Danger Intrigue Adventure
on May 12, 2015

My husband is actually the reason why we both decided to watch Vikings Season 1 together (so far we have watched up to Season 2 espisode 2). I had actually had this show as one of the ones I’m following in my tumblr feed and recently took my husband up on his offer to watch it with me (we are both open-minded about what each other watches, but there are certain shows I watch on my own and there are ones he watches on his own). However, this is one show that we both can agree on because of the adventure, intrigue, and the element of always leaving the viewer to guess what is going to happen. The show centers around the character of Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), his friend Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard),Ragnar’s wife Lagertha (Kateryn Winnick), and his brother Rollo (Clive Standen). Ragnar has an understandable aggressive streak essential for this survivor. However, he also has a large heart of gold hidden beneath his tough exterior for his wife Lagertha, their children Bjorn (Nathan O’ Toole) and Gyda (Ruby O’ Leary), his brother Rollo, and a strong kinship with his friend Floki. Ragnar has an overriding goal to conquer lands beyond his own homeland. As naturally expected, both Ragnar and those closest to them experience various detours along the way towards their objective of expanding their lands. I want to say more, however I am concerned of providing too many spoilers for those who have yet to see the Viking series. Normally, I mention who my favorite characters of the show are yet I feel guided to discuss just my husband’s favorite characters for this show. My husband sees the good in various characters portrayed within the episodes of the Viking series that we have seen so far. However, my husband admitted that Ragnar and Floki are two of his favorite characters of the Viking series. He likes Ragnar because there is a sense of calm and confidence about him unless the lives of those closest to him are danger (including members of his community). I think that my husband also admired the character portrayal shown on how Ragnar could separate how he has to be in battle while carefully retaining his soul and sense of feeling for his wife, children, his brother, and his allies (including Floki). My husband also admired the character of Floki because of his assured and energetic spirit as well as how he helps out Ragnar and his wife regardless of what is in it for him.. For instance, I noticed that my husband mentioned how Floki was also one of his favorite characters when there was a scene where Floki chose to help out Ragnar and his wife even with being uncertain as to where and when he would get his next food stores (there is a scene where Lagertha expresses concern at Floki generously sharing what was left of the last of his essential food for the winter). However, even with no guarantee of a positive or negative outcome, Floki’s character is seen expressing to Lagertha that she and her husband Ragnar have no reason to fear as he trusts that he will still somehow be provided for.

American Grit
on May 12, 2015

I actually was able to watch American Hustle after I had recently rented it from Redbox. American Hustle opens with the characters of Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams), Richie De Maso (Bradley Cooper), and Mayor Carmine Polito (Jeremy Renner) appearing to be in the midst of finalizing a deal. Rosenfeld, Prosser, and De Masio are actually working together towards what is supposed to be mutual professional understanding. Rosenfeld and Prosser are in love with each other. However, Rosenfeld also has a wife Rosalyn Rosenfeld (Jennifer Lawrence) and kids at home that he also has to take into consideration. What complicates matters is that De Maso also appears to be taking romantic interest in Prosser. Irving Rosenfeld’s wife Rosalyn Rosenfeld is somewhat aware of her husband’s life, but the movie portrays that that is still so much she is unaware about. Bradley Cooper plays the integral role of an FBI agent who is orchestrating the talents of Sydney Prosser an Irving Rosenfeld due to their cunning ability to be professional con artists. Jeremy Renner plays a New Jersey mayor who is also caught in the web that is being weaved around a professional deal that is ‘supposed’ to hold potential towards generating enormous profit.

Stone Temples Midwest Concert
on April 30, 2015

I admit that I purchased this Stone Temple pilots dvd of Stone Temple Pilots Alive In The Windy City on April 9, 2015. However, I have previously been familiar with the music of Stone Temple Pilots for quite some time due to the fact that a family member generously gifted me with the Tiny Music Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop by Stone Temple Pilots around the time I was 16 years old. Additionally, the alternative rock station I frequently listened to from the time I was around 14 until I was 19 (radio station Q101 that was based out of Chicago, Illinois until I moved away after enlisting in the U.S. navy in 2000)often played various songs by Stone Temple Pilots. I even purchased and reviewed the Thank You cd on September 13, 2009 after coming across STP greatest hits compilation in a local Orlando Florida library a couple miles from the University of Central Florida (I left the review on the Amazon UK website). Purchasing this dvd is well worth is because the band’s music harmonizes well with Scot Weiland’s vocals in the concert performance. With this said, I also enjoy music by Linkin Park and have even purchased their recent Hunting Party cd at my job over six months ago. I’m well aware I may get some unhelpful votes for this because it is not a popular sentiment. However, using the name of Stone Temple Pilots without Scott Weiland’s powerful music vocals is akin to taking Mike Shinoda or Chester Bennington out of Linkin Park and still calling them Linkin Park. Back to the dvd set, many of the classic hits by Stone Temple Pilots are included on this dvd; Vasoline, Wicked Garden, Big Empty, Sour Girl, Creep, Plush, Interstate Love Song etc. (18 songs). My favorite songs cd wise from Stone Temple Pilots are Wicked Garden, Plush, and Vaseline. The band gave their best unified performance in this dvd concert edition and I would have to say that these were some of my favorite performances concert wise even though the songs have a melancholy tune; Sour Girl, Interstate Love Song, Dead and Bloated, and Trippin On A Hole In a Paper Heart (which is also the closing song on the concert dvd). There is also a bonus feature of an interview with STP.

More Than Ten Things To Like About This Movie
on April 30, 2015

For some reason, I felt drawn to this movie even though I obviously graduated from high school quite some time ago (class of 2000). There are multiple celebrities attached to this film (information available online from both wiki and the Internet movie database) and the movie centers around a popular and charismatic female named Bianca Stratford (Larisa Oleynik, I remember here from the Alex Mack episodes I watched as a teenager) who is sought after by Cameron James (Joseph Gordon Levitt) and an equally popular and wealthy student named Joey Donner (Andrew Keegan). Bianca’s sister Kat ends up getting drawn into this soap opera and is chased after a fellow student named Patrick Verona (the late acclaimed Heath Ledger) thanks to the calculated string pulling by Cameron James, his friend Michael Eckman (David Krumholtz) and Joey Donner. Gabrielle Union and Allison Janney are also some of the multiple celebrities featured in this film that I also recognized (online sources credit being the Mary Jane tv series to Union and Janney to the Masters tv series). The dvd comes with the following movie trailers; When In Rome, Extract, and 10 Things I Hate About You tv series. This dvd feature film also includes the other listed bonus features; 10 Things I Hate About You 10 Years Later, Exclusive Footage, and Filmmaker as well as Cast Audio commentary. Some of the multiple things I loved about this movie 10 Things I Hate About You; The indie rock music featured in the film that the character of Kat (Julie Stiles) is seen enjoying, the various fun songs featured in this film (Push It by Salt N Pepa, Hold Me Now song by Thompson Twins, Sexy Boy by Air etc), and a compelling quote by that Heath Ledger’s Veronica character is seen quoting in the film. The motivational and memorable quote referenced in this movie is “Don’t Let Anyone Make You Feel Like You Don’t Deserve What You Want.” I say this because I truly feel that this insightful quote can apply to various aims in a person’s life (career goals, where a person wants to live, other personal goals etc.) even though the Verona character (Heath Ledger) was actually saying this as encouragement to Cameron James . Last, but not least, the various Shakespeare references unexpectedly encouraged me to look into attending some plays/theater in the future (fortunately, I figured out how I can attend at least one play every 3-4 months at a minimum). Overall, these are some of the various reasons why I found the five dollar purchase of 10 Things I Hate About You to be a bargain for an uplifting and heartwarming movie.

Unique Music Heartbeat

I admit that I purchased this super deluxe edition of Rebel Heart Madonna due to my strong interest and passion for Madonna’s music (Madonna’s hard candy cd is actually my first ever online review, back in June 2008). Additionally, I first started to purchase her music around the time I was 14 years old. Anyhow, there is a strong range of music to enjoy on this super deluxe edition of Rebel heart by Madonna whether you are a fan or a novice to her purchasing her music. Disc one has 19 songs on the first cd and contain a blend of pop, electronica, euro-dance, and R&B. Disco two is a music continuation of that music blend with 6 songs. There are songs that will appeal to men and women from various walks of life due to the range of life themes inherent in the songs such as track 6; Unapologetic B (for heartbreak) and track 8 Joan of Arc (to express the happy and more optimistic side of life). I’m more than aware that even among Madonna fans, the listed favorite songs are going to contrast depending on the person. My current favorite songs on this Super deluxe edition of Rebel Heart by Madonna are; Ghosttown, Devil Pray, Iconic (featuring Chance the Rapper & Mike Tyson), and Messiah. However, regardless of whether you are a fan or new to buying Madonna’s music, Rebel Heart by Madonna is perfect for those who have an eclectic taste in music involving pop, dance, electronica, R&B, and/or for those who just want to hear versatile music.

Undercover College Woman

I unexpectedly came across the So Undercover movie and was glad to have done so. The character of Molly Morris/Brook Stonebridge (Miley Cyrus) greatly enjoys her job as a private investigator. Molly Morris professionally works alongside her father Sam Morris (Mike O’ Malley) and the movie shows how evident it is that they have a healthy and strong father and daughter connection. However, even Morris’s close connection with her father does not prepare her for an accidental meeting with Armon Ranford (Jeremy Priven). Armon Ranford is aware of Molly Morris’s talent and intends to recruit her for an important project involving a sorority consisting of multiple wealthy sorority females at a popular college somewhere in the American south. In order to conduct her mission discreetly, Molly Morris is encouraged to pose as an undercover student transferring from the University of Hawaii. I admit that I would be receptive to the idea of seeing Miley Cyrus in future films.

Steamy and Smoldering Music Selections

After hearing the compelling song of Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding on youtube, I became interested in purchasing The Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack (which I did on January 30, 2015). There are multiple appealing songs on this Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack that combine the music sensibilities of Electronica, Jazz, Chillout, pop etc. Please know that there are other songs on this cd that I do enjoy listening to (such as the renditions of Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding, Beyonce’s Haunted, and Salted Wound by Sia). However, I have to admit that my current favorites from this Fifty Shades of Grey movie soundtrack would be “I Put A Spell On You” by Annie Lennox and “One Last Night” by Vaults. This Fifty Shades of Grey movie soundtrack is perfect for those who have an eclectic taste in music that has subtle love affair themes.

Music Variation That Blends Well Together

Now That’s What I Call Movies cd is another pre-order selection that I bought on January 30, 2015. I ordered this cd due to some of my passions involving music and movies. Additionally, I pre-ordered Now That’s What I Call Movies because I have purchased and still continue to enjoy Now music compilations (various editions from both the United States and United Kingdom). There is an eclectic mix of music on this edition of Now That’s What I Call movies (artists featuring Bruno Mars For Twilight, Bruce Springsteen For Streets of Philadelphia, Celine Dion for Titanic, Phil Collins For Against All Odds, rendition of Almost Paradise by Mike Reno feat. Ann Wilson for Footloose, artist Seal for Batman Forever, Elton John, Anna Kendrick etc.). My husband’s current favorite song is Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen while my current favorites from Now That’s What I Call Movies are Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor (for the Rocky III movie), Happy by Pharrell Williams (for the Despicable Me 2 film), and Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins (for the Top Gun movie). From the wide diversity and music styles (soft rock, rock, pop, dance, country etc) of the artists/groups/musicians mentioned, one can infer that Now That’s What I Call Movies is a collection that is suitable for men and women who have a variety of musical preferences/tastes.

Action Pack Movie Set
on January 25, 2015
Posted by: wisdomseeker
from Hyattsville Maryland
Either this past Friday night (January 16) or Saturday night (January 17) was when I purchased this 17 movie set on four dvds for just five dollars. My husband thinks it might have more likely been this past Friday night (January 16th). The front of the dvd cover includes a photo of Kiefer Sutherland and the back of the dvd photo includes Keanu Reeves and Dolph Lundgren. I admit that I did not have time to watch all the movies yet. However, I intend to update this review by March 2015 on a longer review for all 17 of the movies. So far, I have only watched CIA II; Target Alexa (starring Lorenzo Llamas, Kathleen Kinmont, and Jon Savage). In CIA II the character of Mark Graver (Lorenzo Lamas) teams up with Alexa (Kathleen Kinmount) to take care of some unfinished business involving Franz Kluge (John Salvage). Kluge is a very dangerous man, especially because his female partner in crime is just as violent, if not more so than he is. What complicates matters is the fact that Alexa and Kluge are strongly linked because Alexa became pregnant by Kluge and had a daughter named Tanya. However, the catch to the dvd set is that none of the three men on the dvd cover (Kiefer Sutherland, Keanu Reeves, and Dolph Lundgren) are not necessarily in every movie featured such as CIA II. The following are the other 16 movies listed for those who understandably would like to decide before March on whether or not to get this 17 movie dvd set; 1-Brotherhood of Justice, Black Jack, Choke, The Contract, Crosshairs, Alone In The Neon Jungle, South Bronx Heroes, Zero Tolerance, Tunnel Vision, Spenser; Pale Kings & Princes, Nightmare At Bittercreek, The Fall, Crash Landing, Burning Daylight, Running Red, and Second Story Man.

The first season of this popular and heartwarming television series has been given a dignified presence on DVD. Touched By An Angel: The Complete First Season has been transferred to disc in its original full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo; viewers have the choice of the original English-language soundtrack or a dubbed version in Spanish, with no subtitles included. Bonus materials include two interviews with executive producer Martha Williamson (one with Ed Bradley for 60 Minutes), commentary tracks for four episodes, and more.

Touched by An Angel; The Complete First Season On Dvd comes in a set that has four dvd holders. I also like that each dvd cover has a title and description of each episode. Of course, there are also pictures on each of the dvd covers. For instance, the first dvd which has a red color background and photo scenes from each episode are The Southbound Bus, Show Me the Way Home, Tough love, and Fallen Angela. There are 13 Episodes produced for Season one and a two part series finale (as listed on the back). The special features of the dvd set are: an extended version of executive producer Martha williamson’s 60 minute interview with Ed Bradley, Martha Williamson talks about Touched By an Angel, Touched by an Angel Says Farewell, and four audio commentaries on the Southbound Bus, Tough love, Fear not and There, and There But for the Grace of God. There is also the option of a full screen format, English stereo, and Spanish stereo. I plan to eventually purchase the boxed version of all of the Touched By An Angel series sets.
