Jurassic Danger!
on May 29, 2015
Posted by: Quicksilver00
Anyone who has seen JURASSIC PARK can tell you of the thundering AWE they felt the first time they saw it. There are few cinematic experiences that can rival the spectacle of a herd of Gallimimus stampeding on an open plain, or a giant Tyrannosaur roaring in the rain. Jurassic Park, is quite simply, one of the greatest blockbusters ever made. The plot looks simple: a group of experts and friends are invited to explore a theme park that has yet to open - but the premise is high-concept in that way only Michael Crichton is high-concept: the park is filled with living dinosaurs cloned from ancient DNA. And quickly, the ordinary tour becomes a terrifying thrill-ride for survival, complete with claws, teeth, fangs, venom, and more

Great Pokemon Game
on May 13, 2015
Posted by: Quicksilver00
Overall, it's sa fantastic game. And it's great to see that Nintendo didn't just release another frame by frame copy of the original, but that they've actually gone the extra mile to keep the original elements in tact while incorporating their latest features.
Pros
- Mega evolutions are back
- Pokemon Amie and online battles are back
- Primal revisions add alot of variety to battles!
- You can finally actually fly in the game
- Maintaining and decorating your own base gives nice variation to the gameplay
- The DexNav feature makes looking for rare Pokemon a bit more fun
Cons
- secret bases are on the small side and can only hold so many items

"Mr. Grey will see you now!"
on May 13, 2015
Posted by: Quicksilver00
As excited as I was to see Fifty Shades of Grey, I had reasonable expectations. And while it is not perfect (though, honestly, I wouldn't have changed much if given the chance), I felt like Sam-Taylor Johnson made an incredible film adaptation out of a wildly popular book that is some 500 pages in length---and with a restrictive R-rating, no less, for such an intensely erotic story. There is a lot missing from the book but the important stuff remains, and many favorite quotes are included.
Overall a Great Adaptation, Loved It!

Greatest Film About the Struggle to be the Best!
on February 25, 2015
Posted by: Quicksilver00
My initial thought going into this movie, was well below expectations, as soon as the story started to unfold and I got to see the characters start to interact with each other. Needless to say, JK Simmons and Miles Teller have an amazing chemistry to them, JK gives the performance of a lifetime. Truly remarkable! Miles' character strives to be the best but meets face first with a brick wall in the form of JKs' character, truly awe inspiring from start to finish, a modern day "David and Goliath" allegory for the Jazz scene. All I can say is "Must Watch"!

Don't be fooled by the Lights and Glam!

Based on a true story, Martin Scorsese "Casino" is a motion picture about two characters and their chance to rule the desert paradise of Las Vegas… We are introduced in with all the lights, the noise, the flashing and the colors of the town that doesn't sleep day or night…

Experience Martin Scorsese's gangster classic in crystal clear high definition with this special, 20th anniversary release that's packed with absorbing bonus materials. In addition to a commentary track by the cast and crew (including Scorsese and star Ray Liotta) and another featuring Henry Hill and former FBI Agent Edward McDonald, this release also offers the featurettes "Getting Made," "Made Men: The Goodfellas Legacy," and "The Workday Gangster," storyboard-to-screen comparisons, and a theatrical trailer. A bonus disc includes the feature-length documentary {#Public Enemies: The Golden Age of the Gangster Film" and a collection of vintage, gangster-themed cartoons (including "Bugs and Thugs" and "Racketeer Rabbit)."

Classic Mobster Flick!
on December 18, 2014
Posted by: Quicksilver00
This is one heck of a film about the mobsters, based on a true story and coming from one of the great directors of all time. This is about Henry Hill, the narrator of the story, an Irish simple person who gets involved with the Mafia at a very young age and continues his life through it. There is no major plot in this film, just isolated incidents one of which was the turning point of Hill's life. Scorsese, as brilliant as he ever was, shows violence, and other paraphernalia etc in his own trademark style. And his actors helps him to make this film one of the classics.

"I Smell a Rat!" Scorsese's Best!
on December 18, 2014

First of all, the acting, directing, and just about everything else was state of the art. Jack Nicholson was perfect as Frank Costello, a mob boss who is in charge of the organized crime ring in Boston. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Billy Costigan, an undercover cop who sneaks his way into Costello's gang so he can be an informant for the police department. Meanwhile, Matt Damon plays Colin Sullivan, an informant for Costello's mob who works for the police department, and is on his way to be promoted in the Special Investigations Unit. Both men cross paths, and fall in love with the same woman - a psychologist played by Vera Farmiga from the little-known indie Running Scared. Each man starts to become consumed by their work, and when they are both in danger of being found out, only then do tensions rise, and things get a little out of hand. The performances from the leads are all Oscar-worthy. Great American adaptation of a Foreign Film.

A What If...Scenario Type Film, Loved It!
on December 18, 2014

Inglorious B is a dark and violent comic fantasy, gloriously so. Built on the framework of The Dirty Dozen, Inglorious B ditches the elongated training sequences of The Dirty Dozen to plunge into the action right away. In the process, Tarantino fixes one of The Dirty Dozen's major flaws by giving the bad guys screen time to remind us just how bad the Nzs were. The Nzs with the most screen time end up becoming the most completely human characters in the film, which ironically makes them even worse monsters. Great Film based on an Old Classic.

Tarantino's Best!
on December 18, 2014
Posted by: Quicksilver00
As an avid fan of Quentin Tarantino, there's a level of quality that I expect from each film that he makes. I expect to connect with his characters, but not necessarily like any of them. I expect to see a film that satisfies the film geek in me. More than anything, I expect to see a film that entertains throughout the prerequisite bloated running time.
"Django Unchained" is nearly three hours long. But it never feels that long, it entertains and surprises every step along the way. When I first checked my watch, we were already two hours into the film. All of Tarantino's films are usually about this long. Tarantino has been having fun with fictionalizing historical periods lately. This started with 2009's "Inglorious", which was easily one of the best films of that year. My eighty-something year old grandmother, who lived through the time that the film depicted - World War II - said that if events actually happened as they did in that film, that we would be living in a better world today. I think that's a pretty high compliment, especially since my grandmother is not Tarantino's target audience. He was able to design a great story - not an idealistic view of that time period, but still a pretty fascinating one.

Great Adaptation of F.Scott Fitzgerald's Tale!
on December 18, 2014
Posted by: Quicksilver00
Visually, this is one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen. Every period in the film, from the roaring '20s of Benjamin's earliest years, to the 1960s when he lived briefly with the girl of his dreams, are captured almost perfectly onscreen. The cinematography is practically flawless. The film is so wonderfully atmospheric it's almost worth watching for that alone. The special effects are remarkable as well. At different points in the film, both Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt are made to look roughly twenty years younger than their actual ages. This is relatively new in film. It's been possible since the medium began to age actors with makeup, but now it's also possible to de-age them through the magic of CGI. So where it would once have only been possible to make this film using very young actors to play the leads, and use make up to age them into their 40s and 50s and beyond, they can now cast established stars in their 40s and still have them convincingly play characters just out of their teens. The technical wizardry behind this is amazing, and it's yet another example of the magic of the movies. Beautiful Film!
