Great for parents or those without a credit/debit

These are great, you buy them up, load the code into the PSN, and poof you instantly have funds in your PSN wallet. This is a GREAT way for parents to allow their kids to purchase downloadable content from the PSN, without the kids going overboard. My neighbor just put in his CC info on the PS3 that they have for their kids, and when he got the CC bill for the over $300.00 in purchases that the kids had made, he had found the error of his ways. He has since removed the CC info from the PS3.
Of course the kids got themselves in a heap of trouble, but there was nothing more he could do. He later found the cards at our local Best Buy here in Anchorage, and bought up 5 of them. He put them in his kids Christmas stockings. Now he can control the amount of what they purchase, and the kids are learning more on the value of money (unlike our government at the moment.)

It's "ok," but not that great.

I bought this game so that my wife and I could have a game to play together. After 4 sessions playing it, my wife and I both got bored of it and traded it in. Yeah the graphics are good, game play is pretty easy, and powering up the ball and such is a nice bit of a change, but still gets boring fast.
Would be an excellent time waster while your waiting for either a download to finish, or while waiting for another game to come to the shelves.
What's great about it: Nice graphics

I received the 120GB edition for Christmas, and took it back and exchanged it for a specific 80Gb model. The 120GB model is NOT backwards compatible. Just as many of you have read, there are a LOT of myths and conjecture about the PS3 being backwards compatible. Here is a link to a web site that shows you WHICH ONES are BC. http://bombmatt.wordpress.com/2008/08/29/playstation-3-backwards-compatibility-demystified/
For those that STILL think that ALL of the PS3's do or do NOT play the older titles, here is the break down of them.
20GB Launch System - November 2006 (DISCONTINUED)
* PSOne and PS2 Backward Compatible (Hardware)
* NO SD/Memory Stick Slots
* NO Wireless Networking
* 4 USB Ports
60GB Launch System - November 2006 (DISCONTINUED)
* PSOne and PS2 Backward Compatible (Hardware)
* SD/Memory Stick Slots
* 802.11b/g Wireless Network Adapter
* 4 USB Ports
40GB - October 2007 (DISCONTINUED)
* PSOne Backward Compatible ONLY (Hardware)
* NO SD/Memory Stick Slots
* 802.11b/g Wireless Network Adapter
* 2 USB Ports
80GB Motorstorm/MGS Bundle - August 2007 (DISCONTINUED)
* PSOne Backward Compatible (Hardware)
* PS2 Backward Compatible (Software)
* SD/Memory Stick Slots
* 802.11b/g Wireless Network Adapter
* 4 USB Ports
80GB ‘CORE Pack’ - August 2008
* PSOne Backward Compatible ONLY (Hardware)
* NO SD/Memory Stick Slots
* 802.11b/g Wireless Network Adapter
* 2 USB Ports
160GB Uncharted Bundle - November 2008
* PSOne Backward Compatible ONLY (Hardware)
* NO SD/Memory Stick Slots
* 802.11b/g Wireless Network Adapter
* 2 USB Ports
This is also supported by visiting the Playstation network, and looking at compatibility.
OTHER THEN THAT, the PS3 is a GREAT gaming system, fantastic graphics, ease of play, being able to play blueray movies, or other DVD's 9NOT the HD that is out dated now,) With a good HD TV, HDMI cable, the PS3 WILL upconvert the regular DVD's, usually to 1080i @ 60Hz. If you have a 120Hz TV, then you will be even further amazed.
All in all, why pay about the same price for a stand alone BlueRay player, when you can get the PS3 and have it all in one.
What's great about it: Game system, Blueray movie player and MORE.
What's not so great: SOME of the systems are NOT backwards compatible.

I got my PS3 just so that I could play GH 3. After playing it through all the levels and replaying all the songs over and over again, I found the game to be boring.
The graphics are cheesy at best, reminds me of the Sunday cartoon page of the newspaper. Such as the singing character opens his big mouth and there is nothing inside but gray.
Yeah some of the songs are good, but most are not. the available DLC for the game is VERY VERY VERY limited. The controller to me was a big pain. the buttons stuck out too far, and made it difficult for me to do the hammer on and pull off's.
What's great about it: It's yet another of the Rythem types of games
What's not so great: Once you beat it, you only have the same songs to play again and AGAIN.

The graphics in the game are great. some of the best I have seen to date. however the game only has 1 option to play, and that is online. I didn't like that so I never bought it. I actually received it as a gift. I played it for about 2 weeks, and traded the whole thing in for a different game.
What's great about it: It's a flight fight sim.
What's not so great: Online play only.

I had the game for about 3 weeks, played it off and on. I beat the game on hard and never went back to it. I ended up selling it off. The glaive idea is great, you can control it, bounce it off of things, gather things with it, power it up or ice it down or set it ablaze.
The glaive reminds me of the OLD OLD movie KRULL. perhaps the only reason I bought it in the first place. After I beat it I traded it off for a different game. It just didn't have that replay ability that other games have.
What's great about it: GRAPHICS
What's not so great: it gets old FAST.

The game gets boring after a while, and you feel a sigh of relief once you've beaten it. I beat the game on hard in 4 days of play. After that I was done, I did not find it to be that fun.
After I beat it I went and sold it.

This is a great game, the second I have ever played of the Sid Meyers games. This is by far and above the best so far, and I am sure that there is more to come.
Goes from yawning easy to panic attack hard for levels.
They have released several free and pay upgrades to the game so far and I have them all. the game just keeps you in it.
What's great about it: A LOT of replayability
What's not so great: The pop up characters are annoying.

I have owned the original RB game since it was released. I LOVE IT. The second is even better. More songs, PLUS you can import all but 3 of the original songs from the RB 1 disk to be played in RB 2. The online play is MUCH better, the world tour is fantastic, however a little more thought in the game to make the songs change from venue to venue would have been better. You will find yourself often times playing the same songs over and over again in different venues. Especially on the random set lists. I am almost tired of Green Grass and High Tides.
Other then that the game is fantastic, A far cry BETTER then the Guitar Hero world tour game. As well as the option to buy the cymbal packs to add on to the RB 2 drum set is REALLY NICE. make game play a little more "real."
What's great about it: TONS of new songs
What's not so great: the calibration set is a bit odd.

Ok, I got sick and tired of having to use up 2 of my 4 usb ports on my 80Gig PS3, as well as I got tired of the cords. They constantly kept getting in the way of other things. As well as my 2 cats thought that when the cords hung down that they would be great toys. As well as I have a 2 year old son, and any chance to grab anything in his reach he would.
I purchased this on a more or less whim. It looked good in the packaging. When I got it home and placed it on my cabinet, it looked great sitting near my PS3.
Unlike the comments that were said about the LED's going out, I have yet to have that problem. The lights change from Red (charging) to Green (charged.) They do take a bit to get used to for plugging in the controllers, especially since I have the color change controller covers I have on my 2 controllers, but even with them on the controllers still slip in nice and easy and snug.
The base has 2 extra ports on it to allow you to plug in 2 wires to charge up 2 extra controllers. The base sits firmly on the cabinet, does not tip over unless it is given force. It looks stylish, and functions well.
Even if you DO get the LED's going out problem, leaving the controllers plugged in for at least 30 minutes will give you quite a while longer of play if needed.
The price is a little high for a charging station, but then again it is worth it, at least it was for me.
What's great about it: It functions well, it looks great on the cabinet.
What's not so great: Nothing.
