A pair of misfit siblings travel across time and space to save their father from enslavement in this made-for-TV adaptation of the classic children's novel by Madeleine L'Engle. Meg Murry (Katie Stuart), a tomboy who fits in with neither the kids nor the teachers at her New England middle school, feels bereft when her scientist father vanishes, leading to unsavory speculation from small-town gossips. But thanks to Charles Wallace (David Dorfman), her gifted but idiosyncratic younger brother, Meg befriends Mrs. Who (Alison Elliott), Mrs. Whatsit (Alfre Woodard), and Mrs. Which (Kate Nelligan) -- three cosmic beings who lead Meg, Charles Wallace, and their friend Calvin O'Keefe (Gregory Smith) on a journey to the sinister planet Camazotz, where Dr. Murry (Chris Potter) has been captured by the coercive power known as IT. Afflicted by hubris and naïveté, young Charles Wallace falls under IT's thrall, forcing Meg, Calvin, and their allies on a dangerous flight across time and space. But thanks to the healing touch of a kindly monster known as Aunt Beast (Ellen Dubin), Meg is able to face her own insecurities and attempt a final rescue of her loved ones. Originally broadcast May 10, 2004, on ABC, A Wrinkle in Time was released as an installment of the long-running Wonderful World of Disney.

Really great family film that encourages kids to be strong and love their family. We watched it several times and everyone loved it. Just a great job of the special effects, especially with the transitioning through worlds. Well worth buying and having in your collection.
What's great about it: The whole thing, the effects, the relationships
What's not so great: the bad guys are scary!

Completely out of the ordinary, very different

Not your run of the mill romance movie. My wife and I watched it as part of our date night and it was certainly different. There were many funny parts, but also many uncomfortable parts as an American. It was interesting to learn of French culture, and I think the ending was very good, but definitely confusing. I had to watch the ending twice to figure it out. For the most part though, for young couples, or those that have just started dating, this is probably a really good movie to see. It really helps relationships to make it in the long run if everyone is honest and puts everything, including their pasts, out there. Couples need to know about each other if they are to make it through the tough times. So definitely a must see for new couples and newlyweds!
What's great about it: good actors, funny storyline, different look at french culture
What's not so great: french culture

Classic Muppets! You gotta see it.

Very creative movie about the Muppets. From the swamp log banjo to the big screen, this movie has it all. It is great for kids, as mine loved it and we watched it a couple times. Lots of laughs, celebrities, and many funny places along the way. Just an all around fun movie to watch with the kids!
What's great about it: the muppets, the settings, the giant frog legs, the stars
What's not so great: sometimes it is drawn out, but easy for kids to get

Wonderful adaptation for the kids!

This is a really good adaptation of the Dickens' tale, especially for kids. Sometimes it looks scary for little ones, but it ends up being funny. I would recommend this over the real tale to get kids involved. My kids have a better understanding that it is a giving holiday! As we watched it the second time, we talked about how Scrooge was changed and it is so much better to be happy and giving than to be a 'scrooge'. Some really great extras on the DVD, such as where they go through each part of the movie telling about the tricks they used. Michael Caine did an excellent job. A worthy holiday family movie!
What's great about it: not too scary for little ones, lots of good extras
What's not so great: some of the goofy muppets

Fun movie, brings back high school memories

Just a real fun movie about high school. Very creative story. The actors were really good in their roles. Wished they would have developed some characters more. Shows how a lot of society deals with today's issues. Worth watching with the teenager in your family or your life.
What's great about it: great cast, nice storyline, exciting ending, fun all around
What's not so great: could have gotten to know characters better

A funny movie, but takes a while to develop

I had heard about this from friends and was very excited to see it, but it really lacked as far as keeping me interested in the beginning. Maybe for older folks this movie was funny, but not so much for me. If there were some better actors in the key roles, this would have probably done better. But the drugs, old people, and death didn't really make for a good mix with this cast. The storyline overall was funny, but needed better actors. Probably worth watching if you like british comedies, but if you don't, find something else.
What's great about it: good cinematography, funny story line
What's not so great: not so good actors, some hard to understand, not very convincing

Wonderful family movie, rural living in animation

This is just a wonderful movie, especially if you're a NASCAR fan. It has all the comparisons to real life racing. It also has some good life lessons about getting away from it all. And tucked into this animated masterpiece is a lesson about being a normal person and not being such a big shot. Life always has opportunities to help others, it is just a matter of deciding when to help and when to be a big shot. Good life lessons for kids. Our family has watched it again and again. Great animation!
What's great about it: great comparison about rural living and getting away
What's not so great: not much

Hilarious movie. Definitely a guy flick!

Currently my favorite movie. It totally rocks. I love all of the actors and actresses in this movie. Luke Wilson is perfect for this role. He is just great in this role. G-girl is way cool for a superhero. I think the whole process of Wilson recovering her purse is so real life. Anna Faris is by far an amazing actress. She plays the damsel in distress so well in this movie. She is so beautiful and witty. I love her as an actress. The bad guy, Barry, is really great. He is just a perfect not-so-bad villain, and he does great at the end. It was definitely a great twist at the end. Whenever I need a pick-me-up, I watch this movie. The whole movie just makes me laugh as the characters just treat a superhero like a normal person, and when new people find out it is hilarious. I recommend this to guys, because you are going to get some great laughs out of it! It is so funny! Buy it today, and watch it for a good laugh! I really hope there is a sequel!
What's great about it: The actors, the story line, the ending, the whole thing
What's not so great: the weird friend guy, he's strange

Columbia TriStar brings Maid in Manhattan to DVD. The picture, presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, is a clean transfer full of sharp colors and rich tones. The English 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound is also quite impressive, as to be expected with a 21st century DVD. The entire film is also presented in full-screen format. A collection of trailers for other Columbia TriStar films is the biggest extra on the disc. Rounding out the features are scene selections and an animated menu. As successful as the film was, one might have expected a few more extras on this disc.

Pretty good romance movie. Good acting. Fun ending

Could have been a Disney flick, but chose different actors. The senator just didn't seem to be much of a love interest. Lopez did her best, and she's a good musician. Worth watching once just for a good story line and for a nice date movie. Not sure it's worth owning though. I thought the wedding planner was much better with Lopez.
What's great about it: Good acting, the kid really makes it finish well
What's not so great: Some of the supporting actors

Very good movie about a small part of winning WWII
on November 3, 2008

Very good movie about a small key to the outcome of World War 2. The code was critical to our success, just as the lives were of the many men and women that fought for us. May the Lord be with them and their families and thank them for their dedicated service. Like the many men and women in the Middle East who fight for our freedoms today. Well worth watching to have an understanding of something so small that can help American soldiers. Great actors, great story line. Very nice ending.
What's great about it: great acting, showing how great leaders inspire others
What's not so great: how many people got shot up
I would recommend this to a friend!
