This was one of the best movies we saw from 2015. Good story, good production values, good acting. it was plausible science fiction -- nothing mind bending, very fact grounded (undoubtedly some of the science is oversimplified). A good action story with some humor.

The claim that The Water Diviner is "inspired by true events" is a bit of a stretch, but it tells a good story that my wife and I easily got involved in. To me, the Turkish characters were the most interesting, as was the ability of at least some of the one-time enemies to develop a mutual understanding. The extras are worth watching.

Far from the Madding Crowd is a very good movie. It moves a bit slowly at times -- sometimes you want to push the characters in what seem like the obvious directions they should go. Like a Merchant & Ivory film, the characters take their time to get to a conclusion, although they do finally get there.

My wife and I (and a couple of our kids) really enjoyed this movie. It's on a par with Chocolate (not surprising, since it has the same director), with a bit less emphasis on romance. Helen Mirren is great, as usual, and the interplay between her character and the father was probably our favorite part of the movie.
Join fearless heroine Alice (Mila Jovovich) on her quest to save mankind in this collection featuring Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Resident Evil: Extinction, Resident Evil: Afterlife, and Resident Evil: Retribution.

The Resident Evil series doesn't require deep thought or reflection, but on balance it is better than it has a right to be, although the fifth installment was a bit too much like a videogame (I know the movies are based on a video game, but the last installment had a little too much of that feel to me). It's a great series of movies for exercise on a treadmill or spinner bike.
