Kid A is mindblowingly great. The album deals with some heavy themes, such as depression, among others. The sound is genre-defying. Easily Radiohead's best.
Amazing performances by the whole cast, with a particular praise for Stephen Dillane as Thomas Jefferson and Laura Linney as Abigail Adams. Production value is great. My only gripe is with the video on the Blu-ray disc. There is very little grain and a lot of edge halos present. Still worth it over the DVD, but don't expect it to wow you as much as say, Game of Thrones.

What's great about it: Fantastic ensemble, great direction, amazing audio mixing.
While it changes the family dynamic, this film updates the original story to fit the current time while still being faithful. It has good acting, and a tremendous audio mix. Video is bleached and grained up to mimic old war footage, just like Saving Private Ryan. It has a bit of a Spielberg "touch" though, which sort of hurts the end, but it's worth it.
What's great about it: Amazing adaptation of a classic novel, great transfer to BD by Paramount.
Oblivion has some of the best cinematography of movies from this year. Shot in Iceland, it has amazing locations as well as great visual effects. The story is a bit reminiscent of another sci-fi film, Moon, but both are great in their own way.

What's great about it: Great story, characters. The Blu-ray looks and sounds amazing.
Star Trek is a science fiction landmark. Anyone who doesn't own these films needs to. They're great (well, maybe not The Final Frontier, but whatever.) Video is awful, with the exception of the Wrath of Khan. WoK received a 4K remaster, unlike the other five. They suffer from horrendous amounts of DNR and edge enhancement, mostly due to being an older master. Bad move, Paramount. Audio is pretty great, but 7.1 is a bit of an overkill. These discs are jam-packed with extras. No disappointment there. Overall, these are recommended, even with the bad video.

What's great about it: Great films, incredible cast and music.
Star Trek Into Darkness is a surprisingly good action film from the generation. The first two-thirds of the film do a great job of continuing the story that has been set up since the first film in this new rebooted franchise. However, the final third fails to be original, instead blatantly ripping off plot points from a certain other famous Star Trek adventure(no spoilers here, sorry). Overall, the film is pretty intelligent, much more than most sci-fi nowadays. The video quality is magnificent. Truly a reference disc. Good grain on display, awesome color, and zero banding or macroblocking make this a reference display disc. Unfortunately, the audio is pretty lackluster. It's been filtered and that affects the deeper end of the audio. Very disappointing. Extras are good. Unfortunately, the exclusive extras are not on disc, but through CinemaNow. Just a heads-up. Overall, I definitely recommend this film, flaws and all.

What's great about it: Decent film, video quality is top-rate.
What's not so great: Audio is over-compressed, last third of the film is weak, exclusive content is through streaming.
This movie is hilarious. There is no way anyone can watch this with a straight face. Grab a case of beer, gather your friends, pop this disc in, and get ready for one of the best evenings ever. Technically, the disc has near flawless video and audio. The grainy stock reflects it's low budget '60s origin, and the audio is very dynamic. This movie got a better Blu-ray transfer than the Nolan Batman films.
What's great about it: Hilariously hammy, great video quality, great extras.
As a fan of classic war films, I cannot recommend this. The story is very weak, the cast does a pretty bad job(even though many were veteran actors) and as a whole it's just too long. The transfer is nothing to write home about. The bit rate is too low for a film shot in 70mm, but it doesn't matter much because the actual master is a smeary mess. It looks barely better than a DVD. My recommendation? Get the remastered Patton, Tora! Tora! Tora!, or Lawrence of Arabia Blu-rays if you are looking for some great war films that will make your HDTV shine.
