Funniest Movie I've Seen In Quite A While

A mockumentary in the style of Spinal Tap, brought to you from the guys who wrote the Flight of the Conchords show (minus Bret). You can easily see this connection from beginning to end. Though I'd recommend it to everyone, this is especially a must-watch for you FotC fans. ♥

Reviewing movies is a tricky thing for me, as I don't like to go into the plot in order to avoid posting any spoilers. I saw the trailer for this and it looked very interesting, prompting a somewhat blind-buy which did not disappoint. It exceeded what I was expecting based on the lone trailer that I watched. It's difficult to pinpoint an exact audience for this film, though if I had to choose one popular filmmaker to give you a bit of an idea of what to expect, I'd say Tarantino is the best comparison. It's definitely a must-own for me as a Blu-ray collector. Enjoy! ♥

I'm a fan of Troma. I know what to expect, what with the poor acting and plotlines (for the most part). There's just something that draws me and many others to Troma films. It's not just the comedy. There's a certain charm to them. This, however, just doesn't cut it. The decent parts are few and far between, with the rest being boring and almost unwatchable. I actually watched this film in 1.5x, so I could still finish it, but more quickly. I know it's tempting. But please, pass this one up, unless it drops to the $5 and under range. I still wouldn't recommend it at that price, but I'm sure many will be set on watching it anyway. So to those who won't rely on this review, please do yourselves a favor and pay as little as possible when purchasing it. Sorry, Troma.

I never got the chance to see Braid before they disbanded in 2004. They were yet another band I had accepted that I'd never get a chance to see. Then excitement like none other when they decided to reunite for a tour in 2013 (they are amazing live, by the way). To further that excitement, they announced that they wouldn't only be touring again, but that they had been working on new material. They first released an EP, which was a very solid EP. But it just left Braid fans wanting more. And more they delivered. It's always difficult for me to rank a band's albums from least favorite to favorite. All of Braid's albums are fantastic. So I won't say that this is their best work. But it's certainly up to par with anything that they've ever done in the past. So, Braid, welcome back!

I'll preface this by saying that The Blue Album is incredible. That aside, Pinkerton is the album that most Weezer fans will always hold nearest to their hearts. Pinkerton stirs up so many emotions that just aren't present on their other albums. It is also, musically, is far from anything they have ever done (other than Songs From The Black Hole, which we're all still waiting on, Rivers!). The album is perfection from start to finish. The tragedy is that it received so many negative reviews, that I believe Rivers went back into his shell and left us with what Weezer has now become. Unlike many, I still find them to be a very good band. But if you want to know what Weezer is fully capable of, listen to Pinkerton.
