Upscale Heaven Experiences?
on August 6, 2015

This Double Feature Set of Heaven Can Wait and Defending Your Life appears to touch more on upper class living on earth and having an upper class experience in heaven (more on the explanation in a little bit). This is important because in comparison, the City of Angels and the Michael films (which are also good) focus more on middle class living as it intersects spirituality. For instance, Heaven Can Wait involves a man named Joe Pendleton (Warren Beatty) who unexpectedly dies at a young age and definitely wasn’t emotionally ready to go. It turns out that one of the angels in the heaven’s celestial escort group named Mr. Jordan agreed with him (James Mason) ( because Pendleton’s death date was originally given to be March 20,2025). One of the angels (Buck Henry) had accidently pulled Pendleton’s spirit from his body before he was meant to go. The first part of what gives Heaven Can Wait an upper class feel was that he was at first supposed to board a what looks to be a pristine model airplane in one of the waystations of heaven to his final destination. The other element that gives Heaven Can Wait an opulent feel is the lifestyle that Pendleton is allowed to re-incarnate back into while the celestial life escort groups figures out how to deal with his destiny. Pendleton is allowed to incarnate in the body of a multi-millionaire named Leo Farnsworth who was the target of a murder attempt by his wife Julia Farnsworth (Dyan Cannon) and her lover and one of Farnsworth employees Tony Abbott (Charles Grodin). Pendleton unexpectedly starts to enjoy his new life as Leo Farnsworth and even falls in love with a woman named Betty Logan (Julie Christie). Being the kind spirit he is, Pendleton does not even kick his wife out after the murder attempt. However, the movie does foreshadow what could happen because Pendleton is shown trying to bargain with the angels on extending his life especially now that he wants to be around for Betty Logan and he has discovered a renewed passion for his life after finding and convincing Max Corkle (Jack Warden) to help him get back into the NFL. The only catch is that I did not see any dvd extras associated with Heaven Can Wait although there are audio options in English or French. As for the Defending Your Life, I remember having the good fortune of first discovering and watching this movie in 2014. I caught so much more out of Defending Your Life the second time I watched it and the Defending Your Life Dvd does have some extras (but first my interpretation of the movie). Albert Brooks plays the part of Daniel Miller, a successful Los Angeles ad executive who unexpectedly dies in a car crash after colliding with a bus. Before his surprise death, the movie opened with glimpses of the successful and accomplished life that he was living. Daniel Miller finds himself in a gorgeous sunny afterlife called Judgement City where there is so much to do (golf courses, bowling alleys, comedy clubs) and he could eat the best food and however much he wants damage free to his physical body. He stays inside the Continental Hotel and sees ads in an elevator that I noticed this time, but missed last time such as for the International Planetarium with the slogan the universe as it really is by Dr. Theodore Mcallister with shows at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 (and a picture of what looks to be the space or galaxy of either a shooting comet or shooting star). There is also the ad of the Judgement City’s oldest comedy club one block east of towne center. Daniel Miller’s time in Judgement City is not all leisure because he is called to meet Bob Diamond (Rip Torn) who explains that he has to appear before a panel of judges to determine if he is ready to move on the next phase involving his spiritual development. The panel includes 2 judges (George D. Wallace and Lillian Lehman) and a person named Lena Foster (Lee Grant)who questions Daniel Miller if he overcame his fear enough. In the midst of it all, Daniel Miller unexpectedly falls in love with a self-confident and warm woman named Julia (Meryl Streep). Julia’s time on earth earned her a stay at the Majestic Hotel. She too has to go through the judgement chambers, but seems to easily be more relaxed about whatever happens. The develop a mutual romantic attraction to each other and have a chance to spend some time together. One of my favorite parts of the movie was where they got together on one of the buses in Judgement city after their shared time at the Past lives pavilion. One of Daniel Millers past lives as a dressmaker intersected with one of Julia’s lives as a tailor (played with the idea in a fun way on how who you spend your future lives traces very much to both recent and/or past lives). I also like the scene where it was described really well on what their idea of overcoming fear is (in a scene where Daniel Miller meant to ask his boss for at least $65,000 per year but accepted $49,000 instead). Additionally, the scene where Miller passed up an investment opportunity in casio watches that could have turned his ten thousand dollars into at least 37 million dollars unexpectedly made me think of maybe the connection between my life and the things that I may have been unconsciously investing in. There is so much more I got out of this movie just after the second time of seeing it (and I’m glad to been able to finally buy it), but I intuitively and logically feel that it is time to move on to the bonuses; An image featuring the Judgement City Bowling Lane (the slogan of come bowl with us you’ll have a ball with 36 lanes open for 24 hours) the cast and crew listing to Defending Your life, and subtitles available in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, there are also various celebrity cameo appearances attributed to this film; Shirley Maclaine, James Eckhouse, Buck Henry, Glen Chin etc. Each of the movies (Heaven Can Wait and Defending Your Life) have their own disc (which culminates in a two disc set).

Global DJs-The Las Vegas Sessions is a three cd set of 20 songs on each cd. What I like the most about this collection is the diversity of hits from both recent time periods and songs that came out a few years ago. For example, there is the inclusion of Don’t You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia (that came out in 2012) and a Dirty Talk by Wynter Gordon that came out in February 2010. There are then various songs that came out around the 2013 and 2014 time period such as features of Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Rey feat. & Cedric Gervais, Addicted To You by Avicii, Wizard by Martin Garrix & Jay Hardaway, Red Lights by Tiesto, This is What it Feels Like by Armin Van Burren & Trevor Guthrie, If I Lose Myself by One Republic & Alesso, Starlight (Could You Be Mine) by Matt Diablo &Matt Nash, I Got U by Duke Dumont feat. Jax Jones, and many more musicians/songs.

Musical Inspiration For The Songs Featured In The

I admit that I became interested in purchasing in this collection of Gold Greatest Hits by Abba after watching the Mama Mia movie with my husband around August 2009 (when we were living in Orlando, Florida). There are multiple good songs in this collection that are played during the Mamma Mia movie and are also featured on this cd such as Lay All Your Love On Me, Does Your Mother Know, Dancing Queen, and more.

No Children?

Tricked; A Shocking Look Inside America’s Human Trafficking Trade caught my interest due to me just wanting to be curious on why my late biological mother got caught up and seemingly stuck in what appears to be a dangerous profession. I must preface by making it clear that I do not have an interest in ever working in this field regardless of whether the this trade was made legal or stayed illegal(attributed in part to how my adoptive parents raised me). The informative parts of this documentary; Law enforcement officials were interviewed in this documentary, a caseworker, various former escort workers that are super young that seemingly escaped from the field, and some men who control the women are interviewed. Some of the following facts of this documentary; Many girls are forced into streetwalking around age 12, one featured in the documentary was as young as 11 years old. A caseworker was featured who was trying to help a 14 year old and her baby, but he was told that he and his wife were technically not allowed to help her out. At the end of the documentary, it is listed that she actually lost custody of her baby and was missing. Some other people featured; Dr. Shera Bradley a psychologist, Cindy a former Las Vegas escort, Mitch Morissey a Denver District Attorney, Hugh- a john, and Nikolas Kristoff a journalist. Then there is the discussion of what is called ‘A Players Ball’ that is held in Chicago where supposedly pimps and their girls get dressed in scantily clad clothing. There is also a scene of footage in Las Vegas Nevada and some Las vegas bar named the Chandelier. As per Karen Hughes of the Las Vegas Police-Las Vegas Nevada is a top destination for the streetwalking field because of the glamour scene of Las Vegas and the amount of financial wealth that flows around. The other informative angle was that many of the young wprlers featured bravely recounted what they endured and what happened along the way before they escaped. However, my caveat with this film, there were not much workers featured who have kids (when it is common knowledge that many are mothers whose young children are at risk of being forced targets of their mother’s clients and/or lovers). Additionally, the documentary could have been made stronger by also featuring women who were in their 30’s,40’s,50’s and maybe beyond. Last, but not least, there were not men or transgendered people featured in this documentary and it is also common knowledge that females, males, and transgendered people are also at risk of suffering greatly in what is currently a dangerous profession across the United States (due to the common knowledge that what the men, women, and.or transgendered people in this risky field are doing is illegal in most parts of the United States). I’m reluctant to share my viewpoint because I already know that it most likely may not happen during my lifetime if ever, but after watching this documentary I do feel that the crimes involved with this risky profession may decrease if this industry is made legal across the United States (with the stipulations that they are at least 17 or 18 years of age, that they are paid a minimum wage with taxes based on income and other rules necessary to make the profession safer). The reason for my viewpoint-more people would feel safe coming forward to law officials to report if they are being harmed by either their johns and/or their violent bosses and the money that is taxed from this dangerous field can be used for greater good such as job retraining programs for those who are truly ready to leave the field and want to get into a more legitimate career and/or job that is a guaranteed employment vehicle to where they do not have to sell their body, safe childcare for children of these workers etc. I must avoid explaining more because this is not the forum for me to do so.

Grammy 2015 Nominees CD has 21 songs ranging from various music styles of songs that came out in 2013 era (Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus, Dark Horse by Katy Perry feat. Juicy J. and Drunk In Love by Beyonce feat. Jay Z)and throughout 2014 (such as Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off, Sing by Ed Sheeran, A Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay, Somethin Bad by Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert, Happy by Pharell, Take Me To Church by Hozier, Meanwhile Back At Mamas by Tim McGraw, Faith Hill etc and more artists featured). I confess that it is hard for me to pinpoint my most favorite songs within this Grammy Awards compilation because I actually find multiple enjoyable songs from this cd. Plus, the 2015 Grammy Nominees Cd is now one of my favorite Grammy cd compilations since the 2001 Grammy Pop Nominees collection (released February 6, 2001 and I purchasedthe 2001 Grammy Pop Nominees cd when I was still living in Japan). A code is provided to those who purchase a new edition of the Grammy 2015 Nominees cd for entering in the contest to win A VIP trip to the 58th Grammy Awards in 2016. However, I do feel fine (with his permission) and certain sharing that my husband’s two favorite songs from the 2015 Grammy Nominees cd are All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor and Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus.

Ibiza Music Mix of Vocal-Free and Vocal Tunes

Ministry of Sound; Clubbers Guide Ibiza 08 (2008) is a two cd set of songs by various artists ranging from lounge music, dance, and electronic music. The first cd has 20 songs and is mixed by what appears to be a DJ named Plastik Funk and disc two has 18 songs is mixed by a DJ named KneeDeep. The only caveat is that there are a high number of songs on this cd that are more music than vocals. However, the songs with vocals on the cd to add to a party festive mood such as with Acceptable In The 80’s by Calvin Harris and Big Fun by Kevin Saunderson feat. Inner City (Simian Mobile Disco Remix). The booklet to the Ministry of Sound Clubbers Guide Ibiza 08 has a female pictured with long dark brown hair in what looks to be a silver diamond encrusted bikini and silver diamond boots. The inside of the booklet has pictures of people partying it up and having a good time, including nightlife on the beach and nightlife in what appears to be a bustling city and/or town. The words look to be in Spanish, but there is even a listing of what appears to be clubs, restaurants, and other places to go to around the Ibiza area.

Celestial Miracles

This double feature dvd set of City Of Angels and Michael are definitely films that help bring an exuberant movie. The City of Angels movie is on one side of the disc while Michael is on the second disc. The City of Angels stars Nicholas Cage as an angel named Seth and he is shown helping a young female child cross over to the next world as her mother understandably grieves at what his happening (with the mother being unaware). Seth speaks with angel Cassiel (Andre Braugher) about his feelings and curiosity on what it may feel like to experience human life. The angel Cassiel listens with love and compassion for Seth, but is careful to avoid telling Seth what to do when he meets and falls very much in love with Meg Ryan (Maggie Rice). Seth begins to entertain the idea of trying to live as a human when he meets a man named Nathaniel Messinger (Dennis Franz) who explains why he is able to easily see Seth and other members of the heavenly realms. Messinger then also mentions about the people in his life that he wanted to mention this to but really can’t such as his family members (played by Robin Bartlett and Joanna Merlin).Complicating matters to this equation is that Maggie Rice is also romantically with Jordan Ferris (Colm Feore). Dr. Rice also begins to question her role and place in the world after a patient that she tried to save died despite her best efforts to prolong his life. The movie Michael stars John Travolta as Archangel Michael who is sent to help certain people fulfill part of their destinies. Tabloid emmployees Frank Quinlan (William Hurt), Huey Driscoll (Robert Pastorelli), and Dorothy Winters (Andie MacDowell) are joined together through a job assignment to Iowa that is spearheaded by their boss Vartan Malt (the late Bob Hoskins). They arrive to Iowa and are greeted by a woman named Pansy Milbank (the late Jean Stapleton) who is actually harboring Archangel Micheal (John Travolta) as she said that she is/ However, at the least, Dorothy Wiinters is one of the first to initially express skepticism despite his wings because Michael expresses affinities for things that appear to not be attributed to celestial beings on an earth vacation such as smoking, the way he talks etc. Apparently, Michael has the gift of also getting them out of trouble after a bar fight. This is due to a scene where he and his new entourage are summoned to court after the brawl and their fate is decided by Judge Esther Newburg (Terri Garr). The scene illustrates how Michael is able to use his charms. However, there is a scene where he tells Dorothy Winters that she is not charmed by him because he put a spiritual block on her that prevents it from happening. There is so much more to both of these delightful movies, yet I prefer to now go into some of the extras listed to both of these dvds; 2 commentaries of the City of Angels movie, one from the director and the other from the screenwriters, scene specific commentaries by the cinematographer and production designer, making of and visual effects documentaries, additional scenes, interviews with Alannis Morrisette and Peter Gabriel, music videos by the GooGoo Dolls and U2, Music Only Track with Gabriel Yared commentary, theatrical trailer gallery. For the Micheal dvd are these listed bonuses; full-screen version, production notes, and the Michael movie trailier. Some of the things that I enjoyed about the bonuses from this double feature of City of Angels (Side A) and Michael Side B; A feature of other movies that contain references to heaven and angels such as Wings of Desire, Faraway So Close, Angels In The Outfield (1954), 1994 version of Angels In The Outfield, A Guy named Joe (1944), Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941). Heaven Can Wait (the 1978 version is mentioned in the bonus but there is also an earlier version of Heaven Can Wait from 1943. Here Comes Jordan (1944) and Steven Spielberg’s Always (1989)movie are also mentioned in the bonuses. Of course, there are also more angel/heaven movie references featured in the bonuses. The bonuses also include some information on the actors and actresses attributed to both movies. There is also some career details on the screenwriters. For instance, Delia Ephron and her sister Nora Ephron worked closely together for the Michael movie (credits include Nora Ephron as an associate for the Sleepless In Seattle movie and a written novel called Hanging Up in 1996, which was listed to have gotten rave reviews. The song Spirit In The Sky by Norman Greenbaum was featured in the movie trailer extra for the double feature set of Michael and City of Angels (of course there are more details included in the bonus that could take up the span of another review).
