Makes us afraid to go Back into the water

The Reef was slow in the beginning and really didn't pick up until the last 40 minutes or so but it was still quite good, one reason for me was because Damian Walshe-Howling is so hot and easy to look at.. the acting was very believable from all the actors but I couldn't take my eyes off of Howling.
This movie was 20 times more nerve racking and tense than Open Water or any other shark film. Reasons being besides the fact that the camera angles were brilliant but The story also made you care about some of the characters so when they were in danger you felt like you were being terrorized as well.
All said and done a great addition to the what lurks beneath genre.
What's great about it: amazing film
What's not so great: nothing

Fresh take on a much used Idea

Wake wood was a delightful surprise for me.
It was not original but the cinematography, acting and feel of the film made it seem fresh.
It got straight to the point and went to the guts from there.
There was quite a bit of blood and some gore which I didn't expect but loved.
it was very well cast and it really did have that old Hammer feel to it.
The story was well crafted and executed and the only thing I can say as a minor negative would be that there is no explanation given as to why, how or when Wake wood came to be.
I was very intrigued and satisfied with this endeavor and highly recommend it.
What's great about it: great movie

The Best Revenge Flick since Death Wish

I Saw The Devil was Beautifully shot.Gory yet not gratuitously so,every scene was essential to the film.I am in love with this movie.
Byung-hun Lee and Min-sik Choi are amazing in there roles.
I don't want to say too much because before I watched it I read a long drawn out analytical review and it hindered my viewing a bit.
Bottom line, 'I saw The Devil' is a cleverly written, heart pounding yet heart tugging revenge thriller that takes everything a step further as the two men involved try and one up each other. The climax is one you soon will not forget,Brilliant in every way possible.

Fantastic release of a classic slasher

The Dorm that Dripped Blood also known as Pranks is a cookie cutter slasher from the early 80's, 1982 to be exact. It doesn't offer us anything new or special.
It's cheese appeal isn't even that sticky. That being said I still like this movie because It's a retro Slasher flick and I love retro slashers,I love everything about them, the formula, the cliches. One of the cliches being the last girl standing battling it out with the maniac in a cat and mouse, life and death power struggle, this is a staple in most of the post Halloween slashers and this one is no exception. The lead actress is probably the most unattractive heroine in Slasher film history..(Laurie Lipinski).. "forgive me,if you read this"..This Blue Ray/DVD combo is the unrated version so it is quite a bit better than "Pranks" which is the same film with a different title,it was released on DVD in 2003.
There are a few good kills in this version but the acting left quite a bit to be desired. It was after all Developed by a group of UCLA students on a ridiculously small budget..I'm sure Daphne Zuniga of Melrose Place and 'The Initiation' winces every time she thinks about her role in this movie,She only has about 10 minutes of camera time.
If you're a Die hard retro slasher lover pick it up because again it's everything we have come to love and expect from our stalk and slash fests. There is supposed to be footage in this that wasn't included in the original VHS version..So that's a big plus.I'm buying this when it hits the shelf.
What's great about it: Extras.. a slasher lover should have it it their collection
What's not so great: not very original, but that's what the retro slashers are about..being formulaic

Creepy and Unique

First I have to say that I wasn't bored while watching "Plague Town" it held my interest and had some very creepy, scary moments in it.
It was reminiscent of "Wicked Little Things "from the first batch of 8 films to die for.
"Plague Town" was somewhat original but it's not like kids haven't been used many times in the past to frighten or shock audiences, a few good examples being "The Bad Seed","The Good Son" and "Who Can Kill a Child",It's the brutality and shock value of using something that personifies innocence, hope and goodness that gives shock value to a film like this and others that portray children as "monsters".
The film used very dim lighting in places and that didn't really bother me because it lent to the dark feel of the film. There were quite a few grisly scenes but they let you see just enough to let you know what happened and just enough to let you're imagination run wild as well.
The character of Rosemary was particularly creepy and well played. Her bug eyed look very disturbing.
all in all I would recommend it to a horror slasher fan.
It's interesting and somewhat unique but I still like "The Children" better as far as killer kid flicks go.
What's great about it: Priced low
What's not so great: the extras
