Simple air fryer. Controllable with app or voice.
on April 27, 2023
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
-Quick and easy to cook with
-Control through app or Alexa
Con:
-Buttons sometimes won’t register presses
-Cleaning
Cooking was quick and easy. The presets already provide a good starting point for the different meats. The base defaults and the suggested settings in the quick guide tend to over cook and I had to adjust the time about 2-3 mins less. Once I got familiar with the timing, it cooked well. The basket is big enough for about 15 wings in a single layer, and deep enough for a bag of fries. I did notice that the touch buttons sometimes won’t register when I press it. It’s not a big deal, but I wonder how it’ll hold up long term.
Cleaning, while not difficult, is a bit tricky. The basket has angled vents so it could only be cleaned in one direction and scrubbing it clean is more difficult. For the inside of the fryer, there’s no easy way to clean it, so you’ll just have to reach in and wipe it clean. After some time, I can see grease will start to build up and there won’t be a way to clean it, but that’s true for most air fryers.
The smart features allows you to control the fryer via the app or connect it to Alexa to use voice control. You can’t start the fryer with them, for safety reasons, but you can monitor the time, pause, and change the temperature. When using the app and you put the phone to sleep, there’s a delay before it connects with the fryer again. The app also has recipes. When connected to Alexa, the voice commands conflicted with another appliance so I ended up not using it.
All in all, it’s a fine air fryer. It doesn’t have any other heating features other than frying, but it cooks just fine once you get used to the settings. The presets take out most of the guesswork for temperature and cooking time. The smart features lets you monitor and control it with the app, and you can control it with your voice, but it’s not something I would use heavily.

Fantastic audio and noise canceling, but heavy
on April 23, 2023
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
-Great noise canceling
-Customizable audio settings on both PC and PS5
-2 battery packs for total of 24 hours
-2 mics, a built in and the removable boom mic
-Simultaneous USB and bluetooth connection
Con:
-Heavy and can press down on your head
-Clamping force
Out of the box, the audio sounds fantastic, especially with 3D Audio on the PS5. I can hear the detailed environmental sounds clearly and the direction of the sounds is distinct. I feel like I’m in the middle of the busy streets in Spider-Man, or I can hear the heavy steps and crunches in God of War. Sounds traveling from left to right, or back to front really feel immersive.
The noise canceling is impressive, reducing all background noise significantly. Most low frequency noises are blocked out, while higher pitch noises, like fan noises, are less audible. Even dialogue from the TV is muffled by at least half. Unlike some other Active Noise Canceling headsets, there’s barely a hiss and most of the time you can’t even tell that it’s on. I wish there was a voice prompt when switching it on and off.
There are actually two mics on the headset, the removable boom mic and a built-in one which deactivates once the boom mic is attached. The boom mic is the better of the two but it’s nice to have the option to remove it and use the built-in for more casual use. The mics are okay. It’s clear enough but still obvious it’s a headset mic lacking in the lows and doesn’t sound that full.
The audio settings can be customized either with the desktop app or through the mobile app (bluetooth connected). There’s a lot of settings that can be adjusted. For game audio, there’s settings for the Superhuman Hearing and Noise Canceling. For the mic, the sensitivity and noise gate can be adjusted. There’s custom EQ for both the game audio and mic to help boost the clarity or presence. Lastly the functions of the wheel and multiple action button can be reassigned independently for the PC and PS5.
Comfort is where this headset loses some points. These are on the heavy side, the heaviest pair of headsets I’ve owned in this price range. While the paddings are very soft, it still presses down on my head more than other headsets. The clamping force by itself isn’t too bad, but combined with the weight makes it feel heavier. I got used to it after wearing them for a couple of sessions. Like other headsets with the plastic leather padding, it can get hot around the ears for me.
Battery life is plenty for my usage. It comes with two quick change battery packs, each lasting 12 hours. One battery can be charged in the transmitter and the other can be charged by plugging the headset directly.

Simple landline with bluetooth feature.
on April 12, 2023
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
Works with any bluetooth headphones
Con:
Volume is low
I haven’t owned a landline for almost a decade so it took some getting used to using this type of phone again. It does take a lot of button presses, but setting everything up wasn’t an issue. Standard functions like call transfer, call sharing, and intercom are all there. The call volume is on the low side.
The bluetooth features lets you use any headphones or earbuds with the handset as you would with a cell phone. Setting up takes a few steps, but once it’s paired, it works as expected. The headphone will only be paired with one handset at a time. The range is about 20 feet before the signal starts dropping. It took a while to get used to answering the phone with the bluetooth. If answering from the handset, you have to press the bluetooth button located at the bottom to answer otherwise it will default to the handset. During a call, you can switch to bluetooth by pressing the same button. Calls can also be answered directly by tapping the headphones directly. The call quality will depend on the headphones used.
There’s additional features like voice activated call answering and baby monitor. They may seem useful, but they don’t really work that well. Voice activated isn’t reliable and could trigger with background noise. Baby monitor mode will relay sound from one handset to another, but it doesn't pick up sound that well. I wouldn’t bother with any of the none phone call features.
Having been used to smart phones with touch screens, using these types of phones did feel somewhat clunky at first. Navigating menus required a lot of button presses, and entering text with the numeric keys is cumbersome. Still, the ability to use bluetooth headphones adds a useful feature to the older style phones. Overall there’s no real negative other than the volume being on the lower side. It’s a landline phone with an added benefit of being hands free.

Just fantastic.
on March 13, 2023
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
-Clear detailed sound
-Bi-Wire connection optional
-Include cover sheet
Con:
-Bass news subwoofer to supplement
-Need to be in a big space
Packaging and setup
These speakers are heavy and may need some help moving them in place. Following the instructions on the box, and opening the box from the bottom, attach the feet and flip it over. You can either connect it with a standard single wire connection using the top poles or, if your receiver has the option, use a bi-wire connection. These are big speakers and sound best when set about 10’ away from the listener.
Audio Quality
I have these hooked up to an average home AVR, the Sony STR-DN 1080. Overall the sound clarity is just amazing. They have clear and detailed mids and highs, filling the space as if you’re center stage. It’s lacking on the bass and needs a subwoofer to add more punch to the sound.
Sound stage, to be cliche, really does sound as if you’re right there on center stage. You can clearly hear sounds entering at different positions of the stage, from the subtle taps to the impactful beats.
Midrange is fantastic. Vocals are distinct and all the subtle detailed sounds of the mouth, from the clicking of the tongue to quick gasps of breath, can clearly be heard. The singer sounds as if they’re right next to you.
Low Range is a bit weaker. The presence is there and still audible but it lacks impact. It’s good enough to hear the percussions or rumbling sound effects, but it really needs a subwoofer to fill in the sound.
These speakers have great dynamic range as well. From the quiet build out of the cymbals to the sudden burst of drums, these speakers can easily handle them.
As a part of a surround sound set up for movies, these make my living room sound more like being in a small theater. Even with my underpowered receiver, it fills my room with the range and impactful punch of an action movie and all the quiet details during calmer scenes. With the size of my room, keeping the volume at 20% was more than enough.
If you’re looking for a higher end audio, then these speakers will serve you well. It’s best to pair them with a beefy receiver to really get the best out of these speakers, but they will still work with most standard 6-8 ohm AVR. Even by themselves, they sound amazing, but adding a subwoofer will fill in the gap for the bass. I now want to upgrade all my other speakers to match these.

Clear video. Need to sub to record. No local save.
on February 11, 2023
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
-Clear video
-App is easy to use
-Bright lights
Con:
-No local storage without additional Sync Module
-No free option
-Can’t replace lights
-No zoning
Set up
Installation was straightforward. If you have installed a light before, then it shouldn’t be a problem. It comes with various size screws depending on what type of electrical box you have. It also comes with a hook to hang the light as you connect the wires, which makes it much easier to install. The wifi setup took a few tries as it didn’t connect and I had to delete the camera and run the setup again. Saving settings will sometimes get an error as well.
The fixture is compact and light. The lights are bright at 100%. They are not replaceable. Even though LED have a long life, they can burn out early and you will need to replace the entire fixture. There’s no controls on the fixture itself and everything is controlled through the app.
Video and audio
The camera is clear during daylight, and the night vision is good. The sound is pretty garbled and compressed. The motion detection is quick to detect and record, usually within 1-2 seconds. Live view is quick to load, again within a few seconds.
App
The app is intuitive to use. The UI is easy to navigate and settings are easy to find. Upon starting, you can get into live view right away, or turn on/off the lights, motion detection, or snooze the alerts.. You can adjust the motion settings, video and audio quality, and light settings per device. It’s missing the zoning feature so you can’t block out areas of detection.
Subscription
Without a subscription, the camera only works as a live viewing and detection alert. There’s no free option for saving videos. There’s no local storage option unless you buy an additional Sync Module. The plan either cost $3/month or $30/year for one device or $10/month or $100/year for unlimited devices. The videos will be saved for 60 days.
Overall it’s good. The video quality is good, but the audio is not that great. It’s quick to record and the motion detection is good. It could use a zoning feature to block out busy streets. The app is easy to use and is quick to load live video. The biggest negative is that if the lights goes out, you’ll need to replace the entire fixture. The subscription price is reasonable, but it would be nice to have at least a free 24 hour option or built in local storage.

Nice Trimmer. No USB adapter included.
on February 6, 2023
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
Various attachments and guards
Con:
No USB power adapter included
Trimmer worked well. It’s light and doesn’t vibrate too much. The battery lasts about 3 hours, but it takes about an hour to fully charge, but there is a quick charge for short trimming. Overall it comes with 15 attachments, a carrying pouch, and a non standard USB charging cable. It doesn’t come with a USB power adapter. I don’t usually have a USB charger in my bathroom, so it was a mild inconvenience. If they were going to use a USB cable, it would’ve been better if they had used a USB-C rather than their own wire. At least that way, I wouldn’t need to worry about the cable.
For facial trimming, this set has all the attachments I needed. For beards, there’s two guards for 1mm and 2mm, and one adjustable guard for 3-7mm. The 1mm guard may be a tad too high to achieve the stubble look. There’s also a noise trimmer and a small precision trimmer. The precision trimmer didn’t work as well for me as I had to press harder and didn’t trim my facial hair as well.
For hair clipping, along with a wider trimmer, there’s four standard guards (4, 9, 12, and 16mm) and two fading guards (left and right).
There’s two body grooming guards (3mm and 5mm). It worked well for body grooming. Moved along smoothly and didn't get caught or snagged.

Great prints. A lot of settings to go over.
on January 3, 2023
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
-Clean print quality
-Sharp and vibrant colors
-Lots of supported paper types
Con:
-App looks outdated
-Manual duplex copying
-Not the fastest printer
-Errors annoying to clear
The Printer
The printer has good build quality. It is bigger and heavier than other printers I’ve had. From the front, the ink levels are clearly seen. The scanner can expand up to about an inch for thicker scans. There are three paper feeders, one is the front tray, a top one for longer paper and envelopes, and a rear one for thicker stock. Another feeder for copying folds out at the top. The front touch screen panel, unfortunately, doesn’t tilt up, but otherwise works well. There’s ethernet and USB ports on the side and the phone jack in the back.
Setting Up
I had a bit of trouble setting up the printer after unboxing, loading the ink, and downloading the drivers and apps. The auto wireless setup didn’t detect the printer on the network and I had to manually set it up taking a few tries, because I didn’t realize I had to go into settings and enable the wifi. Entering the password was like old school texting using only the numeric buttons. Once I finished setting up the wifi, finishing the set up and priming the printer was straightforward. Priming it did use up about a fifth of the color inks.
Printing and Copying
The print quality is good with clear text and vibrant color. It is slower than my Brother printers but not too bad. While the print quality is clean, the color accuracy can be off with blues and greens being darker, while reds a bit paler. I also noticed that doing two sided prints will result in text being fuzzier, perhaps from the smearing of the ink.
Copying is fast however two sided copies have to be manually done. It will scan from the feeder, but then the page has to be inserted again for the other side.
Scanning is a bit slower but is simple on the machine. Using the desktop app gives you more settings and image control, but feels like using software from a decade ago.
When an error happens, usually from either running out of paper or using the wrong paper settings, it takes a while to process it and continue the print. You can’t cancel the print at the machine and many times the error message doesn’t pop up on the computer.
Conclusion
It’s not the fastest and not the easiest to navigate the settings but despite some of the minor annoyances, the overall results are good. The versatile printer is a good all in one suitable for a home office. The print quality is sharp and the colors vibrant, and it supports many paper mediums. The big ink tank is advertised as lasting 10,000 prints so it should last quite a while.

Lots of protection and light on the system.
on November 16, 2022
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
-Light on your system
-Features that will scan and protect your personal data
Con:
-VPN slows internet by a lot
-Notifications about features keeps popping up
-Going through personal data is unnecessary tedious
The suite was easy to install with setting each component is a straightforward process. It’s relatively light on the system and offers a lot of different protection. All the components work well, though some are more useful than others, while some are just tedious to go through. It tries to gamify your protection by increasing your Protection Score based on what features you’ve set up. The VPN is only good for light work, and slows down internet speed significantly.
Antivirus and Firewall
Based on my short time with it, I didn’t find any issues with the antivirus or firewall. They didn’t prevent any games from installing and playing online. The virus scan was light on the system. I do get notifications about features and steps I can do to increase my protection, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to turn these types of alerts off.
VPN
The VPN is best only used for light web browsing. Using it really reduces my internet speed, lowering it by 100 Mbps. The number of servers is also limited. The VPN will not work with streaming services, so those looking to watch content from other regions will be disappointed.
Personal Data Cleanup
This feature will scan the web looking for sites that match your information. The more information you provide, the more you’ll get out of it. Once the scan is done, it will list all the sites, but you’ll have to contact each of these sites yourself to tell them you want the information removed. I only provided my basic information and there were already so many sites to sift through. This would be a very tedious process, so McAfee also provides a full service that will do it for you if you upgrade to a higher package. If you really want to scrub your data, then it may be worth it to upgrade.
ID Protection
Another feature that scans for data breaches leaking your information. In my case, this was less useful. The entries that came up were mostly compiled lists that don't give much details other than my email account and password. The whole process just takes so long to go through each one. If I click to see which password, I need to wait for a verifying email and enter the code. This happens with each entry. And once you go through each listing, it’ll play an animation and pop up every time. It’s unnecessary.
Tracker Remover, Web Booster, and browser extensions
The tracker remover will scan your system for store tracking data and cookies and remove them. The web booster will try to speed up your browser loading by stopping things like auto video playing. There’s other extensions you can install such as web advisor and password manager.

Balanced audio. Lots of useful sound settings.
on October 29, 2022
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
-Comfortable cooling foam
-Individual EQ for game, chat, and mic
-A lot of audio settings to adjust sound
-Bluetooth connection
Con:
-Charging dock connection is weak
The headset is comfortable to wear with a nice cooling foam, but the clamping force can be a bit hard. It has a well balanced audio, made better with the bevy of adjustments within the Swarm app. The app, even though it has more installation steps than it should, has a lot of useful settings like audio boosting, spatial sound, and EQ settings. Battery life is okay at 15 hours. Overall a good headset after messing with the settings.
The Hardware
The headset is about medium weight with soft foam on the cups and band. It uses a cooling foam reducing heat build up on the ears. The clamping force is a bit harder, but still comfortable enough for longer sessions. It comes with a detachable flexible mic. The volume dials are loose and feel a bit cheap. There’s RGB on the outside corners.
The base has an RGB ring with two lighting zones. It has two USB ports on the bottom for dual charging. The charging connector is a bit finicky, sometimes not charging. The magnet could be stronger as well.
Audio
The audio is mostly balanced and clear. Games can sound immersive, even without spatial audio turned on. By default it’s lacking in the bass, but because you can both boost the audio and adjust the EQ, it can sound even better.
The mic sounds a bit hollow and hissy, but better after some EQ adjustment with Noise Gate turned on.
The Swarm App
The Swarm app didn’t give a good first impression with the installation. Once installed, another module for the headset needed to be installed, which then needed to be updated. A restart later, the firmware for the headset needed to be updated. The update requires both the charging base and headset to be plugged in, needing two free ports.
Within sound settings, you can boost bass, tremble, dialogue, and chat. Boosting the bass up a bit made the audio much more to my liking.
There’s settings for Spatial Audio and Superhuman hearing. Spatial audio can make it sound like surround sound, but can also make it sound hollow and processed. Superhuman hearing can boost footsteps and gunfire, but it sounded more like it just boosted all the low frequencies so everything was louder.
The mic settings have a noise gate, but it’s more of a noise suppression. It will reduce background noise like fans and hissing, but it won’t gate noise for keyboard clicks and such. It’s still a useful setting.
In addition to the sound settings, there’s also individual EQ for game, chat, and mic audio. This is useful since you can EQ your mic and have it sound good in all other applications rather than, for example, having it adjusted only in OBS. The mic monitor, however, is before the EQ is applied so you won’t hear the effects.
There’s also settings for the RGB for the base and headset.
Battery Life
The battery will last about 15 hours. There’s a few options for charging, either using the base or plugging the headset directly. The base can be both plugged into a PC USB port and directly to an external power so it can be used to charge without having the PC powered on.

Good. Security features need subscription.
on October 28, 2022
Posted by: BeingHonest
Pro:
-Easy quick setup
-Works as a Zigbee smart home hub
-Integrated with Alexa devices
-Up to 2.5 Gbps internet connection (max speed still depends on your internet speed)
-Small footprint
Con:
-Securities features locked behind subscription
-Wired devices limited to 1Gbps
-Can only use the app to change settings, no browser access
-Wired connection takes a while to connect
The Eero Pro is probably overkill for most households right now unless they have internet over 1Gbps and 6GHz devices. However, if you do, the Eero offers fast wireless speed and coverage, and is easily managed from its app. Alexa integration means it fits well with the Amazon ecosystem. It also serves as a Zigbee smart hub for compatible smart home devices. It does have some faults, like common security features being behind a subscription plan and connected wired devices are limited to 1Gbps.
Setting up
Setting up was quick and easy and all done in the app. Once everything is plugged in, it takes 30 seconds and it will be ready to add it through the app. The satellite nodes are set up the same way, but it will check the placement for optimal coverage.
Alexa Integration and Smart Hub
Being an Amazon product, it integrates well with other Alexa compatible devices. Voice commands can be used to control the wifi like pausing a device or pair devices. Echo devices that are compatible will also extend the wifi. Compatible devices purchased through Amazon can be automatically set up to connect to your wifi, thanks to frustration free setup.
The built in smart hub works with Zigbee devices so no additional hubs are needed to control those devices. If you have other standards like Z-Wave, a hub is still needed.
Performance
Even if my internet speed is not fast enough to fully take advantage of the transfer speed, I have consistent speed and coverage throughout the house. Some of the device handling is weird, with some devices connecting to nodes that are further away rather than the one right next to it. One of my wired PCs would take at least 30 seconds to connect upon waking up. In the app, I can see the device being identified by the wireless manufacturer before it’s recognized and changes its name back to the one assigned to it.
The Eero Pro has two wired ports in the back, one is 2.5Gbps the other is 1Gbps. This means that even if you connect your internet to the 2.5Gbps port, your other wired connections will be limited to 1Gbps.
Advanced network settings can only be done within the app. There’s no browser access. The app works fine, but if you’re a networking power user, you may find it inconvenient.
The biggest negative about the Eero is that the security and parental control features like blocking websites and filtering content are behind a subscription. These are commonly free features found with other routers. The $99 yearly plan also includes features such as data usage tracking, ad and apps blocking, password manager, and Malwarebytes antivirus. Most of these are freely available on their own.
I would recommend this to a friend!

HP's take on MacBook Air, and it's good!

With an attractive design and lightweight portability, this laptop is a (big) tablet size package with full size laptop performance. The laptop is incredibly thin at a mere 10.4 mm and weighting at 2.45 lbs.
Build:
The exterior is a matte finish trimmed with gloss gold, which is reflected with the keyboard. This finish is nice since it doesn't leave fingerprints but the shinny gold is prone to marks. While personally I'm not a fan of the dark gray and gold, it does have a premium look to it. On the back is the headphone jack, 2 usb type C, and a power port, along with the exhaust along the bottom.
Display:
The Spectre comes with a 13 inch IPS 1080p display, and while not on par with a retina display, is clear and sharp. You really don't need a higher resolution for this size. The display setting is default to a custom setting in windows, which I find to be about right. The screen is glossy, which can be annoying. The viewing angle is great! I was surprised that this was an IPS panel.
Keyboard and trackpad:
The keyboard is a typical chicklet type key and is responsive and easy to type with. It is backlit and with the gold trimmed keys, gives a nice glowing effect. The glass trackpad is nice and smooth and functions like a button with gesture controls (which I mostly disabled). It's essentially an Apple trackpad.
Speakers:
The speakers sandwich the entire keyboard, and while HP boast that it's custom tuned by Bang & Olufsen, it performs like what you would expect from tiny speakers on a tablet. Not so good, but considering its size, is adequate for watching videos. With music, it tends to crack at higher volumes and the bass is lacking. Still, the speakers can produce good volume and the individual channels stands out.
Performance:
With an i7 and 8 gb of ram, this laptop can handle any day to day task without a hitch. Just don't expect to do any modern gaming with this. Thanks to its PCIe SSD, this thing is fast. It boots up faster than my gaming desktop. But with only 256gb of storage, you might need an external drive. I'm used to gaming laptop so to me the battery life is very good. I can get at least 5 hours of use without optimizing the brightness and performance. It takes a few hours to fully charge and you should be good to go for a while. There doesn't seem to be a way to replace the ssd or battery so I'm hoping they last. I have one major issue with the performance, and is that it can get hot, not warm, but hot. Installing windows update, this laptop got too hot to be in my lap. Doing multitasking can get quite warm as well.
Overall this laptop performs to my expectations. It's thin and light and can handle everyday tasks smoothly. There's not much HP bloatware, which I find refreshing. It comes with a usb C adapter and a slip cover, but in my case is a tad too small and tight. Even with some of its shortcomings, I can't fault it too much given how much was packed into such a small form factor.
This laptop was provided to me for my honest review.

Thanks for letting me know about the ssd and battery. I didn't see any way to remove the cover, but good to know it's doable. And yes I no longer put it on my lap (laptop-the irony) due to the heat issue. The ventilation is one of the issue I have with this thing, but it's still a good machine.

No brand name if that's what you're asking. It's a Dell made board.

Does this have a 850 w power supply? Which brand/ model video card is used for this rtx 2070?

Not sure about the power supply (not visible without taking it out), but with Dell you won't be getting any brand name parts. Just generic grade. The 2070 is a blower style.

Listen to your playlist in peace with these Sony headphones. They have a 40mm dome driver to deliver the full depth of audio, and the noise cancelling feature minimizes outside disturbances for a better listening experience. These Sony headphones have a battery life of up to 30 hours for extended jam sessions.

Really wanna buy these headphones, but does the ANC from these (Sony) create an undesirable pressure to the eardrums? Tried the Bose, they hurt my ears after a while...

I think your case is unique. I haven't heard about noise cancelling causing pain. I have both the Sony and Bose and all I can say is that they are similar, but with the Sony you can adjust the level of NC so that it has less effect in their App. By default, the Sony has a bit of a hiss. It's worth a shot.

I am moving to Australia & hear different information about the power adapters. Do I need a converter to charge this HP laptop internationally? I have the adapter & a converter. Just want to be on the safe side. Thank you!

On the power brick, it says that it takes 100-240v so it should be fine internationally.

Which available adapter is recommended for using with: HDMI screen Ethernet RJ45 network 2 regular USB ports (for wireless keyboard/ printer/ disk on key, not usb-c) Charging ?

There's no HDMI or ethernet out. It only comes with 2 usb-c so you'll just need an adapter to connect to non usb-c devices.

Online, the estimated battery life is 9.5 hours. How accurate is this estimate?

Real world applications would probably get about half of that. I get about 4-5 hours of moderate use.

What users is this directed towards?

Mainly target for everyday users or office workers that needs portability and good performance. For instance if you're looking to get a macbook air or surface pro (only without touch screen).

Stay cool with this Honeywell Turbo Force HT-906 table fan that features 120° extra-wide horizontal oscillation to help keep a large area comfortable. The pivoting head can be adjusted up to 60° for flexible positioning.

How quiet or loud is this fan?

Tired of noisy fans; how is this one for noise? Thanks.
It's a bit quieter but really no quieter than any oscillating fan I've had. This is just smaller and has decent air flow.
