Protect from Drops and Germs

OK so we have all had cases to help protect our phones from scratches and drops etc.
A cool new trend is not only protection from drops but AntiMicrobial Protection.
The Pure Clear has both, it can protect your phone from a 10ft drop AND helps keep your case germ free by reducing microbes by 99.99% which is fantastic. I for one dont wipe my case down enough and its something that is in your hands Off and on all day long, the Tech 21 Pure Clear gives peace of mind knowing germs are kept at bay.
Lastly, with a self healing surface, most micro scratches disappear in time which is pretty cool.

Great Stand Alone or addition to Sonos System

First off it must be known that I am a HUGE Sonos fan and have Sonos Speakers located throughout my house on every level (even the garage). One of the things you couldn’t do easily was take that great Sonos sound outside very easily. I would on occasion take my Play 5 and plug it in on my back deck but Id have to take it out of my office shelf, bring it outside plug it in etc, not the best solution but workable.
Enter the Sonance 2-Ch Outdoor System with Sonos Amp.
Set up is easy. I just added it to my speaker array contained in the Sonos App, if you don’t already have Sonos and this is your first foray into the Sonos eco system, then all you need to do is download the Sonos App from either Google Play or the Apple App Store. Log in or create a new account, Sonos has gotten very easy to set up with the app searching for your Wifi, Speakers, other components etc
The thing to understand about the Sonance 2-Ch Outdoor System is while the Sonos Amp is Wireless and operates with your app and Wifi, the Sonance Speakers are wired and wires must be run from where you have your speakers to the Sonos Amp.

The Sonos Amp can handle up to 2 sets of 8 Ohm Speakers wired in Parallel. Included is a nice set of Banana Plugs to help with connecting the Speakers to your Sonos Amp.
I wired the Sonance Outdoor Speakers to the Amp as well as two speakers in my living room, wired in parallel. The Outdoor Speakers have wires run from my living room (where the Amp is) to my back deck.
The Sonance Speakers are second to none as far as sound quality and design / construction. Included are the speakers and mounts to put them on a wall etc. The wires go through a rubber grommet in the back of the speaker and come out of the front of the speaker behind a panel, once the wires are fished through the back they are easy to connect then sealed from the weather by the panel on the front and the rubber grommet in the back, fantastic design to protect your wiring from the elements.
Once mounted and wired they just work and work well. (see the pics of my outdoor install and the Amp in my Living Room) The sound from the Sonance Outdoor Speakers is phenomenal and some of the best sounding outdoor speakers I have ever heard. The Amp also powers the speakers in my Living Room and the Sonos Amp handles both sets of speakers effortlessly and they both sound great. You can tailor make the sound to your taste with the Sonos App that has EQ Settings etc.
Once mounted and wired they just work and work well. (see the pics of my outdoor install and the Amp in my Living Room) The sound from the Sonance Outdoor Speakers is phenomenal and some of the best sounding outdoor speakers I have ever heard. Peace of mind for today’s connected life

As most people have multiple internet connected devices in their family, AVG Ultimate provides protection for up to 10 devices whether they be PC’s, Mac’s or Android devices. What’s interesting to me is the lack of iOS protection which i think speaks to the lack of a need for such protection on mobile Apple devices.
Installation is very easy with the typical internet download and entering of your product purchase key code.
You are able to tailor your install to features you deem important. Your choices include Antivirus and Anti-ransom ware (which most people will buy this for), VPN, Firewall and Webcam protection, password protection, computer file cleanup and tune up...among others.
Antivirus and Anti Ransom is the most important to me and regular updates (for one year) are included.
The VPN is important to me when using your devices on public networks and should always be used in those cases where you are away from home or work networks.
The webcam protection is something that folks are certainly looking for as there is a chance your computer cam can be remotely activated by hackers without your knowledge...just look at all the people you see with pieces of tape on their laptop cameras.
I haven’t come across any programs like this that are perfect and this one is no exception. Sometimes it makes you feel like you have a problem and try’s to sell you another feature or it prompts you to do something that perhaps will have wider range implications and will render programs not usable if you don’t watch out. Just be prudent in what you allow the program to make you change, delete etc
Overall AVG Ultimate is a program that does what it says it will do and needs the usual caveats when using programs like this as I mention above.

Solves an age old problem

Ok, I’m pretty much the person, along with my kids who does the baking etc in our household, and what happens more often than not when needing softened butter? I forget to take it out ahead of time and then have to deal with the lack of preparing ahead.
The Oster Heat Soft 5 Speed mixer, has the solution...don’t have softened butter? It will gently warm up the butter while mixing in order to save time. The rest of the operation is typical Oster which is to say it works great, is easy to keep clean etc
The Heat Soft Mixer is a bit on the noisy and heavy side but I think the weight is a trade off to having the softening feature which is worth it in my eyes (see above lack of preparation note).
Overall a great mixer with an interesting useful feature. 4 stars for the weight and noise but still recommend...why buy a regular mixer when you can get this one?

Professional coffee in your own home

With the popularity of K-cups we have gotten used to an ok cup of coffee, just not a great cup of coffee as the speed in which you can make it is worth the trade off for most people. With the Philips 3200 you can have a FANTASTIC cup of coffee, with fresh ground beans in almost the same time as it takes for you to make a K-cup coffee.
Not only that but you have five different drink settings, Espresso, Coffee, Americano, Cappuccino, Macchiato and Hot Water (for tea and hot chocolate) with the 3200.
The milk frother works great and gives professional frothy results every time.
Set up is fairly easy, Philips has a few videos on line that take you through the process. The most difficult part (and it’s not that difficult) is getting the water filter set up which is just submerging it in water to be sure there is no air in the system, you fill the reservoir with water and follow a couple of steps to have the 3200 finalize filter set up.
Then fill the hopper that holds an entire 12 ounce bag of coffee beans to feed the grinder and you are ready to go.
Choosing the right coffee beans is key as at first I used Dunkin Donuts beans but they ended up giving us weaker coffee than we would have liked, my wife and I are still experimenting on what beans we will settle on but it seems the best are on the stronger side.
The whole internal mechanism comes out for cleaning and the drip tray removes easily to clean and also dispose of the used coffee grinds.
Overall this is a very worthy addition to your kitchen and it will make you a barista in no time.

The G5020 takes care of making one of the biggest pains of owning a printer and that is having to constantly buy and change out the ink.
You can expect typical Canon printer quality on both black and white and color prints. And it does a good job printing on photo paper as well.
The sheet feeder holds 350 pages which is great capacity and lessens the number of times you need to replace paper.

The JaxJox Kettlebell Connect is a first class and high quality product right out of the box. Care was taken in the build and design of this unique product with a quality feel to the materials and build.
In the box you get the Kettlebell Shell, the base and a charging cable and adapter…yes this Kettlebell needs to be charged! Which is a good thing.
Assemble the Shell, Weights and base and then Plug the JaxJox Kettlebell Connect into your outlet and let it start charging, as its doing that, go to your appropriate App store (Google Play or Apple App Store) to download the JaxJox App.
Set up your account and enter all your info, weight etc You will then need to link the JaxJox Kettlebell Connect with the app and your phone via Bluetooth. The selectable weight range possible is 12-18-24-30-36-42 so whatever your needs and capabilities are there is a choice for you. It’s a simple matter of entering the weight value, waiting a few seconds and then lifting off the base and you have the weight you want.
The App helps with tracking your progress (Reps, Sets etc) and even integrates with Apple Health which is a great feature.
Overall a great piece of equipment to help get you in or keep you in good shape. The added electronic features make it all the more useful in your everyday workouts.

Magically clean while you sleep...

In the box is the Shark IQ Robot, and the base. The only real assembly required is attaching the Corner & Edge Brushes which will take you all of 30 seconds.
Setup of the Shark IQ Robot is a breeze. Find a spot in your house near an outlet and install the self empty base against the wall and plug it in. (you will need 3ft on each side of the base for it to be able to dock properly) On first setup you will need to place the Shark IQ Robot manually on the base for it to charge the battery.
Download the Shark App from either Google Play or the Apple App store and you will be ready to finish setup once its fully charged.
The ease of setup then continued with the app. Once the app is launched you create an account, link your robot with your household Wi-Fi signal and you can get to your first cleaning session.
The cool thing is, upon the Shark IQ Robot starting to clean it creates a complete internal map of your house as it methodically travels over every nook and cranny of your house. Once done, you are able to choose which rooms to clean from the app. You can also create schedules for the Shark IQ Robot so it cleans when you sleep for example which is what I did.
All the bells and whistles on the app and the robot itself are great but if it doesn’t clean well then you really have nothing.
I’m here to tell you the Shark IQ Robot has got great suction for a tiny unit and will help to keep your home in tip top shape.
The vacuum brushroll is self-cleaning and doesn’t get jammed up with hair etc which is a regular annoyance on many vacuums.
Another great and innovative feature is the Bagless, Self Empty Base. The way the base works is upon docking, the Shark IQ Robot empties itself…that’s right I said it empties itself…which is VERY cool.
The manufacturer claims the base will hold up to 30 day’s worth of dirt and debris, even if it does ½ that to me it’s a winner, so it definitely doesn’t need to be emptied that often which cuts down on maintenance.
If you are seeking the latest and greatest in automated home cleaning you cant go wrong with the Shark IQ Robot.

When I’m looking for a case for my iPhone it must do two things, 1 – must be thin…first and foremost and 2 – it must protect my phone from the reasonable perils of everyday use.
The Speck Presidio Pro does both, the phone fits well in the case and its not so thick that my phone won’t fit in vent holders in my cars etc.
The Presidio Pro has impact protection for up to a 10 foot drop (which I have not verified…I’ll take their word for it) and the other cool feature is Speck has included an Anti-microbial treatment that inhibits the growth of bacteria on the case…a feature I didn’t know I wanted but now that I have a case with it, I’m happy that I do.
Overall it’s a great slim case that gives great protection and fits nicely in your pocket as well

Fantastic sound…with Bass!

IEM’s (In ear monitors) are an obsession of mine, I have pairs from almost every manufacturer there is. They range in price form a couple of hundred to over $1,000 for custom IEM’s I have.
With that frame of reference, I’m a bit of a tough customer when it comes to fit, sound quality etc

Upon opening the box, the first thing I noticed was how the build quality was very high, you get the Minor II in the box as well as a micro USB to use for charging and the user manual.
They should be charged for 2 hours out of the box but if you want to get going quickly they will work for just about 2 hours of playtime with just 20 mins of charge time which is cool. On a full charge to do get 12 hours of playtime which is more than enough.

The Minor II’s paired easily to my iPhone and an interesting feature is the Multi-Directional Control Knob. Its just one knob (like a joystick) on the microphone and battery part of the earphones that controls everything you need to with just that one button.
Press for 3 secs to turn it on,push up to raise volume, down to lower volume, when getting a call press once to answer and twice to hang up etc so far Im liking this interesting twist on controls.
The ear fit system helps you adjust each earbud to each ear and they fit snugly and comfortably in my ears.

Now to the music…I was totally blown away by the soundstage, the mids and treble but most importantly the bass. Many IEM’s are lacking in the bass department but the Minor II’s are anything but minor when it comes to bass. Its not overwhelming, its just right and overall the sound is well balanced taking advantage of the 14.2mm Dynamic Drivers.
To pause your music just take the earbuds out of your ears and they attach to each other magnetically to pause the music and that helps for them to remain secure around your neck. Additionally they are somewhat noise canceling as they fit very snugly in your ear but not too much so to make you unaware of your surroundings.
The only (minor) complaint I have is when on a phone call the mic does transmit the ambient noise around you through the mic to your earphones, the callers didn’t complain about background noise to me and I do like some ambient to come through but it was just a tad too much of the ambient noise transfer coming through when on a call for my taste. Again, minor but worth noting.
Overall, if you are looking for great sounding set of wireless IEM’s with the latest Bluetooth codex and a long lasting battery that wont break the bank…you cant go wrong with the Marshall Minor II’s

Is there a way to download the software not by CD? My computer is an an ultrabook and doesn’t have a CD/DVD drive.
You can just add the printer in your printer settings via WiFi, I did not have to use the CD to load any drivers.

I want to use HUE lights with this. Can I buy a 2nd Google Home for my 2nd floor so both floors can access Home to turn off/on lights? If my phone (synced to Home) is out of the house, will voice activation still work for the lights?
This will work with Hue, you should be able to have multiple units in your house and they will work without the phone that is linked to them in the house.
