If you thought, "hey, I liked the first movie, lets check this one out." That won't be the case. All the actors try way too hard in this one.

Being a nostalgic fan of the original movie, I had some skeptical expectations. I'm glad to say I was wrong. While this version is a very different movie than the original (from the perspective of plot), one can still see a kindred heart and spirit between two. The gun fights are unabashedly classic, old school Western - dead eye aim, shooting from the hip, two-gun slinging, kill ratios way in favor of the heroes. The character archetypes are similar to the original film, bigger than life and equally flawed...though wryly I cannot help but note the film's attempt to cast actors that try to cram every viewer demographic the producers thought they could get away with. The dialogue was pretty decent, though I seriously doubt that any self respectin' oater would ever use the word "statistically" in any of its sentences (eh, but the line worked as a humorous moment in the scene). Denzel hit the right notes as the implacable gunslinger with a painful past. Pratt played his usual brand of laconic humor hiding a soul seeking a meaning for existence. Both characters worked well together throughout the film. In the end, the good guys win, but at a huge cost, in the best tradition of the Seven Samurai (upon which the original movie was based): the heroes die like cowboys with guns blazing, willing themselves up with each mortal wound, and taking a whole mess of bad guys with them. My only one gripe is that the score should have used more of the original music, rather than saving it for the end credits. The big full orchestral sounds of Elmer Bernstein's original theme music gave an epic accompaniment to an epic film. In this version, James Horner did not quite match the grandeur. That said, this movie was very fun to watch. Don't think of this film as a "remake" or a "reboot" of the original. Think of it as a descendant sharing the original's lineage.

This movie is SO great! I read the reviews and I'm shocked at how many people didn't like it. I am a huge fan of the original Ghostbusters and I think it was a great idea to do a new one. The visuals in this movie were terrific and the actors were even better. I was expecting to like this movie, but I also didn't have too high of expectations. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it, it was very funny and entertaining. I would highly recommend for everyone to give it a try. Kate McKinnon was my fav, I don't really know her from many movies but she was amazing in this one!

The creep factor continues....
This was a very creep and imaginative retelling of a haunting investigated by the Warrens that took place in England during the seventies.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga have excellent chemistry and are exciting to watch. There are a lot of tense moments.
The special effects add to the creepy factor. Director James Wan has found his niche in the horror movie genre.
I recommend this film to fans of ghost stories and paranormal horror films.
In sum, great cast, great scares and great pacing make this a great horror film.

The soundtrack to "The Light Between Oceans" is great. This is another great soundtrack / score from Alexandre Desplat. It is well-done, well-crafted and solidly entertaining. All (19) tracks on here are great.

If you liked the first one, you'll like this one

A sequel can never be the original, and rarely are they as good as the original as they are frequently made just to capitalize on the success of the first film. Here we have the same characters (minus Isla Fisher as Henley Reeves) from the first film doing what they, as the Horsemen, do. As we expect, their productions are elaborate, their illusions are grand, and their adventure is filled with twists that actually bring even more satisfaction to the original by adding another layer to a story that you thought you already knew. Also, the addition of Lizzy Caplan as Lula May was a bonus. Caplan is funny and delivers a performance that seems very natural for her. If they make another one it would be a mistake to not include Caplan. Ultimately, as a sequel, Now You See Me 2 delivers what one wants to see in a sequel and it does it with the right dose of humor, action, and adventure, and the ending is reasonably satisfying.

A Film as Beautiful as the Story

Fantastic movie. Even though I grew up reading Jungle Book as a kid and I knew what was going to happen, I was at the edge of my seat. The story is quite simple with Mowgli (Neel Sethi who is brilliant) who has been living with the wolves since he was a baby is cast out of the pack in fear and mistrust. With the help of his faithful friend Bagheera (Ben Kingsley) he begins to make his way to the man- village. However, Bagheera and the tiger Shere Khan (Idris Elba, wonderfully menacing) clash, Mowgli has to fend for himself. He then meets Baloo (Bill Murray) and they have a series of adventures together.The story is beautifully told and covers complicated topics like not fitting in,the importance of your pack staying together. One of my favorite moments of the film is where Bagheera and Baloo have validation that Mowgli is different and that taking him to the village may have him lose that. The movie is most definitely not one for small children, having some very tense scenes. I really felt that Jon Favreau has done a fantastic job of bringing one of my favorite childhood novels to life. The animals which I know are all CGI look superbly real.
I would recommend this movie to anyone who has read jungle book.
