Awesome Soundtrack
on October 11, 2007

I love this soundtrack. I usually do not purchase soundtracks because in most cases, a soundtrack will only have one or two songs that I want. This soundtrack is full of songs from Kill Bill vol. 1 that I enjoy listening to. The CD literally starts off with a bang (Bang Bang by Nancy Sinatra). My favorites are Battle Without Honor Or Humanity (the song from the trailer) and The Lonely Shepherd by Zamfir (that's right, the guy that plays the Pan flute!). The soundtrack also includes soundbytes from the movie, which can be annoying to listen to when you have the CD playing in the background of whatever you are doing, but they are nevertheless fun to have in your possession.
What's great about it: Good songs from the hit movie
What's not so great: annoying soundbytes

Another great season

In this exciting season of DBZ, the heroes of Earth go to the planet Namek to obtain a new set of dragonballs so that they can wish their friends back to life. Unfortunately, the Earthlings are not the only ones in the pursuit. Vegeta recuperates and tries to collect the balls as well as Frieza, the horrible space tyrant. This is probably the most exciting and dramatic season of DBZ because there is a new development every show that is essential to what is going on in the story. I love the layout of the DVD's in the case, because it's not always easy to package 6 discs in one bundle so conveniently. There are no drawbacks to this season whatsoever.
What's great about it: great season and cool layout

The Start of a dynasty

Welcome to the exciting and groundbreaking world of Dragon Ball Z! This is the first season of the show that picks up where it's predecessor (Dragonball) left off. The show revolves around a collection of Earth's strongest fighters as they unite together to battle the incoming Saiyans (Raditz, Nappa, and Vegeta). If this is your first experience with any of the Dragonball sagas, then you will find yourself sucked into the mythology of this season. This is the best japanese animation show ever made in my opinion, and the first season is the best place if you want to pick it up and start watching. Once you tune out Gohan's incessant and annoying whining, you will be forever hooked on the show.
What's great about it: Greatest anime series
What's not so great: One of the characters cries too much!

Best DBZ season

This is my favorite season of Dragonball Z because it is non-stop action. The battle on planet Namek continues in this season, the entire season focused around the fight against Frieza. It doesn't get any better than this. All of the episodes look clearer and crisper than ever thanks to the DVD transfer. As with the other seasons of Dragonball Z already on the market, the episodes come commercial free with the original japanese theme songs. Personally I prefer the American guitar rendition so hopefully Funimation will at least include the American theme song in their special features the next season they put out.
What's great about it: great remastered content
What's not so great: no american music

Seinfeld co-creator Larry David's hit HBO comedy series finds its way to DVD courtesy of HBO Video. Presented in its original 1.33:1 full-frame aspect ratio, the image sports even colors and skin tones with solid blacks and no obvious edge enhancement. Audio is offered in both English and French Dolby Digital Stereo and rings through with solid clarity. In addition to innovative packaging, the menu design of the set makes for both intuitive navigation and some interesting features. In addition to getting a quick summary of each episode, viewers also have the opportunity to preview each episode on the menu screen -- a minor feature, but also an innovative one that certainly makes sense. Though the disc isn't exactly brimming with extra features, the ones that are offered are both informative and entertaining. Commentary is only provided for the first episode, entitled "The Pants Tent"; it features Robert Weide, Jeff Garlin, Larry David, and Cheryl Hines, who offer an interesting look at the relationships behind the scenes while explaining the benefits of the series' handheld aesthetic and praising their ability to "phone act." Slightly more revealing is a 30-minute Bob Costas interview with David. As the two men discuss the motivations behind the original one-hour special, Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm (also included in its entirety), the improvisational method that has become the staple of the series, inspiration, and music, viewers are offered a rare look at the Larry David behind the hapless curmudgeon of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Funny enough to buy

The first season of Curb Your Enthusiasm is funny in that we get a first look at the genius behind "Seinfeld". We are conditioned very early on in this season how things work out. Larry continuously finds himself in impossible and awkward situations that make us as an audience feel for him. His wife Cheryl and manager Jeff are always scolding him for his seeming lack of manners, but those perceptions may be do to Larry being a victim of bad circumstances. You'll find yourself watching and taking the side of Lary David, a people's champion.

Funniest episodes in TV history

This second season of Curb Your Enthusiasm is the one that did it for me; the season that made me decide that I would henceforth have to buy every season that came out. This season has the funniest episodes per capita. I've watched the whole season 5 or 6 times, and watching the episodes "Thor" and "The Doll" still make me laugh uncontrollably. I think that "Trick or Treat" is the funniest episode of any series in the history of television. Any one would love this as an addition to their DVD collection.

This box set contains every episode from the third season of Larry David's award-winning HBO comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm. Each episode is presented in the original broadcast aspect ratio of 1.33:1. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. Supplemental materials include a discussion with the cast and crew of the show that was held as the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. Those attuned to David's particular brand of humor will enjoy this solid presentation of Curb Your Enthusiasm's third season.

Hilarious!

This is a very good season with many cameos by other celebrities. Look for Ted Dansen and Richard Lewis returning to play themselves as Larry's friend, and also an episode with SNL's Sheri Oteri as a demented nanny who has been warped by Looney Tunes. This season isn't the funniest in the series, but it is definitely worth ownership. This season helps to prove the Larry David (creator of the series and co-creator of Seinfeld) is the undisbuted master of situational comedy.

Best season of this show!

As a whole, this is the best season of "Curb" for sale. Following the theme of Larry trying to both have a successful debut on Broadway and claim his 10th anniversary present his wife promised him before they got married: if they made it ten years, Larry has the right to sleep with someone else, guilt-free. This season is just so much more cohesive than the others. I always want to watch all 10 episodes in a row, because it goes together like a long movie. A great starter season if you are looking to get hooked on "Curb"

Funny stuff

This is the fifth installment to Larry David's hit HBO comedy series. If you liked Seinfeld, you'll love this show because it takes that same situational comedy to the extreme. Although I would have to say that this is the least funniest of seasons of the show so far, it is still a must have. Even the least funny episode will have you laughing until your stomach hurts.
As far as the product's format goes, I love the way that the DVD is packaged. It has two sliding tabs that you pull on and the discs will magically be revealed. The menus on the DVD are also very user friendly.

Run Lola Run was a smash among the arthouse, postmodern crowd during its theatrical run. Its mix of fun scenarios, what ifs, and fast-paced, cut-and-paste visuals is a joy to behold both on the big screen and on this DVD. The digital transfer accurately portrays the humorous escapades of the title character with no visual or aural kinks. Music and sound effects are spot-on, and the film's bold colors mightily impress. All 28 chapters can be selected from the "Scene Selections" menu (displayed with captions and still images), and director Tom Tykwer and actress Franka Potente (Lola) provide a consistently enlightening and fun, film-long commentary. The theatrical trailer is included, as well as trailers for The Dreamlife of Angels and Orlando (all from Sony Pictures Classics). The music video is a stylish compendium of footage from the film and new, glossy scenes of actress Potente acting slinky, set to a song from the film (the director also scored the film, and Potente provides vocals). "Talent Files" give the usual short bios/selected filmographies, on Tykwer and stars Potente and Bleibtreu (Lola's boyfriend). Those viewers weary of subtitles can choose the lesser option of watching the DVD with English dubbing.

Best German Film Ever!
on September 17, 2007

This movie is awesome! Not only would I say that this is the best German language film, but I would even go so far as to say that this is the best foreign film, period. Director Tom Tykwer was a pioneer at this time. He (along with Quentin Tarantino) helped make shooting segments out of sequence in many different ways a popular part of cinema today. Watch this movie, and you will want to change your profession to movie director. Franka Potente (Blow, Bourne Identity) delivers a stellar performance. The techno soundtrack was also a revolutionary addition that I approve of. Great movie!
