Had never heard of "In This Moment" until my brother and I went to see Stone Sour in concert in Nashville last month. Wouldn't rank them on par with a group like that, but I was impressed. Really good beats and a hot singer to boot! Don't expect to understand any of the lyrics in a concert as she can't quite sing over the heavy bass and music like Corey Taylor can.
Picked this CD up after the concert and I really like it. "Blood", "Adrenalize", and "Wh0re" are my favorite songs. Crank them up and just rock out. Will have to go out and pick up some more of their music.
Hunkered aboard a sturdy military ship and triumphantly homeward bound, Xian Mei, Sam B and the rest of their battle-weary crew are able, at long last, to breathe a sigh of relief — or so they thought. Sure, they may have quelled the wave of zombies that attacked Banoi in Dead Island, but they forgot one rule that governs the sea — beware the Riptide. Just as their rescue helicopter touches down to safety on the ship deck, a furious monsoon ravages the hopes of our unfortunate protagonists and steers them on a direct course toward imminent doom — in yet another zombie-ridden town. An undead uproar is on the horizon once more — and this time, the carnage and chaos promise to be more rampant than ever. Pack your suitcase and load your weapons for another vacation on Dead Island. Rife with all of the mutant-zombie mayhem of the original, plus unforeseen new plot twists, challenges and features, Dead Island Riptide drags you to an all-new danger zone in the town of Henderson. Once a luxurious watering hole for the yacht-collecting upper class and tree-hugging eco-tourists, Henderson is now a storm-soaked ghost town, where only wreckage and occasional boats remain. But this port locale on the island of Palanai is also your one last hope for survival. Rally together with the surviving members of the team, and orchestrate an elaborate defense using traps, fences and turrets to keep your brain-eating foes at bay. This time, the battle gets up-close and personal as a master of hand-to-hand combat joins the team as a fifth playable character. Take control of John Morgan's powerful fists and brawl against zombies like never before. Plus, collaborate more wisely with allies using new and enhanced features in co-op mode. Enhance your Dead Island experience with this Special Edition that comes with an extra character skin, a pack of weapon mods and a digital strategy map. If you can handle the Riptide, you can handle anything — presuming, of course, that you make it out alive.

Never played the first Dead Island but I've had this one on preorder since last year when the steelbook cases were in stores. Always been a fan of the zombie genre and I figured this was a great place to start with the games.
Anyone picking up this game and not the first will feel a little lost at the beginning but the story is good enough to stick on its own and not leave you scratching your head. Some of the quests can be a little repetitive at times, but once you get to the point where you have guns; everything is right in the world. Nothing quite beats that feeling when you put a sniper into the face of a boss mob and blow it's head off in a single earth-shattering blast. It's even better when a single shot takes out a group of zombies. Grenades are great as long as you don't blow yourself up, too.
Riptide looks amazing as well. I felt the graphics were on par with Halo 4 and other titles. Didn't mind standing on the top of a building or tree house and just looking at everything around.
Slightly long loading times were a tad annoying. And my only complaint is the multiplayer system. Both players should have to confirm that they want to join together rather than one person just deciding to join someone at random. Would find myself in a party without even knowing it. Also, when someone joins a party, almost all of the zombies in the area respawn which can nearly get you nuked if they're right on top of you.
I spent 42 hours on the first playthrough and only got 71% completion. Going to have to go back as the other characters and try for the rest. So many sidequests and stuff to do!
This hard hitting release from the girl-power sci-fi anime series Certain Scientific Railgun includes episodes 1-12 of the show, following the story of a girl named Misaka, whose psychic ability to manipulate electromagnetic waves makes her fit right in with all the other espers living in the futuristic Academy City, where other teenagers learn to master their powers for future careers in law enforcement, and try not to let their raging hormones get in the way.

"Misaka's electro-manipulation abilities - and delightfully destructive Railgun projectile move - make her a rock star in Academy City. The techno-metropolis is packed with supernaturally powered students known as espers, including Misaka's flirty friend and roommate, Kuroko. She uses her teleportation skills as a member of the Judgment law enforcement team, fighting crime alongside her fellow agent Uiharu. Joined by their friend Saten, a spunky Level 0 esper, Misaka, Kuroko, and Uiharu have a blast taking on danger whenever and wherever it arises. Luckily, in a city full of super-powered gangs, mad scientists, and the occasional weird monster, the girls have no problem finding plenty of excitement, action, and adventure!"
I had seen clips of this series before in different AMVs and was always curious about it. "A Certain Magical Index" came out late last year and I have yet to pick it up. Based off of reviews though, Railgun is the better of the two series. This series gives you a bit of everything from middle school comedy gags to supernatural fights and even some eye-watering drama. Have to love the Railgun power the most...it is the most powerful and flashy.
Really wish that Funimation had done a Blu-ray release of this one as I would have paid an extra $5-$10 for it. The graphics are still pretty good and the voice acting was bearable. Decided not to go with subs this time. The extras are limited to the textless opening and closing themes with about 7 trailers as well. Nothing special.
Time to watch part 2 and then catch the 2nd season since it just started airing in Japan.
This exciting release from the hard hitting anime series Patlabor: The Mobile Police includes episodes 1-7 of the OVA series, following the story of a distant future in which humans have employed a robot race to take over all manual labor, and a special police unit is employed to combat the terrorism that the AI class is often exploited for.

"Drunk drivers are bad, but put a drunk driver in a giant robot called a Labor and you've got a disaster waiting to happen. And when REAL criminals get their hands on those same giant robots, the cops need giant robots of their own just to maintain the status quo, right? That's the logic behind the development of the Patlabor program and special Labor Crime units like Japan's Section 2, in any case. But what logic fails to take into account is where to find police officers who're equally conversant with both robots and the regulations? That's where the motley crew of Section 2, Division 2 comes in! With ridiculously perky tomboy Noa Izumi and gun-happy madman Isao Ohta as primary Labor pilots and the impossibly laidback Captain Goto in what passes for command, SV2 is ready to hit the streets with their twenty-ton feet! But will they be taking a byte out of crime or have they bitten off more than they can chew? The law of the land and the laws of robotics are about to collide in the first Earth shattering collection of MOBILE POLICE PATLABOR!"
Patlabor is one of those old-school classics thats name has been around for decades. The basis of the story is basically about a group of misfits that somehow became police officers and have been assigned to use the latest giant robot mechs, Labors, to uphold the law. The OVA here is more comedy than anything else except for episodes 5 & 6, in my opinion. You could call it good, clean fun. No blood, men's backsides but no women's. Don't even remember any cursing.
The artwork is definitely old style. Being such an old series, the Blu-ray looks quite nice although it's hard to compare to newer programming. The newest style of Labors that SV2 is using are extremely reminiscent to those of Macross/Robotech and Tekkamen Blade. Surprisingly, the mechs aren't the star of the show. Perhaps they would be if the pilots didn't have a few screws loose!
I love how on the back of the box they list the entire time-line for Patlabor. The OVA series #this one# is the first followed by the 3 movies. The actual TV series is on a different time-line and is followed by "The New Files". Hopefully this means that Maiden Japan will be re-releasing the entire collection as I know the TV series is coming out in July as well.

Never was big into K-Pop until recently with more anime titles having Korean singers and with Girls Generation playing on our Samsung display at work. Figured I liked the sound enough that I'd start getting some albums!
I always love how Korean and Japanese artists manage to mix in a bit of English into almost every song. It gives a definite tie-in to an English audience that might not know what is being said for the entire song, but they can recognize a key phrase throughout.
This album manage to mix a good amount of song types. Gee starts off as a good up-beat track with lots of energy. "Way to Go" has a definite anime feeling to it. "Dear: Mom" is slow and calming and feels like a slow-paced R&B track. The album finishes with a decidedly pop feel.
Sadly, at only 5 tracks, the album is pretty short. It lasts all of about 16 minutes. Definitely better than just a single, though. Now to just wait on some of the other back-ordered tracks to come back in!

"Blame it on the sheep... Cain Asbell was an unremarkable guy until one of his stray sheep led him into a cave with a trapped fairy named Elise. In a blink of an eye Cain goes from pauper to Lord when Elise helps him rescue the Princess Charlotte. There's just one hitch. Cain has to make his land the most prosperous in the country within 5 years. Should he fail, he'll lose everything and return to being another lowly shepherd. But if he manages to succeed, Cain will gain the Princess Charlotte's hand in marriage!
Sound easy? Not if everyone in your kingdom is out to take advantage of your young age. Between slavers and bandits it's amazing that Cain is still alive. But being a Lord isn't all bad; he has the right to choose any woman he wants to go to bed with him... Tsubaki, who doesn't fully appreciate that her body has a will of its own. Tia, who will do anything for the man that saved her, and Chiffon, whose could heart has yet to feel real passion..."
I've seen a few adult anime of which most are just plain horrible. Then, you come across ones like this once in a blue moon that are actually pretty decent. I saw that this one came out back in late 2012, but I hadn't realized that it originally released in 2002 and this was a rerelease. Pretty cheap for what can be considered a full movie/OVA as most last a maximum of 60 minutes.
Just from the graphics, you can tell that the series is old. It feels very much like I was watching "The Slayers" which makes me want to go and buy all of those series up! -_- The artwork, while not amazing, is of a pretty decent caliber for a hentai. The naughty scenes start off very tame with almost nothing below the belts showing in the first episode and gradually getting more explicit as the series goes on. There's even quite a bit of action and fighting going on throughout. The existence of a viable plot that is the focus of each episode is something you don't see anymore.
As with anything of this genre...you don't speak of the English dubs. It's like the first rule of Fight Club. The extras are non-existent. The only thing that frustrated me was the inability to change chapters. You can fast-forward and rewind, but there's no skipping ahead or backwards.
This sexy and spectacular release from the anime series Samurai Girls includes all 13 episodes of the show, following the story of Muneakira Yagyu, a samurai in training whose greatest challenge at his dojo is avoiding the sexual advances of the female students there, who lust after more than just power.

"Muneakira Yagyu is a gitfed student of the samurai way. But until he arrives at his dojo, he never knew how gifted he truly was. Because there, a beautiful girl, Jubei, falls --naked-- from the sky and right into his arms. And when they kiss, he magically transforms her into a powerful master samurai. So, naturally, every beautiful girl at the dojo can't wait to kiss him. And some, like the sexy Gisen, want to do even more. It's a tale of power and lust, filled with beautiful, scantily clad swordfighters who will do anything to please their master and attain even greater power. Get your sword ready for Samurai Girls!"
Have to start off with how horrible the description makes this series out to be and how bad they butchered the English language as well. Take the packaging out of the equation and you get a pretty good series.
It's not often that you get a fanservice-heavy anime series that has a pretty good plot which is driven with every episode. I kept waiting for that "filler" episode that had nothing to do with the story, but even the beach/bikini episode still drove the storyline on. I disliked the art style when I streamed a couple episodes last year but it gives the series a nice touch. And the fighting sequences are done wonderfully, too. Lots of action and the fights last more than 1-2 strikes which I enjoyed.
The negatives? Not much except that the series could have been a couple episodes longer. Felt just a tad rushed in the last 3 episodes. And the fanservice is pretty extreme. The version on TV had loads of censoring. There aren't any censors on the blu-ray version except for an elephant head that pops up if you get a frontal for Muneakira. Uniforms always seem to get torn up just over the chests...
Loved the extras as well. Over 15 little side stories/clips are generally really humorous. Also, the original dub is good, but the English dub was very good, too. Can't go wrong with either.
Waiting over a year to pick this one up which I regret a little, now. They've spun off a couple side stories at this point which I'll have to watch as well.

Basic synopsis for the movie is already posted but there's a bit more to it than that. You can definitely feel the American influence on the film and with it there's a bit of anti-American sentiment. The more you watch Korean/Japanese films, the more you'll notice it. The story was decent but I wouldn't call it amazing. It didn't flow really well in my opinion. The characters were all a wreck which I suppose is what makes them such a dysfunctional family. Was never really sure which part of the movie was supposed to be a comedy, drama, or horror scene.
That being said, the movie is definitely rewatchable. I found myself rewinding at points to see if I had missed something in prior scenes.
CG was done pretty well throughout the movie, too. Can tell that they had a decent budget to work with. Also, I enjoyed the English voicing and I think I recognized a voice or two from various anime series.
Quite a bit of Extras included in this one including some director/cast commentaries, gag reels, trailers, and more. Watched through about half of them and found them entertaining.

Saw this in the store last week and had to do a retake. Foreign film with a tentacle on the front..."I've seen enough hentai to know where this is headed!" That little meme popped into my head but after reading the back and a couple reviews of the movie, I figured that for only $5 it was a pretty good buy.
Sadly, the first one I got was a defective disc. PS3 and XBOX couldn't read it and it took my PC 5 minutes to play 2 seconds. Had a horrible feeling that they sent the store Region 2 DVDs or something. Took it back and had it exchanged for a new one which played just fine.

I haven't really kept up with Drowning Pool since the old "Bodies" song which was pretty epic even if it was incredibly repetitive. Was just one of those awesome songs with a gnarly beat that kept you rocking and pumped. Heck, I didn't even know this album was coming out until I saw it next to the new Stone Sour CD and figured that I would give it a shot.
Now, I regret that I didn't try to stay caught up with the rest of Drowning Pool's music as this CD rocks. The beats aren't quite as hard as what I remember from "Bodies", but the music tends to flow a bit better. There's actually a bit of meaning with the lyrics and a couple of the songs give a slower tone to keep the CD from being completely hard rock. Little bit of Alternative never hurts.
Resilience keeps its heavy rock songs at the front and saves the slightly more mellow tracks for the finish. Have to say that "Bleed With You" is my favorite song. Just love it.
And at only $2 more, I had to pick up the deluxe version with the DVD. Two music videos from this album + about 10 studio recordings of different songs. Definitely worth it.

I try not to be a grammar-junkie, but I think "saadcitystar" is trying to say that he/she's happy with their remote programming. It sounds like he/she purchased a Harmony remote with RF (radio frequency) instead of IR (infrared) that is capable of sending signals over about a 50' range and can even go through walls, cabinets, etc...
If purchasing a remote programming by itself, the service is $99.99, but if you're having other services done as well (audio setup, wall-mounting, calibration, or networking), the service actually drops down to $59.99.
Album came out back on Tuesday and it arrived on Wednesday. Love the quick shipping here.
Hide and Seek isn't quite the same as previous albums from The Birthday Massacre. Couple of the songs have a little bit darker feeling to them, but the overall sounds took me back to music from the 80's and early 90's. Really loving it.
Wouldn't really say that there's any songs that just jump out at you, but it actually works out good for this CD. Really enjoying every single song so I can just keep the entire thing going on repeat. Would be nice to have a killer hit like "Blue" or "Red Stars" thrown in, but the whole thing more than makes up for it.
There's also a Vinyl version available as well, but you'll have to order that through other means if you want it. Definitely recommend this one to any fans.
Have to update this as I've had this CD going for the past month in my car. Truely great CD. Very little pops out because all of the songs are so good. Should have given this one 5 stars.
This release from the chilling anime series Gunslinger Girl includes all 13 episodes of the show's first season, following the girls of the Social Welfare Agency, who appear from the outside to be orphaned schoolgirls, but are actually trained to be cold blooded killers. Extras with the release include voice director commentary, textless songs, and more.

Killer girls from...
ByDvalfromClarksville, TN
Genre: Action
"Officially, the social Welfare Agency is a government sponsored corporation that's in the business of saving lives. At least, that's the ruse. In reality, it's an agency on the fringe of technology. They give terminal patients another shot at life using cybernetic implants. This conditioning process then shapes the patient into an effiecient machine for handling all of the goverment's dirty work. They've been given a second change at life, but at what cost?"
Basic plot: Little girls that were about to die have been given a second shot at life, but in return they're basically assassins for the government. The first season here doesn't really do much more than give us a character intro for 6 different girls. The story takes place in Italy which is a huge change of pace for most anime. Plot only got an average score because of the lack of one thus far.
Cinematography: The graphics are very visually appealing. Seeing everything out in the Mediteranean is a good change from the streets of Japan. The character designs themselves aren't very well done, though. They're really kind of normal. However, there's a ton of detail put into the outfits, guns, and scenery. Found it kind of odd, but the Blu-ray version is definitely nice and crisp. No jagged edges around the faces like on DVD versions.
Acting: Loved the English voice-acting and didn't touch the original Japanese. Kind of want to just to hear they're versions of each girl.
Extras: Non-existent. Not a single trailer, commentary, or even a textless opening or ending. Bare bones.
As the first reviewer posted, the story is a little disturbing. If you can get around little girls being used as military dolls, then the action is quite nice and I really enjoyed it. Just not the best series out there. Should definitely pick it up if you like anime, though.
Completely forgot about the extras on disc 2. There are actually quite a few. The voice-actor commentaries about their own characters are really enjoyable. Would bump the Extras up to 4 stars, but it wouldn't change the overall rating.
This mind-bending release from the psych-horror anime series Deadman Wonderland includes all 12 episodes of the show, following the story of a high school boy who is unjustly jailed for the murder of his class in a prison system that fits him with a collar constantly injecting him with poison. The poison can be neutralized if he can take regular doses of the antidote often enough, though these can only be obtained through prison work.

Supernatural prison
ByDvalfromClarksville, TN
Genre: Supernatural, Action, Drama Length: 12 episodes + OVA
"Ganta is the only survivor after a mysterious man in red slaughters a classroom full of teenagers. He's framed for the carnage, sentenced to die, and locked away in the most twisted prison ever built: Deadman Wonderland. And then it gets worse.
At Deadman Wonderland, convicts are forced into brutal deathmatches for the amusement of the masses, the cheers of the crowd drowning out the screams of the dismembered. Even when Ganta befriends Shiro, an unusual female inmate, his dark fate crushes all hope – until he discovers the strange ability to wield his spilled blood as a weapon. Ganta learns his new skill might be related to the murderous man in red and uncovers disturbing secrets that could expose those who stole his freedom. He's determined to see justice served – but first he'll have to fight for his life in a prison that holds a million ways to die."
Deadman Wonderland is a decent series that gained attention in America after Cartoon Network aired it on the Toonami animation block when it was reincarnated back in 2012. I caught the first 2 episodes, but never got around to watching the rest. The series is filled to the brim with blood, gore, and action. The English dialogue is pretty racy as well. It does an excellent job with the shock factor. You just know someone is about to die, but it can be a little hard to predict how it's going to happen. Sadly, the series is quite rushed and a ton of knowledge is never made known. There also isn't really a true ending. Red Man remains a mystery, sort of. What relation does Shiro and Ganta have? Don't want to spoil any of the ending, but it pops up just as many questions and doesn't really answer anything. It leave tons of room for a 2nd season, but I haven't seen anything in the works, yet.
I enjoyed the series overall even with the rushed ending and lingering questions. My brother was also a fan and admitted that he was a little confused with the entire thing. This is a great value on a pretty good series. Pick it up!

Came in looking for a new portable radio. Salesman guided me to a blue-tooth speaker to connect to my phone instead. Can also use this with my MP3. Works much better than the radio would have and great sound. Helpful salesman did a bit of technology training to help me get it set up.
This set serves up every episode of the anime series Coppelion.

Great anime!
ByACEACEfromCORONA
Picture and cgi excellent. Story excellent. But I gave it 3 stars because the sound is pcm only. That means stereo not 5.1 dolby digital much less DTS. Why they don't spend the money on the sound affect on Bluray is completely troubling.
It'd be great to have more titles with full 5.1 or 7.1 dolby digital sound, but it's pretty rare outside of the big movies. Really long answer so I'll just paste the response from the animenewsnetwork for you.
Audio is important, and many fans are becoming more and more concerned with making sure that they're getting the best quality audio possible when they fork over the money for a shiny disc of their favorite show. But with so many different formats, which one is best? Which ones should you be asking for? Sometimes the difference is negligible or non-existant, other times it makes a huge difference.
Let's start with the easy one: why some shows have 5.1 mixes for the dub, but not for the original Japanese. I've answered previously on this column that most TV anime doesn't bother with anything more than a stereo (2.0) mix because the Japanese broadcast standard doesn't really support 5.1 audio, and given how big home theater systems aren't as common in Japan for a number of reasons, they generally don't bother remixing for 5.1 when it comes time to release the discs on home video. However, when making the dub, an American publisher might think 5.1 is worth the extra work. If they're already set up to do 5.1, the audio has to be remixed anyway, so it is an opportunity to have a nice added feature for dub fans.
5.1 mixes require special equipment, take a lot more time, and are harder to check for errors (and requires a lot more office space to do so), so it's often not practical to do 5.1 mixes for everything. They can also cost more money. The decision to make a 5.1 mix is made on a show-by-show basis, based on whether the Japanese is 5.1 (usually just movies and some high-end OAVs) and how much the show is predicted to sell.
As for what format in which they're stored on a disc, these days you generally see 4 different kinds of audio tracks: • Linear PCM (Completely uncompressed, basically just a WAV file. Takes up a lot of space, especially in 5.1.) • Dolby Digital (AC3) (Lower quality, like an MP3, but takes up a lot less space. Supported by DVD and Blu-ray.) • Dolby TrueHD (Blu-ray only. The full quality of the WAV file, but compressed to a more manageable size. Still much bigger than AC3, however.) • DTS Master Audio (Blu-ray only. For the end user, pretty much identical to Dolby TrueHD.)
When you make a DVD or Blu-ray, you are tasked with squeezing a lot of data onto a finite amount of space, so compression can be very important. Wasting too much bandwidth on audio means you might have to sacrifice video quality. The above compression formats are essential ways to get the most quality out of an audio track without having an unwieldy amount of data to contend with.
Audio quality obsessives swear that Dolby Digital AC3 audio has a lot of distortion and they can DEFINITELY tell a difference. I am skeptical. I've definitely heard bad AC3 encodes that definitely affected audio quality, particularly in very early DVDs, but there has never been a double-blind study that shows even audio experts can tell a difference at higher bitrates (and quite a few proving that nobody can tell at all). At any event, the presence of "lossless" audio (in either LPCM, DTS-MA or Dolby TrueHD) has become an important marketing bullet point for Blu-ray discs, so whether people can REALLY tell the difference or it's all a placebo effect, who am I to argue.
