very easy setup, nice features
on August 21, 2017

First off, right off the bat, I have to say that this is by far the easiest printer setup process I've ever done!.
Whats in the box: not much. The printer, some small in cartridges, and some setup guides.
Features: Quite a few. Wifi, bluetooth, USB ports, ADF feeder, flatbed scanner, separate photo paper tray, fax (who faxes these days?)
Setup: like I said, VERY easy! I've set up many a printers in my days, and this one is a cakewalk. You plug it in, put the ink in, goto 123.hp.com and type in what kind of printer you have....and via magic (or low power bluetooth.....) it does everything else. No clumsy wifi setup on the printer itself, no searching and digging for software....it just does it for you. I have both mac and PC at my house, and it worked flawlessly on all of them to get it set up and running. There is also an Android and iOS app that allows you to to printer settings and print photos as well.
Use: I noticed that when printing a picture from my iPhone via AirPrint, the crop was WAY off. Once I printed from the HP app on my phone, it worked just fine. The scanner works very quickly, with nice results. The printer is plenty fast, and doesn't do many "noise of my people" noises when you would like to print....it just prints.
Cons: It comes with small in cartridges, which forces you to get new ones fairly quickly. This printer does have the new instant ink features, and I am signed up, but haven't received new cartridges yet. I'm not sure about the value of instant ink...but it seems ok (basically $3.99 a month for the cheapest one, and you get new ink when the printer says you need more ink. You can print unto 50 sheets per month with this package).
Of note: it was making a very loud grinding noise when I first started using it. I opened and closed every compartment I could think of, and the noise went away. The printer only has a tricolor ink, and a black ink. So once the tricolor runs out of a single color, you have to get an entire new cartridge. Photo print quality is not bad. Not the best, but not the worst either.

high quality video, good features, expensive fee's
on August 1, 2017

This camera is a very nice update to some of the web cam's that are out there these days.
This camera is very versatile, and allows you to change its usage setting by getting different accessories. You can get different mounts such as a wall mount or a window mount that mounts the camera directly to a window for looking outside without the glare. You can also get a battery pack mount that makes the camera wireless, or a mount that plugs directly into an electrical outlet without any cords.
This is an indoor/outdoor camera, which 1080p video quality, two way audio, and a 180 degree ultra wide field of view.
Setup: out of the box it was very easy, plug it in, get the app on your phone, follow a couple steps and you're off and running.
Features: You get a short free trial of all of the premium features, which I'll go over a few of them: The person detection works very well, and you get a notification on your phone within 30 seconds or so that a person was detected. You can set up zones, but only online not on the app, to help split up your motion detection. You can use two way audio, and talk through the camera using your phone. You can also hear whats going on. The app is well laid out, and it is easy to quickly view motion events, or do a "daily summary" which creates a short video for you to watch which is basically a snapshot of what happened throughout the day.
Bad part: These features cost 100 dollars per camera per year. If you don't pay, you get 24 hours of recorded history for free, but no detection features. The good part about this is at least you get 24 hours free, some of the competitors give you nothing.
I would give this 5 stars if it wasn't for the high fee.

cleans well, not very intelligent...at all

So, you want a roomba. Is this a good roomba? Kinda
Whats in the box: The roomba (Well call him Waldo, because you will constantly be finding your self saying "where's Waldo"), home base, extra filter, one electronic wall.
Setup: Very easy. I had waldo out of the box, plugged in, and connected to wifi in a matter of minutes. There was enough charge in him to get him cleaning almost right away. Waldo actually speaks as well to help during setup.
Use: You can schedule, 7 days a week, with different times to allow Waldo to clean on his own. You can also manually start a cleaning session by hitting his button, or using the app on your phone.
How well does he clean? Ok. As most of you know, until you get to the 960 or 980, the Roomba is dumb. Like irritate you while you watch it dumb. My recommendation is to let Waldo do his thing when you're not home, or you will be screaming at him. Waldo will aimlessly bounce around while cleaning, with no pattern. While this allows it to clean extra well in some spots, it completely misses other spots in the house. These dumb Roomba's are not really made for multi room cleaning, if you want that, get a 960 or higher with the better navigation.
Overall: I've ran Waldo 10 times now, on one level with around 2000 square feet, with around 4 rooms in that area. Each time he runs, he gets different spots. This is both good and bad. We run Waldo 7 days a week, so after a couple days most of the level is clean, but he will not do all the rooms each run. Some days he completely skips rooms, while other days thats basically the only room he does.
The way docking works is, once Waldo things a job is complete (I'm not actually sure how he thinks its complete), or when the battery runs low, he starts searching for his home base. By searching, I mean he just bounces around like an idiot and hopefully he ends up within 7 or so feet of his home base, THEN he gets all excited and goes towards it. So, if he gets stuck in a room, he will bounce around until his battery dies, since he doesn't actually know where home is.
The bad parts so far:
1. First run, his bin full indicator turned on. I emptied it, and the light stayed on, no matter how much I cleaned him. I had to chat with online tech support. They had me do a software reset (easy) and the light turned off. Also on first run, he couldn't find his home base, and bounced around in my walk in closet for 30 minutes and the battery died.
2. Second run: Bin light works as its supposed to, Waldo bounced around in living room for 47 minutes and battery died.
3. Third-current (10 or so) runs: Waldo has managed to find his home base each time! Making an adorable "I made it daddy!" sound each time. Problem is, the stupid bin full light doesn't always shut off after I empty him. It will after it docks, but if you just pause the cleaning run and empty and continue, the light will stay on each time. I think its VERY sensitive to dirt, and I have a dog and cat with dander, so that doesn't help.
Wifi: This touts wifi connectivity, but you don't get much with it. It does make scheduling easy, and you get push messages when Waldo is in trouble, but thats about it.
Overall: cleans well, but with a few quirks. If the worst thing I have to do is pick him up and bring him home sometimes, but yet I have clean floors. Thats not a deal breaker.
If you want your entire level cleaned each time....get the higher end models. If you want an adorable dumb dumb bouncing around your house. Get this one.

great build, lots of uses, a few small flaws
on June 28, 2017
Posted by: Alex
from Minnesota
Overall, this is a great convertible computer, with lots of power and options. There are a few small quirks, but none of them deal breaking by any means.
What's in the box: The tablet/computer, attachable keyboard, active pen, charger, leather carrying case and a usb-c to usb-a dongle.
Features: Very high quality and resolution screen, front and back cameras, stereo forward facing speakers, detachable aluminum keyboard with trackpad, and a new HP active pen. Initial setup is easy with Cortana walking you through the whole thing.
Build quality: Excellent. Everything feels sturdy while being light. The keyboard is aluminum and backlit, and the computer itself is built of aluminum and has a bronze colored kickstand that comes out to help keep it in "laptop" mode.
Use: The computer is very fast, turns on as quick as any other tablet running stripped down tablet software, while running full blown windows 10. The pen works out of the box, all you do is add batteries (with some quirks...more in the cons section below). You can lock your computer, and unlock it using facial recognition. When it works (more below), it is very quick and easy. The keyboard attaches via a magnet, and is easy to attach/detach, and the computer knows when it is attached, and will change windows to the correct settings (tablet/full windows mode) automatically. The touch screen is very responsive, and the graphics are clear. Sound is very good for a convertible computer, but not the greatest either. Expect it to be tinny, but better than I expected out of something this size. This thing is actually useable as a tablet. When you detach the keyboard, it is light and useable on its own. It turns into tablet mode, and the on screen keyboard pops up when you need to type.
Cons:
1. Battery life is a bit short, nothing like an ipad, but this is also a full blown computer. I have to charge it every other day or so, with a few hours of use each day. Standby mode seems to eat the battery more than a normal tablet...but like I said, this is full windows.
2. The active pen does not have any settings. The paperwork says that I can use the HP Pen setup app, but it is not installed, nor can I find it anywhere. I'm not sure what the 2 buttons do, and I can't seem to customize it at all since I don't have/can't get the app.
3. Using the device on your lap is kind of difficult as the whole setup is "floppy". While the keyboard does fold around nicely, and the kickstand is well built. It all has to balance on your lap, or things start flopping around. On a steady surface it is great, but at times it can get a bit finicky.
4. Logging in using the camera/facial recognition is finiky. When it works it is very fast, but more often than not it doesn't work. It seems to need A LOT of light to work. If it is shadowy at all, no dice. It will just say "make sure you are looking directly at the camera" or "looking for you". You then have to click "other sign on options" and type in your password.
Overall: Very nice computer with a few flaws.

looks great, quiet, lots of settings
on June 14, 2017

This is a high end coffee grinder, with lots of options.
Looks: Looks great on the counter. Stainless steel and black rubber make up most of it, with some plastic parts. It has excellent build quality and feels very well made.
Features: 18 different grind settings, with everything from French press to espresso and everything in between. The LCD screen makes it easy to set brew strength and cups. It also lets you know if any of the parts are not set in there correctly (IE the bean hopper or the grind bin). You can grind into the "normal" bin, or directly into a portafilter (the part that goes directly into an espresso machine, rather than transferring it over, the grinder comes with an attachment to grind into one of these, and the attachment fits inside of the grinder for storage). The "normal" bin also has an airtight lid with a rubber stopper so you can store grinds if you grind too much at once.
Useability: The grinder is easy to use. Simply turn it on, use the dial to select the number of cups you, bush the strength button for either light, normal or strong, and push the "play" button. The grinder will automatically grind as much as it needs to in order to get the correct number of grounds.
Cons: It is a little messy, as is any grinder. There is not much static electricity build up, which makes dumping the grinds into the coffee maker easy. I do feel that it grinds too much coffee for your settings. If it set it to "normal" and 9 cups for my coffee pot, it grinds a bit too much I feel.
Other than that, this is an excellent grinder.

excellent receiver with lots of options.

This is an excellent receiver, especially in this price range.
I'm not going to list all of the features, as it would be too long and redundant, but I'll go over a few.
Whats in the box: not much. The receiver, microphone for auto-calibration, remote (much improved over old sony remotes) and quick start guides. If you want a full manual you have to go online.
Features: TONS. Dolby Atmos, and the capability for powered zone 2 (if you use 5.1 in the main room). The system will also automatically adjust for "improper" speaker placement, because lets face it, not many of use has a room that allows for proper speaker placement. The unit will self calibrate, but like most microphone based calibration methods, it is not very accurate, but is much better than doing nothing. My 2 cents: spend 15 minutes and calibrate it manually. My room setup is 5.1.2 with 2 front high speakers, but this system will allow for front highs or ceiling mounted. All of the HDMI CEC is the same on this unit as it is for others. It allows for passthrough, and auto input switching and so fourth.
Quality: build is great. Sound is excellent. I noticed an immediate improvement over my 4 year old sony receiver. The remote is much less cluttered than the old one as well. For this price, you can't get much better.
Cons: not many. The menu is a bit slow to respond, and sometimes I have to click the remote a couple times to get a response out of it.

decent trimmer with length adjustment
on May 4, 2017
Posted by: Alex

this is a nice trimmer with a built in adjustment for length. The guard and blades are both removable for cleaning. The unit is quiet and trims well. My only two cons are a lack of battery gauge, so it just dies when it dies, and you cannot use while plugged in. If the trimmer dies mid trim, you are only going to be partially trimmed while it charges back up.

work well, styling a little clunky
on March 30, 2017
Posted by: Alex
from Minnesota
lets start from the beginning
Whats in the box: The headphones, aux cable, charging cable, carrying bag. I would have like to of seen a hard carrying case rather than just a bag, especially at this price point. Lack of a power brick is understandable, as most people have plenty of usb power bricks laying around.
Quality: The build quality is good. Soft ear cups, soft head band, quality plastics. Sound quality is equally as good, there is a bass boost option which I keep off, as it tends to make things too "boomy" for my taste.
Style: a bit clunky for my tastes. Not nearly as sleek looking as some other headphones on the market.
Features: wired or wireless connectivity, play/pause track skip forward/backward buttons. Noise cancellation. All features work well, the noise cancellation is on par with other headphones that I have tried with the same features.
Battery life: I get around what is advertised, though I do keep bass boost off. I wish there was a meter on the headphones them selves for charge level. The only way to see charge level is through the phone app.
App: There is a companion phone app, which honestly, I have yet to find a use for. It lets you turn some features on and off, but not much else.
Overall: Good sound, good quality. Styling is a little lack luster, but to each their own on that.

works well, slightly cheap feeling
on February 7, 2017
Posted by: Alex
from Minnesota
Lets start with the beginning. Everything is packaged very well. When I took everything out of the box, it looked a little daunting to put it all together, but in reality it only took a couple of minutes. One thing I did run into was the somewhat cheap feeling of the clips. They are all plastic clips, and when snapping together they sometimes felt a little "cheap". It all went together fine though.
Features: A normal brush roll vacuum, and pull out wand and a pull off handle for close up work. I LOVE the adjustable suction. This works beautifully when getting cat hair off of a bed. I used the pull of handle with brush attachment, and turned down the suction and was able to get the hair off very easily, without pulling the whole dang duvet cover into the hose as well. You are also able to take the main unit off of the brush roll, to turn it into a canister type vacuum. The unit also has headlights, which is both adorable and slightly useful looking for hair in corners or under tables/chairs.
How well it works: Very well. I compared it to my Dyson, and it picked up pretty much the same amount of hair. The dust bin is easy to empty, and its designed so that the hair doesn't get tangled around the middle like my Dyson does. The hair just falls out of the bin. The vacuum isn't silent, but very quiet for a full size vacuum.
Overall: Works well, the price is right, and has tons of features. I'm worried about longevity as the build quality seems a bit cheap.

great, well built battery
on December 27, 2016

this will be a simple review, because this is a simple product, but it works exactly how you would expect.
If you want to charge your watch and your phone at the same time, this is the product for you. Even if you just want to make sure you can top off your phone, this product is for you.
This battery is well built, has as very quality feel to it. It has one USB port for your phone charger, and a built in watch charging puck. It also has 4 LED lights to show you the charge of the battery itself. It has an "on" button, but its not an off button. This was slightly confusing for me in the beginning....you plug in your devices, and press the "on" button, but if you press it again it doesn't turn off the battery. The battery is smart enough to know when you unplug your device and it turns itself off. I actually love this, as knowing me I would forget to turn it off!
So far I've charged my watch twice and my phone once....and the battery level is only down 1 light.

How do you switch out of Boost mode?

I may have accidentally pressed the Boost button while connecting the right sweeping tool. I was not able to switch the Boost mode off. I had to use the vacuum in Boost mode that ran out of battery in 6 minutes and then I have to recharge for 3 and half hours. Is it possible to switch off the Boost mode?
in order to turn it on or off you have to do it while holding the trigger.

with one had, pull the trigger to turn the vacuum on, with your other hand press the "max" button on the back, the unit will switch back and forth. There is a blue ring lit up around the max button when max mode is on.
