When it comes to gaming performance, the slightest disadvantage can be the difference between winning and losing a match. With a 165Hz refresh rate, lightning fast 1ms (GTG) response time and full adaptive G-Sync compatability and FreeSync Premium support, you can be sure that the Odyssey G50A won’t let you down on the battlefield.

Great picture. Dim HDR. No USB ports or speakers.
on May 12, 2022
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
-Smooth high frame rate (HDMI 144 and Display 165)
-Quick response time
-Colors are vivid
Con:
-No speakers
-Dim HDR
-No useable USB ports
-One display and HDMI
Overall this is a great monitor with great colors and performance, but it is missing some features when comparing it to other monitors in the same tier. Starting with the build, it has very thin minimal bezels except for the bottom bezel that has protrusions seemingly for speakers, but there are no speakers with this model. It has three quick profile buttons and a joystick nub for the menu. On the back there’s one display port, one HDMI 2.1 port, and an audio out. It’s disappointing that there’s no speakers, only one HDMI, and no usable USB port (there’s one for update). Other monitors in this price range usually have one or all of those. The stand is wide and takes up a bit more space. It can rise up to 9 inch from the bottom, turn 90 degrees clockwise and have a wide side rotation range. The cable management is bare with only a loose strap at the bottom. I would have preferred it to have a way to route the cable through the stand.
Picture quality is great. Even though the sRGB isn’t as accurate, the colors are vivid and bright, maybe a bit too saturated, but you won’t notice it while gaming or watching movies. I prefer the default but there’s also presets for FPS, moba, cinema, etc, or you can adjust just about all the settings. Some settings like the wide screen mode and low input mode won’t work while adaptive sync is on. It has good viewing angles, with the color starting to shift around 45 degrees in any direction. Framerate is smooth at 165Hz and no noticeable ghosting. HDR is unfortunately not that bright, making HDR barely noticeable. It looks more like the brightness is cranked up. It’s a common issue with most HDR monitors so don’t expect a TV-like HDR experience. It also pairs well with consoles. The Xbox Series X supports 1440p and even if the PS5 doesn’t, it still looks good.

Better improvements. Mixed comfort
on May 12, 2022
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
-Quiet Clicks
-Smart Scroll
-Good button placements
-Both usb and bluetooth
Con:
-Not rechargeable battery (1AA battery)
-Slippery grip
-Options+ app still in beta
-Not compatible with older Unifying receiver
This is a smaller version of the MX Vertical mouse (which I liked), with some nice improvements. It has the same angle but shorter making it a better fit for smaller hands. It still has the same features like being able to use either the USB receiver or bluetooth, and the three quick profile switching. It now has the smart scrolling wheel, which was one of the best parts of the MX series. It doesn’t have the same ratchet feeling and doesn’t spin as freely, but it still works as well. The side buttons are now placed right by the thumb and are much easier to reach. The button clicks are completely silent but to me it felt a little too mushy. The bottom is magnetic and has a slot to store the receiver.
The negative is that only the back half has the textured rubber while the front is slick, making it difficult to lift it up. It doesn’t have a rechargeable battery but rather uses a AA battery which they claim can last up to 2 years. Also note that this uses the Bolt usb receiver and is not compatible with the older Unifying receivers.
As of this writing, the Logi Options+ app (a newer version of Options) is still in beta. Right now it only supports the current line of Logi products, but older ones show up though grayed out. So for now if you own other Logitech keyboards or mice, like the Craft or MX mouse, you’ll have to install both Options and Options+. Within the app, you can reassign shortcuts or keypress to the buttons.
Ergonomics is going to depend on each person. For me it’s mixed. The improvements with the wheel and better button placement makes it more comfortable to use but, the shorter height (with the base closer to the table surface) puts more pressure on my wrist. The bottom of my hand rests on my table and after using it for a bit, I started to have cramps in my wrist. It may be the initial period and I’m not used to it yet, but I didn’t have this with the MX Vertical.

Power washer for your gums. Brush also good.
on April 27, 2022
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
-Powerful spray
-3 different nozzles
-Toothbrush syncs with app
Con:
-Cumbersome and messy
-The pump rattles
-Tank empties quickly
The water flosser is like a mini power washer for your gums. Even at low settings it’s powerful enough to clean off the plaque and at higher settings it can get food particles out. It’s also good for power cleaning your sink. It’s recommended that you start at the lowest level and work your way up, and in the week that I’ve had it, I’m still on level 4. At higher levels it starts to feel uncomfortable on my gums. It has a max of 10 levels and 4 settings for Clean, Deep Clean, Sensitive, and Massage. Some of the settings will pulse as it sprays, but I generally stick with Clean. Even though it’s strong, I still use floss afterwards. Either I miss some spots or the spray isn’t hitting the tight spaces between some teeth.
The handle has a button to turn on the spray, but it also has a magnetic clip that will automatically turn off the spray. The tube is coiled and is self stored in the base so it’s kept tidy and neat. There’s three nozzles included. The standard one sprays one stream, the comfort one sprays two streams to the side, and the last is a four way stream for quicker coverage.
While it’s good, it’s not without some drawbacks. It is somewhat cumbersome and gets a bit messy. It’s spraying a lot of water in your mouth and it’ll splash a lot. The tube is short so the pump has to be placed right next to the sink, which can take up room. The tank can drain quickly and if you’re not used to it, you’ll probably have to refill it. Lastly it will rattle while in use and can be somewhat loud.
The brush is good. It may not be the highest end model, but it has what you need with three settings and three levels. It fits with all the models of brush heads and each brush head has a chip that will select the best mode. I tried two types but both just selected Clean. The brush also has a feature that will stop and vibrate the head if you’re applying too much pressure.
The brush also can sync up with the Sonicare app that will keep track of your brushing habits and history and offer tips. It’s a nice feature to have, though I didn’t use it much. It also tells you when to replace the brush head.
This seems like a good investment for oral care. It’ll take some getting used to and it’s not that convenient to use but both the flosser and brush does seem like it’s doing a good job at cleaning. It’s hard to tell how well it’ll work long term, but from what I’ve seen it’s powerful enough to really power clean your gums.

Great build, but too small for my palm grip
on February 7, 2022
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
-Great solid construction
-Weight tunable
-Bluetooth and wireless
-Tilt gestures
Con:
-Shorter grip
-Clicks are a bit soft
This mouse is well built and has a good heavy heft to it, even without the added weights. The aluminum build feels solid and doesn’t have any creaking or hollowness to it at all. I prefer heavier mice for most of the games and even work, so I really liked how this mouse feels. However, for my palm grip, it’s too short to grip on comfortably. The mouse is about an inch shorter than my other gaming mice. I have slender hands and even so, most of my palm is not touching the mouse and it’s slowly shifting further back. I see this being more suited for a claw grip. The clicks are responsive, but also feels lighter and softer. The sniper button could maybe be a bit further back, but these are nitpicks. It has tilt gestures that you can assign actions to which can be useful, but I didn’t use them.
The battery life seems good. I used it for a while and never had to charge it.
The slipstream receiver can link other slipstream devices together but the range is short and needs direct line of sight. I have my tower right next to my monitor and plugging it in the back would cause dropouts. The mouse can either be used with the receiver or bluetooth with a flick of the switch.
The iCue software lets you do surface calibration, tilt gestures, and of course the RGB. I’ve used iCue for a long time and I don’t have any negatives to say about it. The UI can be better, but overall it works fine.
I’m somewhat ambivalent about this mouse. I like the build and the heavier weight, but the shorter design is clearly made for a claw grip. While a palm grip can still use it, it wasn’t that comfortable for me. It’s still a good mouse if it fits your grip.

Works well with some caveats for watching media
on January 30, 2022
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
-Easy to set up
-Direct connection, no internet required
Con:
-Lag can cause video and audio to be off sync
-Lower video quality
This is a nice portable, wireless way to connect your PC, laptop, or tablet to an external display. It’s a simple setup and is a direct connection so no internet is required. The receiver plugs into the HDMI and is powered by USB, which can either be the USB port on the TV or a power adapter (not included). The transmitter just plugs into the USC-C. Once connected, it takes about 5 seconds for the connection to be automatically established and you can either duplicate or extend your display. It works well enough, but there’s some caveats like the loss of quality, lag, audio desync, and range. How well it works depends on your use case.
For something like working, web browsing, or presentation, it works well. There’s a bit of an input delay and the picture quality is fine. Using it for media is where issues can occur. Right away the drop in picture quality is noticeable, which is expected. There’s more compression and color banding. The audio is also a bit off sync. Even though it’s not unwatchable, don’t expect it to be the same as watching it on your device or through your networked devices.
I think the best use for this is if your device doesn’t have an hdmi out or you need something small and portable for traveling. The range is short and isn’t much of an advantage over using an hdmi cable. As it is, it works well enough as long as you know the drawbacks.

The average person touches their phone 2,617 times per day, transferring germs to it with each touch. The simplehuman EPA-registered cleanstation uses an omni-lux™ chamber to sanitize the entire surface of your phone, killing 99.9% of germs in just 30 seconds – fast enough to use while washing your hands. As soon as you insert your phone, it automatically lowers into the omni-lux chamber where 30 high-intensity UV-C LED lights use highly reflective aluminum to ensure UV rays are hitting the entirety of your phone's surface. When sanitation is complete, the phone will automatically raise up. Keep your cleanstation by the sink so you can wash your hands with simplehuman's touch-free sensor pump while sanitizing your phone at the same time.

A sleek way to clean your phone.
on January 30, 2022
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
-Simple and works well
-Looks good
Con:
-Price
Though it has a premium price, it’s a sleek and simple way to keep your phones clean. It’s well made, with a brushed aluminum exterior and a light ring when it’s activated. Using it is like using a toaster. You insert the phone in the slot and it will automatically lower and sterilize for 30 seconds, until it raises back up. My phone cases aren’t too thick so I didn’t have any issues with that, but if it doesn’t fit then the cleaner would detect it and reject it. I’ve been using it regularly ever since getting it, and hopefully the UV light is doing its job.

Sounds great. Wired and wireless. ANC is lacking.
on January 8, 2022
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-3.5 wired connection mode
-UV light cleaning
Con:
-Noise cancellation could be better
-No wireless charging
These are small, comfortable, and barely noticeable when wearing them. The touch buttons are sensitive but are small enough to help reduce accidentally activating them. The charging case is compact and has two unique features. One is the UV light that helps keep the earbuds clean, which comes on for 5 mins while charging in the case. The other feature is being able to switch to a wired connection. With the wired connection, the included USB-C to 3.5mm can be used to connect to devices that don't have bluetooth such as on a plane or Nintendo Switch.
The sound is good with nice balanced levels. There are other settings available in the app if you prefer to adjust the EQ. The noise cancellation is alright. It mostly cancels really low rumbling or turbulent noises, while reducing other background noises by at least 50%. I can still hear some things like AC and fans well enough. With ambient noise on, background noise is enhanced a bit but still sounds natural with just a bit of a hiss that’s not really that noticeable.
The battery life is about 9-10 hours with the noise cancellation on. The case will give you another full charge. There’s also a quick 5 min charge that will give you about an hour of use.
The app has a nice set of features and settings. It lets you adjust the amount of noise canceling, adjust the EQ, disable the auto play/pause, and customize the functions of the touch buttons. There’s also a Find my Earbuds that play a sound in each of the earbuds as long as they’re within bluetooth range. There’s a Tone Free LAB tab that has two other settings that are still in the works, a game mode and whispering mode. There’s one flaw in the first time setup for the app. The earbuds must be in the case and have not been paired to your phone (forget connection if already paired). If not set up this way, the app will not work properly.

Super comfortable. Quieter and bass a bit weak.
on December 28, 2021
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-Light and comfortable
-Great range
Con:
-Quieter than other headsets
-Weaker bass
-No 3.5mm jack
Build/Usage
The build is all flexible plastic but seems durable under normal uses. Though I do feel like it wouldn’t take much to snap the top. The mic flips up and stays out of the way. The volume wheel has some friction and the turning notches don't feel precise. Sometimes it will increase the volume by 2, but sometimes it’ll go up by 4 per notch. It’s lacking a 3.5mm jack, which I wish they would’ve included.
There’s not much adjustability to these. You can move the suspension strap up a notch and slide the cups up and down by about ¾ inch. There’s some flex to the cups that helps with the fit. Though it’s limited, they fit me well enough.
The range is really good. I can walk about 30 feet away and still get a clear signal. The battery life seems good too, though I have yet to fully drain it. Based on my usage, I should get about 30 hours.
Comfort
I’m picky when it comes to headset comfort. I don’t like ones that are too heavy or clamp down too hard. After wearing these for a while, I can say that this headset is light and comfortable. The clamping is light and the cloth suspension band keeps the pressure off the top of my head. I do like the reversible strap. This is the first headset I’ve had with a cloth strap, and I feel like it makes it much more comfortable. The only part I can really feel while I’m wearing these are the cups. The cups are a bit too narrow. My ears barely fit comfortably inside, but it may be a problem for a person with wider ears. The foam on the cups is soft but can get warm after wearing them for a while.
Sound
Overall they sound fine, but I find that it's quieter than other headsets. I have to turn it up 20% higher to get the same audio level. The bass is also a bit weak and it seems to emphasize the mids more. When I’m gaming, I can hear footsteps and dialogue fine, but it’s not until things like explosions and gunfire get loud that the bass really kicks in. You can adjust the EQ within G Hub, but the Flat and Bass Boost settings didn’t sound that much different.
Mic
The mic is average. It’s clear enough to hear my voice without any hiss or background noise, but it still sounds distant, like I’m speaking through a tin can.
Overall it’s a pretty good headset that emphasizes comfort. It definitely is lighter and more comfortable for me. I can barely feel it on the top of my head and the clamping force is light. The sound level is quieter and the bass is weaker than my other headsets, but still sounds good while gaming. The mic is passable. It has a really good range and battery life as well.

Great modern detector.

This is a small, no frills device. It has a bright and easy to read display. There’s a mute button next to the display, the menu buttons on top, and a USB C power connection. I really like the mount. The suction cup has a bit of stickiness that helps it stay in place when you lock it down, but is easily removed. The unit attaches to the mount with a magnet so it’s easy to detach and store away. I wish the power cable wasn’t the pigtail style. It looks bulky and can’t be tucked away or hidden. The power adapter also has a mute button for easier access and an extra usb charging port. It also comes with a carrying case, but it’s only big enough for the unit and not the mount or power adapter.
You can really customize a lot of the settings, like the display color, color indicator and sound for each band, turn each on/off, to filtering and adjusting the detection strength. If the alerts get too annoying, you can mute it with a press of the button. I don’t know much about the different bands and their frequencies, so I just left it at default. In my use, it hasn’t gone off too much that it needs to be adjusted. Once you’re used to the alert tones for the bands, you can turn off the voice prompts.
It has a GPS feature that if it detects a band at the same location three times, it will auto mute at that spot. It can also be updated to keep the database of redlights and speed cameras current.
I haven’t had a radar detector in some time, and this has come a long way from those days. You get a lot of customization and location based smart features. My usage is pretty basic, but it’s good to have the options to adjust the alerts and display to my needs.

Great range for my needs.
on December 16, 2021
Posted by: BeingHonest
from austin, tx
Pro:
-Easy to set up
Con:
-Not 1000 ft, about 200 ft
-Included instructions was only for the access point setup
Setting up was straightforward and easy. The included instructions were a bit sparse, but there’s a link to video tutorials on how to set it up, and switch them to the other modes. The enclosure is about half the size of a waste basket. It’s pretty bulky and not aesthetically pleasing when it’s sticking out your wall. The ethernet connection is covered with a cover and with a rubber seal around the wire. The included mount lets you either mouth it to a wall or a pole. I ended up placing it on a bracket inside my garage to simplify the setup and avoid having to pass the cable through the wall.
Coverage was good for my needs, but nowhere near the 1000 ft range it claims. I got about 200 ft down the street before the signal cut off. At about 100 my signal strength and download speed was still high, near max. Beyond that however, it starts to be less consistent and will start to drop out. My neighborhood has a lot of wifi signals and interference so I’m content with that result.
Though you can set it up to use a wired connection, I didn’t test that out because it would be a hassle to run a wire from my router to the extender.
For my usage, this meets my expectations. It would be bulky and ugly if it was installed on the side of my house. It’s more than enough to cover the area I needed, and should be fine for most unless you really needed that 1000 ft range.

HP's take on MacBook Air, and it's good!
By BeingHonest
With an attractive design and lightweight portability, this laptop is a (big) tablet size package with full size laptop performance. The laptop is incredibly thin at a mere 10.4 mm and weighting at 2.45 lbs.
Build:
The exterior is a matte finish trimmed with gloss gold, which is reflected with the keyboard. This finish is nice since it doesn't leave fingerprints but the shinny gold is prone to marks. While personally I'm not a fan of the dark gray and gold, it does have a premium look to it. On the back is the headphone jack, 2 usb type C, and a power port, along with the exhaust along the bottom.
Display:
The Spectre comes with a 13 inch IPS 1080p display, and while not on par with a retina display, is clear and sharp. You really don't need a higher resolution for this size. The display setting is default to a custom setting in windows, which I find to be about right. The screen is glossy, which can be annoying. The viewing angle is great! I was surprised that this was an IPS panel.
Keyboard and trackpad:
The keyboard is a typical chicklet type key and is responsive and easy to type with. It is backlit and with the gold trimmed keys, gives a nice glowing effect. The glass trackpad is nice and smooth and functions like a button with gesture controls (which I mostly disabled). It's essentially an Apple trackpad.
Speakers:
The speakers sandwich the entire keyboard, and while HP boast that it's custom tuned by Bang & Olufsen, it performs like what you would expect from tiny speakers on a tablet. Not so good, but considering its size, is adequate for watching videos. With music, it tends to crack at higher volumes and the bass is lacking. Still, the speakers can produce good volume and the individual channels stands out.
Performance:
With an i7 and 8 gb of ram, this laptop can handle any day to day task without a hitch. Just don't expect to do any modern gaming with this. Thanks to its PCIe SSD, this thing is fast. It boots up faster than my gaming desktop. But with only 256gb of storage, you might need an external drive. I'm used to gaming laptop so to me the battery life is very good. I can get at least 5 hours of use without optimizing the brightness and performance. It takes a few hours to fully charge and you should be good to go for a while. There doesn't seem to be a way to replace the ssd or battery so I'm hoping they last. I have one major issue with the performance, and is that it can get hot, not warm, but hot. Installing windows update, this laptop got too hot to be in my lap. Doing multitasking can get quite warm as well.
Overall this laptop performs to my expectations. It's thin and light and can handle everyday tasks smoothly. There's not much HP bloatware, which I find refreshing. It comes with a usb C adapter and a slip cover, but in my case is a tad too small and tight. Even with some of its shortcomings, I can't fault it too much given how much was packed into such a small form factor.
This laptop was provided to me for my honest review.

Thanks for update

Thanks for letting me know about the ssd and battery. I didn't see any way to remove the cover, but good to know it's doable. And yes I no longer put it on my lap (laptop-the irony) due to the heat issue. The ventilation is one of the issue I have with this thing, but it's still a good machine.

What motherboard is used

No brand name if that's what you're asking. It's a Dell made board.

Does this have a 850 w power supply? Which brand/ model video card is used for this rtx 2070?

Not sure about the power supply (not visible without taking it out), but with Dell you won't be getting any brand name parts. Just generic grade. The 2070 is a blower style.

Listen to your playlist in peace with these Sony headphones. They have a 40mm dome driver to deliver the full depth of audio, and the noise cancelling feature minimizes outside disturbances for a better listening experience. These Sony headphones have a battery life of up to 30 hours for extended jam sessions.

Really wanna buy these headphones, but does the ANC from these (Sony) create an undesirable pressure to the eardrums? Tried the Bose, they hurt my ears after a while...

I think your case is unique. I haven't heard about noise cancelling causing pain. I have both the Sony and Bose and all I can say is that they are similar, but with the Sony you can adjust the level of NC so that it has less effect in their App. By default, the Sony has a bit of a hiss. It's worth a shot.

I am moving to Australia & hear different information about the power adapters. Do I need a converter to charge this HP laptop internationally? I have the adapter & a converter. Just want to be on the safe side. Thank you!

On the power brick, it says that it takes 100-240v so it should be fine internationally.

Which available adapter is recommended for using with: HDMI screen Ethernet RJ45 network 2 regular USB ports (for wireless keyboard/ printer/ disk on key, not usb-c) Charging ?

There's no HDMI or ethernet out. It only comes with 2 usb-c so you'll just need an adapter to connect to non usb-c devices.

Online, the estimated battery life is 9.5 hours. How accurate is this estimate?

Real world applications would probably get about half of that. I get about 4-5 hours of moderate use.

What users is this directed towards?

Mainly target for everyday users or office workers that needs portability and good performance. For instance if you're looking to get a macbook air or surface pro (only without touch screen).

Stay cool with this Honeywell Turbo Force HT-906 table fan that features 120° extra-wide horizontal oscillation to help keep a large area comfortable. The pivoting head can be adjusted up to 60° for flexible positioning.

How quiet or loud is this fan?

Tired of noisy fans; how is this one for noise? Thanks.
It's a bit quieter but really no quieter than any oscillating fan I've had. This is just smaller and has decent air flow.
