The 16gb version made me return it for this 32gb

I literally returned my 16gb iPad Air that I bought from Best Buy right before the 30 day mark. Basically, I got this 32gb model for a mere $50 more dollars! I've been a regular Android tablet user and I have to admit, there are a ton of things you CAN'T do with iOS that you can do with Android, mainly customization. But aside from that, Apple's ecosystem with tablet optimized apps look fabulous on the iPad Air. As for disk space, even if you're not downloading all your music and loading a ton of videos into your iPad Air, 16gb of disappears quickly. In fact, you only get to use 12gb of that available space. 32gb is the sweet spot for tablets so you can install a ton of apps and files without worrying or micro-managing which files to keep on the tablet. It's a pain when you have to worry about the disk space you have on your tablet, so 32gb is definitely worth it. NOTE: I only bought this 32gb version because Best Buy was having a $50 off special. It's tough to justify dropping $100 for an extra 16gb. So thank you Best Buy for easing the pain with the $50 discount!
My Best Buy number: 0228227616
What's great about it: 32gb should be the norm for tablets, not 16gb
What's not so great: I would have never spent an extra $100 for 16 more gb. So thanks Best Buy!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Despite lack of customization, a fantastic tablet

I guess you can blame ASUS for having me turn my back on Android devices (after almost 4 years straight with them). I had a Google Nexus 10 which is probably the best Android tablet you could get that's not a Galaxy Note/Tab device. I wanted to go compact so I got a Google Nexus 7 (ASUS) and what a horrible customer experience when dealing with defective hardware. I guess being exposed to Android and their non-optimized for tablet apps for so long got me used to the quirks. But after tinkering with my iPad Air, all the 'lag' and actually tinkering with apps that are built for a TABLET (unlike Android where the mobile apps are basically the same ones you access on Google Play Store and they look awful on a tablet with a 10+ inch screen). For the record, iOS 7 and Android are very similar. In fact, aside from multiple users, customization, etc. there's almost nothing you can't do in an Android where you can do on an iOS device better. They're both really good operating systems. I don't think I'll ever look back to Android until they get their act together in regards to implementing their apps and software to match their tablets. After 4 years with Android mediocre tablets, going to the iPad Air was a huge refreshing experience. Apple's customer service beats all the other competition in regards to tablet manufacturers (especially ASUS, who unfortunately is the designated manufacturer of Google's awesome Nexus 7). The iPad Air is however PRICEY. After you get the accessories and the $99 Apple Care (trust me, it's worth it to cover your investment for 2yrs), I really didn't have enough money to justify another 16gb of space. You will need it. 4gb is already used up by the iPad Air so you're technically only free to use 12+ gb. It's a shame too. I could have used that extra 4gb for more music, videos, etc.
My Best Buy number: 0228227616
What's great about it: It's what other Android tablet manufacturers base their products on to compete in the market
What's not so great: Pricey pricey pricey

There are better ways to extend your range

Verified Purchase:Yes
This didn't actually do what I wanted it to do. You basically plug the thing to the area of your home that has weak or no signal and then, you have to log onto that extender. Basically, this thing mimics your router name with the words "_extension" on it. So if you're walking to and from your home, you have to MANUALLY log onto your router or your extender and vice versa. It does not work like a powerline adapter. What's even worse is that I actually got better download/upload speed running off my router's poor signal in the area of my home that has sketchy reception than I did off of the extender! I actually did the best thing which was just to get a router with better range. These extenders and powerline adapters are quick fixes, but ever since I got a decent router that advertised long range Wifi, I haven't had the need to go down the extender route again.

What's great about it: It was simple to install
What's not so great: You have connect to the extender separately from your router

I've been a long time Linksys/Cisco router user and I must say, I was hesitant about jumping manufacturers when I decided to go with the Netgear 3700. The price dropped which was a blessing. This router has what I could never seem to have with past Linksys/Cisco routers: Wifi Range. I like to manually select uncluttered channels so the Netgear Genie that you can use with your mobile phone or tablet makes tweaking your router very easy. The 2.4ghz signal is very reliable and fast. The range is terrific. I was able to get a strong signal all over my home. I think the "dual band" feature is great for people who have many devices that are capable of connecting via 5ghz. If you don't have many devices that run on 5ghz, then a dual band router is probably something you don't need. But even at 2.4ghz, this router works well and at great distances. Don't forget to switch your 2.4ghz or 5ghz speed to "up to 300mbps". For some reason, the manufacturer set a cap to your router by default so that you would not cause too much interference for your neighbors. You can change that cap and better yet, if you have Wifi Analyzer, you can manually change your router wifi channel to one that isn't occupied with too many other residents. This is something that would require a little tech savvy and/or knowledge. Most routers have their Wifi channel set to 1 or 6. Find a channel that isn't so cluttered and this router will do well and then some.
What's great about it: The Wifi strength and range
What's not so great: Unless you're a little tech savvy, getting the right settings may be a chore

You get range, but at the cost of download speeds

I'm not sure about the 100mbps pitch on these devices. I was hoping to increase my WiFi router range without sacrificing performance. The only problem is, the Netgear adapter would ensure that I get "a full set of WiFi bars regarding reception" ----- but at HALF the download/upload speeds. What? My laptop actually had better performance running off a single bar or WiFi reception straight from the router (located on the other side of the house) than I did when I was running with a "full set of WiFi reception bars" from the Netgear adapters! I immediately returned the item and it may just be my neighborhood or the way our house was made, but $49.99 was not worth the experiment
What's great about it: It was very easy to install
What's not so great: I got faster download speeds running off the router directly despite sketchy reception

You don't really get much 'extended' range

So my main router is located in the living room. I seem to get lesser signal from the other end of the house. Not a whole lot of signal, but some signal nonetheless. I figured getting this would solve my problems. The installation was quite easy. You basically create another network that is connected to your router (ex: MYROUTER_EXT). So you can either log onto your main router or the extended router. The most pathetic thing I noticed is that I get quicker download speed via my main router with average signal than I do with the router with excellent signal. I was hoping to get a strong enough signal and download speed. I was better off just running withOUT the extender without sacrificing download and upload speed. Quite disappointed. Do a speed test alternating between your main router and the extender and you'll see a drastic difference in speed. I returned this item immediately.

Great idea. Horrible sound quality
on October 14, 2012
Posted by: vespa55
from South San Francisco, CA
I like how my local Best Buy has these speakers stored in a shelf way in the back underneath all the tablets. It's as if it was an indirect warning that I totally ignored. I figured, great, it's a steal. $25 for Bluetooth speakers so I can hook up my Nexus 7 to it and be able to carry it around the room while the audio streams towards the speakers. The problem? The audio is horrible. It's like a contraption built with tweeters but no mid/low speakers to even out the sound. It really sounded bad. After an hour, I drove back to my local Best Buy and immediately returned it. Shoot for higher quality Bluetooth speakers. This is definitely not worth it.
What's great about it: At first, it seems like a nifty idea
What's not so great: When you finally sync your device to it, the sound is poor

Change IS Better! A definite upgrade from SVR!
on January 24, 2012
Posted by: vespa55

I've been playing Smackdown vs. Raw for years and it was always disappointing to see very minor improvements to go along with just a different roster, year after year. WWE 12 changes all that. Unfortunately, the countering system that drove me nuts with WWE All Stars is back in WWE 12. I've had this game for weeks now and I still cannot master countering the A.I.'s attacks (even with the settings set to easy). If you can ignore the frustrations that drive you nuts via the counter system, the game is quite fabulous. If you have surround sound, the sound effects are fantastic as well. Something about the Road to Wrestlemania storylines that can be annoying is that you can be pawning your opponents and all you're really doing is making it to a certain area or point where you can hit 'Y' to trigger a cutscene. So basically, all the punishment you dished out on an A.I. opponent can be all for not due to a pre-made cutscene. But in any case, this is the best wrestling game I've ever played so far. The countering can be frustrating at times, but overall, it's a great game.
What's great about it: Presentation and sound effects
What's not so great: The counter system *sigh* Sometimes it's hit or miss.

SynopsisThe view from atop the ring's corner post is a glorious one. You stand firmly, balancing with the precision of an acrobat. Your opponent stands below you, clearly underestimating the power of your renowned finisher. This guy may be 20 years your junior, but inside the WWE All Stars' ring, time is not a factor and you are at the height of your game. You grin, knowing your opponent is about to be in a world of hurt. You are, after all, a WWE Legend. In WWE All Stars, match up the WWE's most famous and brutal wrestlers to determine the greatest champion of all time. Create fantasy matches from the power-packed roster of WWE Legends and WWE Superstars. Each wrestler features distinct abilities, signature moves and famous finishers for over-the-top, action-packed gameplay. A variety of grapples, standing and running attacks and combination sequences keep the action exciting, and stylized characters create an engaging spectacle. The game is all about 'reversals'... unfortunately
on July 5, 2011
Posted by: vespa55
from South San Francisco, CA
I was really excited to get this game. Played the demo and was hoping for more of that hype by getting the game. That's when the trouble with the game's difficulty hit me like a splash of cold water in the face. The game is all about TIMING and REVERSALS. I couldn't even really enjoy the obnoxious graphics of a move being presented in a exaggerated fashion. There's this indicator that pops up telling you that you should have hit the Right Bumper on your controller so you could have reversed a grapple or move, but the timing is difficult to master that sometimes you feel like smashing your Right Bumper rapidly just to reverse a move (unfortunately, this doesn't work well either). And even if you do reverse the CPU's move, he/she will reverse your reversal! So with a game that basically puts your favorite wrestler in an arcade style game, I think the over-emphasis on reversals pretty much took the fun out of this game. The reversals in the Smackdown vs Raw series were not as difficult to pull off. In WWE All Stars, it was hit or miss. Even when you think you've timed the reversal well, it doesn't always work. I sold this game after trying not to pull my hair on mastering reversals for 2 weeks. It was not fun at all.
What's great about it: Hall of Fame wrestlers and other current greats
What's not so great: Reversals. The game is about reversals. Makes for a very difficult and hard game.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Basically, it's 2K10 with updated rosters.
on March 14, 2011
Posted by: vespa55
from South San Francisco, CA
Okay, there are a few tweaks here and there in MLB 2K11, but oh they are so minor. Other than fielding and a new career mode, it's basically the SAME as 2K10 with an updated present day roster. What remains the same is the extreme difficulty when it comes to hitting ANY pitch from a batter's perspective (it's feast or famine, you're either going to make contact or strike out) and this is at Pro difficulty. Putting the sliders to Rookie does help a bit. But the feast of famine hitting is the same as in 2K10. Some of the mannerisms that your favorite players have are the same. BUT, when it comes to instant replay, that same herky jerky swing motion after a batter makes a hit is horrible. I've never seen a sweet swing get portrayed so awfully in 2K10 and 2K11. It's as if 2K Sports released an updated version of 2K10 and called it 2K11. What a disappointment. It's too bad MLB The Show is exclusive for PS3 owners only.
What's great about it: Updated rosters. Tweaks here and there
What's not so great: It's just 2K10 with updated rosters
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
