Great movie, modern day musical evolves!

This is a perfect example of a modern day musical. It is a great story and easy to follow. Fun to watch and very creative. If you want to understand it a little more, watch the more guy, more girl trailer in the special features. It gives you a better understanding of the movie's flow. Wonderful piece of artistry and the music is just great to listen to. I'm getting the soundtrack, because there are some good feeling tracks to listen to. Worth watching a couple times. Excellent date movie too.
What's great about it: The actors are every day people, the story line is easy to follow
What's not so great: hard to understand their voices sometimes, filming could be better

Classic Disney animation meets contemporary urban chaos when a frightened princess is banished from her magical animated homeland to modern-day New York City in a romantic comedy penned by Bill Kelly (Blast from the Past), directed by Kevin Lima (Tarzan), and featuring music by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz. Princess Giselle (Amy Adams) lives in the blissful cartoon world of Andalasia, where magical beings frolic freely and musical interludes punctuate every interaction. Though Princess Giselle is currently engaged to be married to the handsome Prince Edward (James Marsden), her fate takes a turn for the worse when the villainous Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) banishes her to the unforgiving metropolis of New York City. As the cruelty of the big city soon begins to wear down the fairy-tale exterior of the once-carefree princess, the frightened Giselle soon finds herself falling for a friendly but flawed divorce lawyer (Patrick Dempsey) whose kind compassion helps her to survive in this strange and dangerous new world.

Great adaptation of fairy tale in today's age...

This is one tremendous movie for young girls. It has a great story line, great actors/actresses, a beautiful fairy tale ending and encourages girls to be more active in their lives. It makes a strong case for a classic movie, mainly from the standpoint of integrating fairy tale lore with today's modern era. Just a well written and produced movie that is great for all ages. Watch it again and again!
What's great about it: The theme to empower women, the storyline
What's not so great: needs a sequel

A tale of friendship between a horse and a boy, Touching Wild Horses arrives on DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original aspect ratio of 1.85:1. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include interviews with director Eleanore Lindo and screenwriter Murray McRae, and a behind-the-scene featurette.

Just a very well done movie for young folks about being motivated to do their best and helping others. The horses add a great fondness to the movie. Well worth watching as a family movie or just one-on-one with your child to help work through tough times.
What's great about it: good actors, nice storyline, a good feeling movie
What's not so great: some of the meanness

Really good film for kids

Great movie for young kids, especially girls, to show them that if you believe in yourself and your friends, you can do anything you want to. The actresses are great in their roles. The ending is really fun. Worth seeing a couple times, especially for my girls!
What's great about it: great storyline to encourage kids to stand up for what they believe
What's not so great: that mean girl is really mean

Formulaic at best, Two Weeks Notice is not much of a film, but Warner has produced a fine DVD. The 1.85:1 anamorphic image is typically wonderful. A full-frame version is also available, which seems to be the norm for the studio. Colors are vibrant and depth of field is perfectly realized. In addition, skin tones are transferred realistically. The sounds, a 5.1 Dolby Digital track, is certainly adequate for this light romantic comedy, which means that not much is really offered. Surrounds are basically nonexistent, but that isn't too much of a surprise. On the plus side, dialogue is clear throughout. Though hardly extensive, there is a decent array of supplements. The 12-minute featurette is nothing more than a studio fluff piece as the Sandra Bullock, Hugh Grant, and writer/director Marc Lawrence gush over working with each other. Far more interesting is an audio commentary from the same three. It's light-hearted and pleasant to listen to, and simply proves that these three had a wonderful time working together. In addition are two deleted scenes, one that could have been left in, and the other, really more an alternate ending, that truly doesn't add anything to the film. Also included is "Two Bleeps Notice," a feature where bloopers can be accesses when a heart icon appears onscreen. While they are generally amusing, it was a mistake that they can't be watched separate from the film. Finally, along with the standard filmographies is the theatrical trailer for this film.

Great date-night movie, lots of laughs, good story

A really good date movie. There are lots of discussion points in the movie, especially the stapler. Sandra Bullock is very beautiful in this movie and plays a down to earth lawyer. Bullock and Grant create a really good relationship and both excel at their roles. Very enjoyable and lots of laughs, especially when she has too many chili dogs. The ending is really good too. Well worth watching several times.
What's great about it: Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant are great in their roles
What's not so great: ignorant rich people and their lack of common sense

An exemplary achievement as a film, and an equally exemplary achievement as a DVD. Ostensibly New Line's first Infinifilm disc (Little Nicky was, in fact, the first, with an Infinifilm version hidden as an easter egg), the DVD contains a selection of fairly normal features plus new features that utilize branching technology. The transfer is excellent. The film has been mastered anamorphically at an aspect ratio of 1.85:1. Colors are strong and accurate throughout (and the disc includes color bars to assist with setup) with deep blacks and good shadow detail. Fleshtones are accurate throughout. The image is sharp and clear, with no artifacts or softness. The Dolby 5.1 audio track has an excellent mix, with subtle use of atmospheric and ambient surround. The bass, when called up, is tight and clear and does not thump or rattle. Straightforward directional effects are few and far between in the mix, simply because they're not often called for. The ambient effects, however, more than make up for this, with each set given its own atmosphere. The Infinifilm feature places a broad semi-transparent blue bar at the bottom of the screen from time to time. Each time it appears, it offers one or more choices; by making a selection, the viewer is sent along a branching path to a snippet of information: filmographies, background information, clips from one of the two documentaries, and so forth. This certainly functions to broaden the experience of watching a film such as Thirteen Days, though not every movie would seem to call for this approach. Not content with offering this aspect, New Line has provided both a filmmaker's commentary track (executed as a roundtable with Kevin Costner, Roger Donaldson, David Self, and others), a historical figures commentary track compiled from a variety of recordings, a historical background commentary presented in subtitles, historical figure biographies, and cast and crew biographies. Additionally, there are two documentaries, "The Roots of the Cuban Missile Crisis" and "Bringing History to the Silver Screen," along with a brief visual effects piece, a number of deleted scenes with director commentary, and the theatrical trailer. This is certainly a DVD worth owning, considering the wealth of material included; the extra materials are fascinating, and will take time to digest.

Excellent historical movie

Is a really good historical film. As with any movie it may or may not have happened the way it was filmed, but you can see why a lot of people would have had it out for the President. In times of crisis it is really hard to make the right decision or the popular decision. I don't know how they slept at night, but our leaders did a great job of defending our country. Well worth seeing a couple times.
What's great about it: Great acting, showed all sides to story
What's not so great: could have developed some supporting roles better

My family loved this film. We watched it a couple times. The story is a wonderful idea brought to life. We didn't care for some of the language, but all in all it was a good family movie. Enjoyed the relationships between the family members and Harry. Worth watching a couple times.
What's great about it: Nice family, good story line and a great ending
What's not so great: The military sequence in downtown Seattle, some of the language

Totally fun movie that really is worth watching again and again. The characters are hilarious especially when they escape. The penguins are really cool too. The storyline is really good and the island looks awesome. Definitely recommended by me and my kids!
What's great about it: The characters and the storyline, not too far fetched
What's not so great: lack of common sense sometimes, but that helps with the laughs

Best Album ever!

What is and was the best album ever! So many classics in this album. By far my favorite 11 songs of all-time. Got to meet Adam at a concert tour for this album and still have the signed ticket. Was the best acoustical event I have ever been to. The band is so down to earth and just some everyday regular guys. So much depth and variety in these songs, they truly speak from the heart. An album of pure genius! You can not go wrong with the Counting Crows!
What's great about it: Adam and company top the charts with this one, A Classic!
What's not so great: are there any?

Incredible movie, awesome acting, great story!

Just a well thought out picture about Howard Hughes' younger years. He was an amazing man with great insight into the future and a desire to improve aviation. The supporting actors/actresses do an unbelievable job. Alan Alda did a really great job as a politician. Its too bad Hughes didn't take better care of himself. Worth watching several times, if you have the time. It is a long one, but it helps to develop the completeness of the story. The ending is very good as well.
What's great about it: The actors are amazing in their roles, and the story of Howard Hughes is really cool
What's not so great: How come it seems that every person with great ideas, has some mental problem?
