Great story, but heavy-handed directing

This story is unbelievable and worth learning about, but the directing is a bit too heavy-handed. It's not that I disagree with the director's slant on the issues; I just think the story stands on its own without the not-so-subtle commentary.

Despite Tom Hanks giving a very good performance, the real scene-stealer in this movie is the Russian spy. This movie is well acted, beautifully filmed, and (unfairly) did not seem to get the recognition it deserved from critics or audiences while in theaters. Definitely worth watching, but maybe not buying.
