Love Kirk, & bought this on a whim. EXCELLENT! 4 cd set collects 8 lp's featured from 1956-1962 and have been digitally remastered for cd, 5 from Kirk and 3 others as a sideman, 1 with Quincy Jones-1 with Tubby Hayes & 1 with Roy Haynes. The cd's are pix disc too. Nice packaging. Check this set out on headphones to blow your mind!

His best album to date. In time will be recognized as a classic. If he never makes another album or if he does and they fail, this is the winner. I got mine at Best Buy for $4.99 the best $$$ I spent.

EXCELLENT DVD/CD SET ON 1 OF REGGAE'S KINGS!

great packaging/great booklet/2 great dvds full of historical info on peter tosh/live concert footage/interviews etc...1 CD of his best know tracks but diff versions so worth it just for the CD if you collect tosh music/only flaw is on the RED X dvd when they did the interviews of both sly dunbar & robbie shakespear they have robbie's name on sly's interview & sly's name on robbie's interview. how did everyone miss that & not fix it? otherwise ALL GREAT.

JOAN IS BACK ON TOP!

A fantastic new collection of songs from Joan! "PROVE YOURSELF" is a rocking rocker with a touch of country music flair to it ala Bob Dylan, George Harrison... Fantastic! "Let's Talk About It" is another well woven creative spark with great acoustic lead & electric guitar soloing by Joan. Her ending electric git solo is ala Jeff Beck! This girl can cut the mustard with any of the high roller git players Clapton, Jeff Beck, Santana etc...
I know this because I'm playing over 35 years myself. SHE CAN ROCK! The song is a splendid blend of melody & lyrics woven into a nice knit basket with a killer GIT SOLO! "Ocean" is another great acoustic song a real throwback to her early '70s songs. Joan has produced a SPLENDID body of songs here with REAL HEART & SOUL. UTTERLY CHARMING! Check out "TENDER TRAP" another tuneful song great melody & GREAT GIT git soloing by Joan! 8 years was a long wait for DIE HARD fans like myself and worldwide fans, but it was WELL WORTH IT! SHE IS TOPS!!!

Gold was originally issued as the same 2 cd set Love & Affection Joan Armatrading Classics 1975-1983 in 2003 by a&m as part of the chronicles series. Remastered & all. In 2005 it was reissued again by a&m universal as part of the Gold collection series. Sames songs & booklet packaging except diff cover art. For some reason a&m again leaves off tracks from her 1st '72 lp Whatever's For Us and 4 of her '80s lp's (Secret Secret's-Shouting Stage-Sleight Of Hand-Hearts & Flowers and from-'90 her last a&m album Square The Circle. Overall all the great songs are here and believe me if you are a fan you know them. If you are a new comer to JA then this is a great large scale retro to begin with. The remastering is good. Maybe a&m will release a follow up of her works from '83-'90 to bridge the gap. I don't know how much control JA has over these a&m releases, any for that matter but 2 mega songs KIND WORDS & TEMPTATION both appeared on her Track Record, Classics & Greatest Hits a&m cd's and both are missing here so this is the downside to this GREAT Set. Get it the best cd retro so far.

A solid Lou Reed collection of 12 tracks from his 1st self titled solo album 1972 (post VU) up to his New Sensations album 1984. This is the Canada Sony/BMG CD issue. The RCA tracks the big ones WALK ON THE WILD SIDE-VICIOUS-CONEY ISLAND BABY are here + I LOVE YOU SUZANNE & GUN rarely found on a Lou Best Of collection + 2 GREAT Arista tracks SHOOTING STAR + TEMPORARY THING make this SOLID. This CD was issued in the USA by Sony/BMG as Platinum & Gold Collection with a diff cover. Both titles issued in 2006. All tracks are remastered. A great intro for any new fan discovering Lou.

I own her 1st CD THE FAME that's all, GREAT! At least 7 tracks stay on program repeat when I play it. . Heard bits & pieces of her other 2 CD's but not enough to draw a like it or leave type opinion. I have this MP3 on my PC as the CD goes to my niece as a XMAS gift. Well, I LOVE IT! 10 stars! It is not a very commercially accessible album/songs for the mass market worldwide. It is very AVANT NON COMMERCIAL ELECTRO TECHNO DANCE POP ROCK FREAK. No wonder it failed in many critics & fan's EARS. VERY EURO sounding not USA sounding at all. I'd love to see LG team up with BOWIE/SPARKS/GRACE JONES/KELIS/ALICE COOPER to name just a few. They are to me ALL IN THE SAME BAG & MIX as artists who REINVENT themselves visually & musically. My fave songs? ARTPOP/AURA/MANICURE/DO WHAT U WANT/VENUS. It's all GOOD STUFF! I see a psycho circus of freaks & midgets flying high & speeding on LSD running & jumping thru hoops of burning fire & flames as this album blasts in the background. As John Lennon said with The Beatles... A SPLENDID TIME IS GUARANTEED FOR ALL!

1 of the GREATEST ROCK & PSYCHEDELIC RECORDS FROM 1969. Musically Tull were clearly building a solid foundation of Progressive FOLK ROCK CLASSICAL JAZZY BLUES etc... On Stand Up. JT would progress musically even further into the ELECTRO SYNTH age years later while updating they're original roots sounds. As for the Stand Up mess up sonically some peak of, IGNORE IT, IT SOUNDS GREAT!

Just got the New SLY STONE CD I'm Back! Family & Friends. I am OVERJOYED! Possibly Sly created a monster album out of a Frankenstein patchwork project and it worked! The 3 unreleased '88-'89 tracks from this period, "Get Away", 'Eye On The Sparrow" & "Plain Jane" are KILLAS! With SLY handling all the instrumentation! The new remakes of the old Family Stone songs are SOLID.
What's great about it: SLY!
What's not so great: ZERO

why is bestbuy acting like you never heard of R&B singers George McCrea and Gwen McCrea?
i had a gwen cd in the mid '90s i think it was on the ichiban label. pretty good old school soul stuff. proably the distributors best buy get from may not have they're cd's in stock. not sure how much of they're cd's are still in print. i just checked on amazon for gwen most are OUT OF PRINT in the usa. but i saw about 5 imports. reggaej

Is Marlena Shaw, "It Is Love" recorded live at Vine St. still available?
I'm searching for Marlena Shaw's live album, It Is Love that was recroded live at Vine Street, which includes the song Go Away Little Boy. I recently heard it on the radio and would love to have it.
