo disappears almost completely after a few hours of total play. But that's purely cosmetic. The other problem this issue causes, however -- It's a bit more annoying. The easily-smearable black ink can (and likely will) end up on your fingers and your guitar strings. I'm not dead set on using these picks due to that one inconvenience. I'll likely continue to try out other types of picks, but these are my favorite thus far.

What's not so great: Poor Durability of Printed Logo
These nickel-plated steel guitar strings feature extra core strength for durability and are compatible with most bass guitars with a 34" scale length for wide-ranging use.
I'm a D'Addario fan when it comes to bass guitar strings. But I bought these while they were on sale, and was pleasantly surprised. The tone is good. Matches that of its D'Addario brand counterpart. But I have some reservations about the durability. It's still a little early to say for sure, but it does seem they begin to lose their initial crisp clarity a bit faster than D'Addario brand strings. But the jury's still out. I can't say that for sure. All in all, it's worth trying them out. I certainly don't regret the purchase.

This Line 6 POD Studio UX1 99-073-0305 USB audio interface features multiple inputs and Ableton Live Lite 8-track software, so you can record your next guitar session with low noise and dynamic audio. The POD Farm 2 plug-in offers an array of effects.
The product was recommended by a friend. I first bought a Pod Studio GX. Then I upgraded to the UX1 within a year. I probably would've stuck with the GX a lot longer if the UX1 hadn't dropped so much in price. So besides the fact that it has XLR input, which the GX doesn't have, the price is my primary reason for buying the product. It does what it says. It does take a little time to get familiar with the product and its interface. But once you get the hang of it, you realize how simple it is. To model your own tones, to download new ones, to upgrade your firmware and drivers... Piece of cake. The only thing that I've noticed can be a bit buggy on 64-bit platforms has to do with the ToneDirect driver(used to adjust latency, sample rate, etc.). And I typically only run into problems with that if I'm adjusting latency or sample rate, which I don't often do. Making adjustments to the drive can occasionally cause the driver to crash. Other running programs could be to blame for the issue, but I've not experimented with the issue as I've only experienced it two or three times. The included software: Pod Farm, excellent. Ableton Live Lite, garbage. Use a real DAW. There was one other disc included, but as I recall it was just another useless piece of software. Overall, good product. There are better products out there, but you're going to pay for them. With the UX1, you do get a little more than you pay for. As long as you're not paying full retail. =]
What's great about it: Great bang for your buck... At least at its current price.
What's not so great: Can be occasionally buggy, limited cust. support
