Very good Star Wars film and Blu-ray. It's a balanced mix of what the fans wanted and what Disney execs needed it to be to get off to a solid start for the masses. I have a feeling the next few movies will be a lot more original and daring building off this one since the investment is obviously going to pay off. So enjoy this now because it will probably be seen as one of the relatively weaker entries in the new series as time moves on and we get Rogue One and Episode VIII soon enough. Worthy of anyone's collection with lots of good features, but the patient would do best to wait for a release with some commentary.

It's a great system so far now that I'm used to it. The Battlefront bundle is a digital download and I hooked it directly to the modem so it downloaded quicker (I hear doing it wirelessly can take all day - only took me a couple hours). I would have preferred a disc but the game worked out and it also downloads 4 or 5 old Star Wars games if you choose. Unfortunately you have to pay to play online now, so Battlefront isn't that fun, but GTAV and now MGS 5: The Phantom Pain are really good even without online features. Get a remote for Blu-ray movies because using the controller is kind of a pain for navigating especially trying to turn it off to save controller power. Still really awesome and no problems.

I really enjoyed The Next Day and was anticipating this one. While it has a few moments that stick with you, it isn't nearly as accessible as The Next Day. I think Bowie sounds in fine form here despite his passing not long after recording Blackstar but this is a challenging album. It will likely grow as time passes and people move on from the immediate loss upon release. For now this album only feels like an epitaph.

Some good visuals and funny moments, but I wish Ridley Scott would have used the time for more Alien films or spent it on the Ford/Gosling Blade Runner sequel. Feels like we got a much better Matt Damon astronaut in Interstellar and like this was a downgrade. Good for a viewing or two, but you never feel any danger here. I have a feeling this was a much better read.

This has some of the best action sequences on film with some familiar characters and new threats in the form of Dave Bautista and Christoph Waltz who have many moments to shine. Where this film struggles a little is in trying to tie itself to all the prior Daniel Craig-helmed Bond films with some clumsy opening credit flashbacks showcasing villains and allies of the past and a little exposition later on trying to link it all together. Even if it doesn't serve to confuse, it just doesn't make an impact other than as an advertisement to go see the other films if you haven't already. A minor gripe to an otherwise solid film.

I didn't really like the collector's tin package, wish I went with the regular packaging instead as it's a little clunky trying to get the discs out to play. Good movie overall, but I thought the ending was a little underwhelming and felt a lot less realistic than the original Jurassic Park as a whole. Still felt like a park and not so much a 'world' since the action never left the island. Some very violent moments so not for the little ones, but it's too over the top to scare adults and some occasionally bad CGI takes you out of it at times especially with the big brontosauruses and their skin textures.

It lived up to all the positive reaction to be sure. The world is somewhat limited so I wouldn't say it's quite up there with The Lord of the Rings or what's coming with the new Star Wars films, but for what is essentially a chase down Fury Road you get a lot of excitement and some interesting characters. Nice to sort of see Toe Cutter from the original Mad Max back in a prominent role as the lead villain, Immorten Joe. And we even get Elvis Presley's granddaughter, Riley Keough, and Lenny Kravitz's daughter as Joe's escaped breeders. Worthy of adding to the collection for sure. Not really as graphic or violent as the first two films except for about two brief moments of female nudity and some somewhat scantilly-clad escapees. Could have easily been PG-13.

If you loved Flight of the Conchords or Eagle vs Shark you'll love this one too. Great effects and humor. Even though it's funny there is plenty of blood and gore. And despite the werewolves' aversions to swearing, there is a fair amount of it in places, but not as bad as in a Melissa McCarthy movie. Definitely worth adding to your comedy collection and will be a good way to take the edge off Halloween.

About what you'd expect from SpongeBob. Depending on your mileage with the show you may feel like you've been beat over the head with SpongeBob's rubber chicken sense of humor one too many times by now, but it makes up for it somewhat with the CG toward the end. Shame we lost Ernest Borgnine, this would have been a great movie for his Mermaid Man character to appear in.

This is a film where I think you have to be able to appreciate the kinds of films that are done in one or two shots. It's certainly a great technical achievement and it took great actors to pull it off, but it leaves you wanting more from the story and expecting bigger set pieces with all the attention it received during award season. Great for film buffs, but this is no Dark Knight film if that's what you're hoping for. Still very good though.
