This model of surge protector was one of the first I considered buying, if only because of the sheer number of available outlets. 11 outlets is certainly more than enough for places where you have a lot of electronics in one spot, which was my situation exactly; in that regard, the unit works well for that purpose. The protection rating on the unit is also helpful, though I have yet to test its full protective capabilities (and I hope i never have to). If you need a lot of outlets in very little room, this should be considered.

I purchased the BD-J6300 for its 3D performance, and in that regard it does not disappoint. Once you set your screen size in the system options, 3D comes out quite well, in some cases even better than in a movie theater. Regular playback is no slouch either, and it helps that 4K upconversion is an option for those who have an Ultra HD TV but no corresponding player or discs yet. Worth getting if you need some of those options.

When I decided to replace my old A/V receiver, I went with the brand I was replacing: Onkyo. The TX-NR656 is a solid system centerpiece, providing the necessary power and the latest audio formats, such as Dolby Atmos and DTS: X for a more compelling experience. There's also support for 3D, Ultra HD components and legacy audio formats like DVD-Audio and SACD. Well worth getting if you need something new or replacing an older model. (Oh, and the 170 watts per channel rating is for when you use 6-ohm speakers; for typical 8-ohm speakers, you get 100 watts per channel, which is more than adequate.)

When I learned that Star Wars: The Force Awakens would eventually be released on 3D Blu-ray later this year, I could hardly wait for it, as I had seen the movie that way in the theater. The wait was worth it, as the 3D version does not disappoint on any level. Great effects, good sound, and a fairly compelling story line make for an overall top-notch experience in home entertainment. If you have a 3D-capable TV and Blu-ray player, it's worth investing in.

When I needed a mouse to replace an older one that was falling apart, Logitech was the first name that came to my mind. After years of using corded mice, I decided to take a chance on this one, a wireless model. It works well, but the key to its use is the control software, which you have to download from Logitech's site. Assigning functions to the buttons in MacOS is easy, but control often varies from what you set, sometimes dramatically, whether it's the cursor speed or the scrolling rate of the center wheel. You have to play around a bit with the software to get the settings just right. Overall, it's a good piece of hardware, and suitable for any system, but keep an eye on your settings.

Despite that Independence Day: Resurgence doesn't quite pack the same emotional wallop as its predecessor, the film makes for a fairly entertaining time. 20 years after the events of the first movie, the aliens are back, and looking to extract the Earth's core to power their own ships. With the help of an alien computer from a friendly race, David Levinson, former President Whitmore, and all of their allies join together to defend the human race from extinction once more. The 3D is actually somewhat improved over the theatrical experience, and the time goes by fairly smoothly.

In 1983, En Sabah Nur, the first and most powerful mutant in history, revives and prepares to conquer a world that has otherwise forgotten him, and his sights are set on possessing the mind-altering powers of Professor Charles Xavier. Lots of fan favorites are featured here, along with a cameo from Hugh Jackman that sets up his next outing as Logan/Wolverine. The 3D disc looks and sounds marvelous, and should not be missed by those who have the tech for it. Recommended.

A look back at Kakashi's career

This latest volume of Naruto Shippuden is dedicated to Naruto's team leader Kakashi, more specifically his early days as a member of Konoha's ANBU Black Ops squad. There, he faces all sorts of problems, including dealing with a certain Wood Style jutsu user (who would later be known to series watchers as Yamato) and the ever-dangerous Uchiha Itachi, as well as his own personal issues and competition from the secret society known as the Foundation and its leader, Danzo. While it might seem a waste of time in some respects, the episodes go by quickly enough, and they do shed some light on Kakashi's motivations toward taking on Naruto and his teammates as his subordinates. Lots more is also revealed concerning Itachi, and there is of course the promise of more revelations as the Fourth Ninja War continues. Worth a look, at least one time.

When I first heard about the new Moto Z Droid Edition cellphone, I knew I had to get it, since I needed a replacement for my dying Droid Turbo quickly and the new phone looked promising. As a phone, the Moto Z does the job like all others do these days, but there are two good points to make for it. First, it's probably the thinnest, least bulky phone ever made; second, its capabilities can be expanded with "Moto Mods", special packs that snap onto the back and that do different things--I like this especially for the external battery pack that I got with the phone, which could expand its charge by many hours (and I rely heavily on battery power these days). In all, this is a great phone and one worth getting.

Does well while waiting for the 3D edition

I wasn't originally going to purchase this, but then I decided to because I didn't want to wait until the movie hit cable TV. I'm still waiting for the collector's 3D edition due out in November, but for now this version does the job well (and it has a great Steelbook case to match). The film itself does a good job in keeping faithful to the Star Wars saga, while expanding its palette of characters and worlds, and providing a decent plot as well. The 3D version will undoubtedly look great, but for now this package exists to satisfy the hardcore fans and collectors.

do all the HDMI inputs have the pass through feature? or just the 4K/3D input?
All of the HDMI inputs are compatible with the V1.4 standard, which is the level needed for 3D and most of the surround audio formats. Ports 1~3 are meant for 4K Ultra HD devices, but are compatible with ones that are not 4K specifically. Pass-through for 3D and most audio formats should be enabled across all ports.
