First of all ARRIS is the same brand used by Spectrum here in Central Florida, so appearance wise it's like looking at a familiar face. But with a few differences.
Let me say that the quality and reliability are excellent. Set up is a breeze BUT remember to call Spectrum and let them know you are swapping out routers. A minor inconvenience but you won't get anywhere unless you do this first. I don't know if that's the same for other providers or not. I can only review what I know first hand.
OK these are 2 differences between the SURFBOARD SBG7400 AC2 and your rental.
1- No battery backup
2- if you use VOIP no joy.
2- if you use VOIP no joy.
I found the first a minor inconvenience but the second a deal breaker for me.
However, if your cable isn't your land-line provider, I'd jump on this unit. It's well made and leaves plenty of headroom for growth.

I have wanted security cameras since some jerk plowed into my parked car last summer, so when this system became available I was excited. 4k, 8 channel all inclusive package seemed like a winner to me. Although technically competent I hired a security pro to plan the best locations and do the install. Since I have a townhouse with an enclosed patio, we decided on 3 cameras outside (2 covering the patio and front door, 1 covering my car in the parking lot) and the final camera in the corner of my living room. The install took all of an hour, but then the fun began. TWEAKING! I love tweaking. As other very savvy reviewers have said, 1080p is the default, but through the app, available on Google Playstore, 4k is a piece of cake, as are other settings. The hardware is very good for this price range. The camera quality is good and I can easily read license plates. Only downside for me is not being able to rotate the camera. Other than that, I'm satisfied, and feel safer. I even saved a few bucks on my home owners insurance. That was an unexpected perk so check w your agent. Cheers, paul

What's Security Worth to You

That's the question everyone should be asking themselves. If you think you're safe, you're wrong.
It's a brave new world out there filled with a lot of good information, but also filled with scum who do nothing but troll for unprotected users. A misnomer is that if you have virus protection that's good enough. WRONG!! I mentioned this because a few people I spoke with thought they were protected well enough.
As the times change so does what we the end user must do to protect our privacy. I've read some extremely articulate reviews, so I will keep mine simple.
Super easy to set up on my androids and home computer. A large selection of servers and set up options.
BUT..... there's always a but or two isn't there? To do banking at home, I had to suspend service. That kind of defeated the purpose somewhat. The same was true with a lawful streaming service I belong to. Changing servers helped that issue however.
You'll notice 3 stars. That was due to the cost, and not the service. A smart consumer might be able to find the same service at a reduced price. Due diligence is a wonderful thing.

It's a tank

The first thing that got my attention was the weight and size. This thing is a tank. It's large, bulky and heavy.
On the plus side, the screen is great for streaming videos. Bright and clear. Enough memory and processing power to handle any entertainment or light business needs.
A plus and negative is the fact that you can flip from keyboard to tablet. The plus is obvious, but because of the Acer's size and weight it was difficult to use except when seated. On the move, it's only usable if held vertically and held like a baby.
A smaller version with the same features might be easier for most to handle. Quite honestly for a casual user an android tablet might be a better choice, albeit with an added keyboard more expensive.

These may work for small theater in a box speakers, but if you have speakers of substance (Definitive Technology 9040SR) these are less than worthless.
They are listed as metal. NOT TRUE. These are resin and flimsy. PASS

I purchased generation 3 of Hue lighting for my living room and was delighted with the results, but something was lacking. I needed a little flair behind my tv, so I picked up the Hue Bloom. It was a flawless installation and completed the ambiance I was hoping to achieve, however, that was short lived.
The darn thing only worked for a day and a half. It went dark and never turned back on. Trying to do the right thing I contacted Phillips They told me to download a software package that could solve my problem. Too bad the software had no executable file, so that was worthless. I returned for an exchange.
The next one lasted 2 days before going dark and dead. Contacted Philips and they assured me the newest generation did not have this same issues as previous generations. I sent it back to Philips so lets see how long it take for them to send the replacement.
Sad, that they seemed to have rushed a product to market before it was completely ready for consumer use.

Say hello to GREEN and BLUE. I had the second generation and was ok with them, but it wasn't till I purchased the HUE BLOOM that I realized how much I missed blue and green.
Fortunately, the third generation came out within my exchange time line and for a mere $20 more (I exchanged the starter kit) I have all the rich blues and greens as well as just about any other color.
I had thought these were a gimmick that would be short lived, but I think that I am wrong. This is the next step in the evolution of the automated home. The color variations are wonderful for setting a mood or just being playful. If this is in your budget, consider the HUE series by Phillips for your living space.

Happy Camper, Doing Happy Dance

I have always loved popping off a few photos from time to time, and some people have said that I have a decent eye, so to celebrate my retirement and the freedom to travel a little I thought I would invest in the best gear I could (gulp) afford. I went with the D7200 because it offers just what I want without the price tag of pro gear. As for my lens I went with the 28-300 3.5 .... Yeah I know not cheap, but if you think about it why carry 2 or 3 lenses to do the work of one general purpose heavy hitter?
Anyway, I have included a couple of initial photo's that I shot, I guess this is what could be called my first light with the D7200. I am happy, but the one thing I would like to warn yall about is when you step up in class, you step up in weight! That quickly becomes a non issue, but it took me aback a little at first.
Not the most techie review I know, but have fun, and happy shooting!

Amazing ... BUT

I have been a Samsung user for the last 10 years or so, but after a bad experience where the set had to be repaired 3x in the same calendar year, it was time to explore other options.
I was very impressed in the store at the clarity and detail of this model, however when it was delivered I have to say my enthusiasm waned considerably. I had been used to using certain settings on the menu and sub menus but the picture left me flat.
However with a little experimenting and keeping an open mind, I found picture settings that are nothing less than stunning.
**A HINT** in the ADVANCED MENU, lower the GREEN level 2 clicks, in the darker register for a truly neutral picture. Otherwise everything in the darker registers has a slight, but annoying green pall to it.
The UPCONVERSION of the SONY compared to Samsung is night and day, with the Sony taking even the mediocre signal of Brighthouse and enhancing it beyond what the Samsung in the same price range can offer.
All in all I am content, the integration of my Yamaha / Samsung 4K home theater was a dream to set up and the quality is excellent. I was going to use the Sony 4K Blueray but honestly Samsung still has some features I like so why not have the best of both worlds?
All in all I think my entertainment dollar stretched well with this Sony 4K 3D TV.

Won't Break The Bank ....

When my sisters PROSCAN TV died and couldn't be repaired, BB was gracious enough (through the extended warranty# to allow her the original purchase price to find another TV.* #results may NOT be typical)
After searching in her price bracket we came upon this SHARP for the sale price of $499. After looking at different reviews, both user and professional, my sister settled on this model.
At first I was a little disappointed in the picture quality. The problem turned out to be a cheap HDMI cable, and when replaced with a MONSTER the picture quality went from disappointing to NOT BAD AT ALL!
As for sound. All flat screen sound stinks, from the bargain basement to the penthouse models, the manufacturing dollar goes into to picture quality, and lets face it, sound bars can be had cheaply enough, right?
After installing surround sound, and the afore mentioned HDMI cable, this TV is fine for my sisters needs. She has "SMART" access through her Samsung Blu-ray, so why spend extra go get what she already had?
The BEST part of this deal was that at $499, her Geek Squad Black Tie warranty was only $99 for 5 years! No, I am not kidding. A 50 inch 120Hz, 1080 x 768 HD SHARP flat screen with a 5 year warranty for $600, plus tax. No, that's not chicken feed, the dollar is tight, but in my opinion this is the best entertainment value for the buck.
I would have rated this a little higher, but I love the submenus on my Samsung because it gives me plenty to tweaking power and although there are enough controls to adjust the picture to most peoples taste, I prefer having more toys at my disposal ... I'm a geek, what can I say :)

This cover did not work!!! My son dropped his iPhone in the pool and it is ruined!!! I contacted the company and the only thing they will do id replace the cover!!! So he is going to have to pay 500 dollars to replace his iPhone. Maybe this product works most of the time and he just had a defective one but don't pay 80 bucks for something that may not even work and for sure you should not trust that it will!!!!

I understand your frustration and anger and, forgive me for asking but did you do the one hour submersion test before applying the Lifeproof cover? I didn't think I was going to test mine, assuming that if it is factory fresh it has to be perfect, but I am very glad that I did.
After about 10 minutes I checked my brand new virgin case and lo and behold I noticed a water spot. I pulled it out of my glass checked it, and it was sealed properly, so I called the company who promptly overnight delivered a fresh one, which worked perfectly.
Testing is the key, and once again I am so sorry for your situation. In this economy having to replace an expensive iPhone is an unwelcome expense, but on the bright side there are authorized dealers who can and will repair water damaged phones for a modest price.

We bought this as a replacement for a very expensive model that had quit working and unknown to us had a feature that we were able to connect our Wii to instead of having to connect it directly to the TV. Unfortunately this product was not set up for that and we had to connect the Wii directly into the TV which left me with a cord hanging down my wall while all the others were concealed behind the wall. Had I known I would have opted for a more advanced receiver. other than that we are happy with it.
