The motor has sufficient torque to extract even the tightest cork. However, it takes about 20 seconds to pull it out, and then about 10 seconds after pushing the reverse button to dump the cork out. So be patient.
I can remove about ten corks before having to recharge the unit. It does recharge fairly quickly (a few hours).

It pooped out after eleven months, and Best Buy refunded me the full purchase price in the form of a gift card, which I then spent on a new (HP) printer. Good printer for home

For $80 I was expecting a fabulous printer, and I got what I was expecting. The set up was trouble-free, and it connected fairly easily to the wireless network (it would not connect until I rebooted the wireless modem). It prints OK, but a little slowly. If you want fast printouts, then you have to spend more than $80. This printer is fine for light-duty work.

The outside depth includes the handle that sticks out about an inch.

How well does the bin contain the shredded paper?
We have a Fellowes model with a steel mesh bin - it faces the front. The problem is that it "leaks" the shreds of papers so that whenever you empty the bin, the more you need to vacuum. Is this a problem with this model?
The Insignia model (which I own) does not have a mesh on the front of the basket. It uses a translucent piece of plastic so you can see when the bin is getting full. All of the shredded paper stays in the bin.
