This collection of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies includes Wes Craven's original entry in the series as well as A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, and Wes Craven's New Nightmare as well as a wealth of extra features.
If you're a Freddy fan, then this is the collection for you. Not every film in the series is a classic like the original, but they're all a fun ride and you can't ever call Freddy Krueger boring. This set also includes 2 episodes of Freddy's Nightmares, which is an underrated series. With 7 films and bonus features, it's not a bad deal for the price.
Jeff Nichols is one of the best young filmmakers today and this is his latest. It's so much more than an awesome sci-fi story and it is that. Michael Shannon and Kirsten Dunst are terrific as parents of a young boy with special powers, who are on the run from the government and a cult looking to exploit his powers. This movie did not get the recognition it deserves and you won't regret checking it out.
In Slasher, a woman is at the center of a series of copycat killings, similar to her parents' murders, when she returns to the small town where she was born. This release collects every episode from season one of the thriller.
I didn't expect much from Slasher, but I was pleasantly surprised. It should appeal to both fans of slasher films and traditional murder mysteries. The actors are very good and the story very well-crafted. It has a bit more sophistication than most horror series, but doesn't skimp on the blood!
If you like rock music and hanging out in record stores, then you'll love this film! It bombed when it first came out, but it has somewhat of a cult following now. There's a big-name cast including Liv Tyler, Robin Tunney, Renee Zellweger, Ethan Embry and Anthony LaPaglia. Just like any coming-of-age movie, it will make you feel nostalgic for your youth and make you wish you could hang out with your friends and listen to records all day.
Green Room is an adequate thriller with a unique premise involving punk rock and murder (I don't want to give any more away). It also features two amazing young actors, Anton Yelchin and Imogen Poots, as well as the OG Patrick Stewart! Yelchin was such an amazing actor, it's so tragic that he died so young. You should seek out everything he's in.
This movie will remind you a bit of Dazed and Confused, but that's not a bad thing. It's a coming-of-age story and that will have you laughing out loud at moments. All the actors do a good job and all in all, it's not a bad way to pass an evening - just make sure you invite some friends over!
I know a lot of people will be seeking out this film now that Brad and Angelina are splitsville, but it's worth a look without all the pre-conceived notions you may have in your mind. Brad and Angelina are terrific actors and have great chemistry (obviously), and they craft a story about a marriage in turmoil that will captivate your attention. The ending was satisfying and I forgot I was watching two mega-stars because I was wrapped up in the characters.
If you liked either of the Avenger films, then you'll love this one! The effects are fantastic. Marvel right now has the best looking actions scenes. The tension between Iron Man and Captain America makes for great drama, and it is a great introduction for the Black Panther and the new Spider-Man. Paul Rudd makes a memorable appearance as Ant Man as well.
This dark and deadly release from the classic David Lynch directed mystery series Twin Peaks captures the complete series, plus the movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, following the story of a small town murder that reveals the disturbing undercurrents of the seemingly idyllic community.
Finally, Twin Peaks is on blu-ray with A Fire Walk With Me! This set is packed with awesome extras that will please any diehard fan. Twin Peaks is one of the best TV shows ever made. If you loved True Detective, check this out and you'll realize TD is overrated.
This was Marvel's best effort of the year! The action is awesome and will keep you on the edge of your seat. It also has some genuine comedic moments that make it the most quotable film of the year. Chris Pratt is a star! If you're a fan of Marvel, this won't disappoint.
