Easy to Use But Is Unnecessary
on September 27, 2017

I have two cats and a 2 year old, so messes are frequently made on our couches (not leather couches). So I liked the idea of having a small device to help lift up stains (vs. using spray can and a rag). But at the end of the day it's no better or no worse than a normal can of Resolve Carpet cleaner and a rag. Sure it's more fun, you use what is basically a hand held vacuum to squirt cleaning solution and then vacuum it up, but after that it's more hassle. You have to empty the dirty water bin before storing (to prevent leaks) and you have to make sure it's charged. What was misleading to me was the brushes. I thought the scrubbing brushes were motorized, but they're not. You squirt the solution and then move the entire device back and forth to agitate the stain and then you vacuum the water.
The device does work, there's no doubt. It took care of melted chocolate, pizza sauce, and diet soda without issues. But it's expensive, and you have to purchase cleaning solution (the device goes through it quickly) which adds up. And you need to keep it recharged, all for the couple of times a month (or so) that you need to clean up a stain or spot on your upholstery or carpet. I just don't see what it provides that Resolve and a rag doesn't. It's big downside (to me) is that it's limited to spot cleaning, but that's what it's designed for.
If you have the money and like gadgets, this is a great product that does its job. Otherwise, save your money and stick to old fashioned methods of spot cleaning your upholstery and carpet.

Fantastic Wireless Keyboard
on September 25, 2017
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
I am an attorney and use keyboards every single day. They are an important tool and having the best quality it is important to me. I recently purchased a mechanical keyboard (for work) to replace an aging Microsoft Wireless keyboard. I fell in love with the mechanical "clickiness" of that keyboard. (important to note that it has two USB 3.0 ports built into the keyboard).
But I still needed a keyboard for my home office where I not only work but also play. I like to edit movies and photos as a hobby. When looking for a keyboard, materials and design are important to me. Generally, for keyboards, I don't pay attention to features. I just want something that's accurate, responsive and easy to use. SO when I saw the Craft keyboard I was intrigued about the dial. I liked the idea of being able to use it's dial to help work flow (even though it is by no means critical or essential).
First, design and materials. This is a sharp, modern looking keyboard. It is a nice heft to it; I actually find it surprisingly heavy, but that's by no means a bad thing, that's a great thing! The heft of the keyboard along with the rubber feet keep it in place. It literally doesn't even budge while in use. The keyboard has a nice rubbery plastic feel to it that gives it a grip. I know rubbery and plastic are synonymous with "cheap" but it's not. The rubbery feel gives it a nice grip. There's also a little imprint in each key that I surprisingly like.
I'm still a partial look at your keyboard typer (i.e. don't type by touch alone) but I appreciate the shape of the keys. They aren’t completely flat, but have a nice “caved in” shape to them. And unlike my mechanical keyboard, which gives off a satisfying click (sometimes to the annoyance of my co-workers) this Craft keyboard is virtually silent. So while there’s no satisfying audible click, there’s still a satisfying key depression. In other words, the keyboard has a satisfying feel to it.
I must say I love the shortcut keys and key placement. The icons are smart (as in simple, but you know what they mean). I also appreciate shortcuts for screenshots and calculator. Small things that are no deal breaker, but do enhance your experience and productivity. The backlighting is nice too. The lights are evenly distributed and show up when you place your hands near the keyboard (how does that even work?!).
And on to the main event, or at least the reason why I think you’ve read this far into my review. The Craft dial. In order to use the dial (well, as a shortcut, by default, in my Windows laptop it controlled the volume) you have to download Logitech’s Option app, and then connect your keyboard to it. From there you download some extensions. So far, the only extensions are the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite programs. I mentioned earlier that I dabble in video editing. Well, I use Adobe Premiere Element, not the full on Premiere Pro, so sadly, I am unable to use the dial while video editing. I did give it a spin in Word and while it’s cool to make quick adjustments on the fly, it’s not much use to me. I don’t change themes, or font size routinely between documents (the documents we work on are standardized) so the dial doesn’t offer much benefits to me (right now).
I’m hopeful that the list of programs will expand in the future. There’s definitely some potential there! And to be honest, I am okay with using the dial as volume rocker as I am often adjusting the volume in my office space. It’s much easier to grab a knob on the keyboard an turn it, versus either hitting FN and then another button or using your mouse to adjust the volume in the system tray. And another great feature is one in Chrome. If you usually have a lot of tabs open, you can spin the knob to open your various tabs. It’s quick, responsive and fluid, and I actually prefer it versus using the mouse to find the tab you want to open.
All in all, if you care about your typing experience (not everyone does) then this keyboard should be high on your list. The knob is limited in use right now, but I think it’s more than a gimmick. Once Logitech fleshes out some more uses for it, it will be more than worth it. I’ve had zero connection issues and it connects to my laptop (via Bluetooth) almost immediately. I can’t say how long the battery lasts, but I’ve owned it and used it daily for nearly a week and have yet to have to charge it.

Best Bluetooth Headphones on the Market
on September 25, 2017
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
Bose has done it again.
I haven't upgraded my Bose Headphones since buying QC 15s a long time ago. I've replaced those ear cups a number of times, but they've always been my go to. You cannot beat the noise cancellation. The battery life was great. But the one thing always holding it back was the wire. Call it a first world problem (it most certainly is) but I got tired of a dangling headphone cable when trying to navigate through an airport. Or having a cable dangle by your side. I passed on the QC35, honestly, because of price and the fact that my QC 15s still worked great. But with the addition of Google Assistant (I'm a heavy Android user and user of Google services) I was intrigued and finally decided to make the leap.
First, sound performance. The quality is great, whether the highs notes of classical music, or the bass from your favorite pop songs, the QC35 like virtually all Bose products deliver great, balanced sound.
Second, design (weight and dimensions). The headphones are a nice black color, which in my opinion looks professional. They are extremely light, but I do question their durability (my same minor complaint of the QC15). It goes without saying you must be careful with these headphones, you take care of them and they'll take care of you. If you bend them too quickly, drop them, put them in your bag without the case (more on that in a bit) they will break. It's a fact of life. The buttons are minimalist (Google Assistant on left ear cup, volume controls on the right) which make it easy to use. Overall, I'll take less durability (i.e. they can't take a beating) to keep down the weight.
Third, comfort. These are so light, they feel like you aren't wearing them. The ear cups have a nice soft leathery feel to them and the headband is adequately padded. I also like that the ear cups go around my ears completely. What I mean is, I had Beats Studio Wireless headphones and the ear cups never fully surrounded my ear, which led to discomfort while wearing for long periods. But one caveat, with no airflow, my ears do sometimes get hot and I have to take them off for a few minutes, but to me, I deal with that for ANY ear cup headphone.
Fourth, Battery life. These bad boys do last about 20 hours which is way more than you can ask for in any Bluetooth speaker. And using the 3.5 mm cord to connect to your device with a wire, can double the battery life effectively matching the QC15.
Five, miscellaneous (namely Google Assistant). If you have an Android and use Google Assistant for anything, these are great to have. If you get a text, the headphones tell you, you then hit the Google Assistant button once and then your text is read to you. You want to send a text? Hold the Google Assistant button down while you say who you wanna send a message to. Want to know the weather? Same thing, hold down the button and ask for the weather. It's a convenience worth having if you listen to your headphones frequently. It's just so easy to use.
Lastly, in re miscellaneous items, I must add that I am in favor of all companies that provide you with a case when not using their expensive headphones. I think most big companies do it and Bose is no exception. Two things of note about the case. 1) It's a little squishy, meaning it could have been a little more "hardshell" for my tastes; and 2) it has a little picture on a flap inside the case showing you how to fold your headphones when putting them in the case. Why am I mentioning that? Because it is a constant reminder of how to store your headphones without "squishing" the ear cups. When you fold up the Beats StudioWireless headphones, you necessarily push the bottoms of the two ear cups together which can cause a deformity in the shape of the ear padding. Minor point, but it's the little touches like that I, personally, appreciate.
At the end of the day, these are expensive headphones, so they are only for select people. Having said that, if you are looking to spend some money on quality headphones that you are willing to take care of, these Bose QC35 II with Google Assistant (can't comment on iPhone users) is a tough one to beat. I absolutely recommend these for anyone looking for noise canceling headphones and doubly recommend it for those who regularly utilize the Google Assistant and are in the market for noise cancelling headphones.

Simple but efficient

This is the go to Keurig in my opinion. No frills and no gimmicks. If you've never used one, it's simple, you fill the side carafe up with water (yes you can remove if from the maker for ease of fill-up in your sink) and then you open the lid in the front, drop your pod off, and hit the button that correlates with the size of your coffee cup. Voila.
The big drawback, which is obvious, is the need to have these pods on hand. If you drink a lot of coffee, this may not be economical. But if you just want one cup in the morning to get you going (and don't have a huge family full of mooches) the cost is better than buying your own cup at a coffee shop.
I do like the bold cup option, not sure how it works, or if it even does (and isn't merely a marketing gimmick) but to me it does give a richer flavor to traditional coffee (for the sweet coffees like Cinnamon roll flavors, I couldn't tell the difference).
Anyways, if you're in the market for a Keurig and you don't need to make pots of coffee (i.e. don't have a lot of people in the house/apt) then this is a great choice. The coffee pod selection is great, there has to be something out there that can tickle your fancy.
Side note, Best Buy regularly has pods on sale on their Deal of the Day which is always a great time to stock up.

Best gaming experience in long time

I'm a loss of words in describing the feeling of playing the Nintendo Switch. It is just short of magical to be playing Zelda on the big screen, then pulling the Switch off its dock and playing it ANYWHERE. This is a game changer for long flights.
My biggest concerns though, and they are pretty substantial, is the lack of content. I have been engulfed in Zelda; primarily because it's awesome but also because not much has pulled me away. I'm content now, but at some point Zelda's magic will wear off and I'm concerned I might be stuck without a new game that can capture my amazement. I don't think that will be the case, but the Wii U was a huge disappointment for me.
The only other big concern are the prices of the accessories. OVERPRICED. The pro controller is a must have for couch gaming, but it will put you back $70. Extra docks are $90 which has prevented me from getting one. Then there's a travel case. Then there's screen protector. These are all worthwhile purchases don't get me wrong, but just know going in that if you do happen to find a Switch on the shelf, you are likely to spend much more than $300 to get yourself going.
The Switch truly is awesome and the future is exciting!

I hate buying Apple cables. I take care of my electronics, it's noticeable when you look at them. But cables always get the rough treatment. They are thrown in the bottoms of bags, pulled, tugged, and twisted. Apple cables, unlike other cables in my opinion, break first. But when you try to buy non-Apple products, you are likely to have an intact cable that won't charge your device (not all the time by any stretch, but it happens and it is frustrating). So you're stuck with the Apple cables if you want guaranteed performance. But just make sure you take care of them. (Apple, braided cables wouldn't hurt!!)

Fast and easy to use
on August 12, 2017
Posted by: callmeageeth

There isn't much to say about this 4K player. If you have a 4K TV and are willing to invest in Ultra Blu-rays, this is the model to get.
I was an early adopter in 4K so I don't have the fancy HDR. But Ultra Blu-rays still look fantastic. While I don't purchase Blu-rays as much as I used to, I still like owning physical copies and adding them to my library.
Anyways, back to the task at hand, this player is incredible light and easy to use. It's about 18 inches wide, which is the standard width for home theater equipment, but it's not very deep. That's not a problem as long as you stack your player on top of something (assuming you have enough AV equipment to stack), but you won't be able to put say, a cable box, on top of the player.
It has two HDMI ports, although one is for audio only and then a power plug (and optical audio). So it's easy to set up. I thought the menus of the player look kind of dated, and having WiFi is nice for any firmware updates. The WiFi also allows you to watch Netflix etc., but if you're getting this player, you are likely the person to have already established your streaming services and how you play them, so that feature is probably moot. (It is for me, I still use Apple TV for my streaming video services).
Performance wise, this thing is great. I recall the first Blu-ray players taking minutes, sometimes 10, to load a disc. This player boots up in no time. The picture quality speaks for itself. It's 4K. If you get an Ultra Blu-ray and play it on your 4K TV through this player, it is going to look fantastic. I have had zero issues loading discs. And again, the picture quality has been phenomenal. (Get Planet Earth II!!!)

Great performance, bad instructions
on July 30, 2017
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
I should note that I've never fried anything before. So when I got this air fryer, I was starting at ground zero.
Having said that, I can say that the performance of this fryer is great, but the process to get there wasn't. That's not to say that it's difficult to use, but the instructions manual could have been left out of the box for all I knew. They were that bad. The pictures weren't clear (extremely confusing) and the word descriptions were even more confusing. That's part because this one manual was for two different models of the air fryer each with distinct features and parts. I thought for the longest time I didn't have some of the things I needed.
After some trial and error, I finally had success. Fries (they were surprisingly delicious). I followed the manual (which gives you the times you should cook some things) and cut up a potato, soaked them in water, sprinkled a smidge of oil on them and put them in the fryer and turned the knob. Bam, that's it. Looking back it seems silly to complain about a simple to use machine, but since I've never used a fryer before (of any kind) I was a little flabbergasted at the beginning.
The only thing you have to do is plug it in, put your food in the basket, and turn a knob (like an old school winding timer) and that's it. IT comes easily apart for cleaning and it's simple enough to put together that there's only one way to do so.
It comes with a recipe book, but don't expect much. My Ninja food processor came with a really nice and easy to use recipe book that I think all food appliances should have (at least for those like me who cook the same things over and over and want to venture out more). But that's really not on the product, so I can't dock a star for that.
All in all, if you want an air fryer, this thing is great. If you know how to use one, then by all means get it. IF you're just interested in using one and don't have any experience like me, this is a great buy, just plan on doing a little research before and afterwards on what you can do with it.

Sounds crisp but lacks the bass
on July 1, 2017
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
First things first, I'm no audio aficionado, but I've been around long enough, owned enough audio products (both good and bad) to be able to talk about what sounds good. This Samsung bar sounds good, and while it touts to have a built in sub, be prepared to be underwhelmed. Nothing, whether cheap system or otherwise, beats a dedicated subwoofer. That's why Samsung actually sells a dedicated wireless subwoofer to go with this sound bar. Don't get me wrong, it still sounds good and I was actually surprised by the surround sound effects (again, nothing beats dedicated surround speakers, you can buy surround speakers to go with this soundbar).
This is is made for the sake of simplicity. if you want a quality sound bar that upgrades your TV speakers but don't want to invest time or money in true surround sound, this is a great option. But it's price is steep, I would probably stick to another brand unless you have a Samsung TV (this soundbar can connect wirelessly to Samsung TVs, which is a boon, less wires).
It's simplicity can also be a drawback. For example, it only has one HDMI input. So you can plug in a 4K player, or a game console, or cable box but not two. Now there's a workaround, you plug the optical audio cable from your soundbar to the TV and use the TV inputs to plug your devices into. There's also an AUX input. That's it. HDMI, AUX, and optical audio. You can connect via bluetooth. The setup is easy and the remote makes sense. But keep in mind, you'll have a second remote to control volume (unless you have a Samsung TV, the Samsung TV remote should be interchangeable).
To maintain the simple clean look (I do think the soundbar looks great) there's virtually no display. When you turn it on, the word ON appears in the right side of the soundbar, hidden behind the speaker grill (that extends across the entire face of the bar to create a uniform look, but then it disappears. I like that feature, but you don't always know whether it's on or off. When you change the soundmode, you only get abbreviations, some of them like MOV are easy to figure out, but others aren't. The input names are also limited to three letters. This is a minor point, and shouldn't be a big deal, MOST people will leave it on the same sound setting and input and only hit VOL up or down. But for those that tweak things, or use multiple inputs or have more complicated set ups, it's good to know.
It is wall mountable, but it sticks out. What I mean is, it's pretty wide (not length of bar, but the depth from the back to the front). So it sticks out pretty far from the wall.
This soundbar is also pretty heavy, but overall I like the look.
This is in my bedroom, so I like the one piece and not having to worry about a separate subwoofer. But if this were in my living room, I would probably swing for the Samsung wireless surround speakers and sub to go with it (but maybe not, it would get pricey).
All in all, good soundbar, but make sure it fits your needs before buying, it's not cheap!

Inferno features a vibrant red-on-black color scheme and the distinct spiral pattern that our best-selling FPS Freek® Vortex™ made famous. The comfortable spiral pattern adapts to the pressure you put on it, so the harder you play, the harder Inferno works to keep your thumbs from slipping. Inferno’s 9.9 mm of added height increases the analog stick radial distance by 47%, which provides a arc distance increase of 135.5%. This gives you the ability to make smaller, more precise in-game movements, affording you the luxury of turning up controller sensitivities to maximum levels so you can turn on your opponents faster and gain the upper-hand.

All Lucyd frames include a 7-day moneyback guarantee and 1-year warranty against any defects in frame or lenses.

What are the glasses capable of?

That's a seemingly broad question, but they connect to any Bluetooth source device and can play music through the speakers embedded in the arms of the glasses. The sound is good based on the open speaker design, so the sound will bleed a little bit. But overall, I like them.

Does it come with the lever handle? If not, how can one order the handle shown?

No, it does not come with a lever. You're stuck with what you have, or going to a home improvement store to get one.

Do you have to pedal this bike to make it work?

You have to pedal it to get it going, once you turn the pedal maybe twice, the motor kicks in and it will either assist your pedaling or you can use the throttle

Pixel Buds A-Series bring you rich, high-quality sound for a lot less than you’d expect. Their beamforming mics help make calls crystal clear.*** The flush-to-ear design is stylish, and the stabilizer arc keeps them in place so you can wear them even during the sweatiest workout.**

Does it have Noise Cancellation feature ?

No they do not have active noise cancelling. One of the drawbacks of the Pixel Buds (IMHO) is that they let in a lot of ambient noise, even with a good seal/fit in your ears.

Does Google pixel buds pair with iPhones?

I haven't specifically tried it, but it's my understanding they do, but I do know you'll lose the ability to use/activate the Google Assistant through the Pixel Buds.

Can I use my Goggles with the DJI mavic air 2s?

I haven't tested it, because I don't own the goggles, but there's a setting to change the camera to FPV. And according to dronedj.com, it is compatible.

Will Air 2s work with note 20 ultra?

I don't own that phone, but I don't see why not. Biggest concern is size of the phone and whether it fits into the controller. I use a Google Pixel 4 XL and there's still a little more space for the "arms" of the controller to hold the phone. And in terms of the app itself, you'll need to download it straight from the DJI website (which is the same process for all Androids)
