Maximize the versatility of your GoPro camera with this Insignia Everyday Adventures accessory kit. The adjustable head strap and bicycle handlebar mount let you record POV scenes hands-free, and the suction cup mount attaches to flat surfaces for stationary or in-car filming. The triple-flex handle of this Insignia Everyday Adventures accessory kit converts into a tripod.

Good Basic Kit

These might not be AS sturdy as the GoPro branded accessories but you just cannot beat the price. I realize that selling accessories is probably GoPro's bread and butter but they are way too overpriced. This kit is priced exceptionally well and it has just about everything the average user would need/want.

Fly your GoPro drone confidently with these Karma propellers. Their design makes these propellers highly efficient, giving you smoother, quieter flight than standard propellers. Use this pack of two clockwise and two counterclockwise Karma propellers as a replacement kit for your Karma drone, and install them easily with the color-coded guide.

Must buy accessory

I love my Karma, and even though I've gotten the hang of flying it, I finally hit a branch that broke a propeller. Do yourself a favor and buy a pack of these so you aren't stuck unable to fly when you get to your destination. I've seen these break when stored in the bag (when still attached to the drone, which I don't recommend doing).

Best way for 4K Picture

Don't rely on streaming to get 4K resolution, it's too finicky. Sure it's cheaper, but Ultra Blu-Ray is the way to go. This is a fantastic budget model (look for it on sale) that works as intended. The menu system is old and 1990s Netscape-ish but it works fine. I honestly don't bother with it because I stream Netflix (and other services) via Fire Stick.
MY ONLY SUGGESTION! Do your research on HDCP 2.2. I found out that hard way that my 4K receiver doesn't have any, so the only way I get true 4K content is to plug the player directly into my TV (which is why there's two HDMI on the back, one goes to receiver for sound the other to the TV).

Take the party anywhere with this Sony portable speaker. It's safe to use at the pool or beach thanks to an IP67 rating that allows total water immersion, and flashing lights add mood to the music. This Sony portable speaker's Extra Bass keeps things pumping, and the Live Sound feature provides three-dimensional audio.

Awesome sound, life of the party
on March 28, 2018
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
I recently used this speaker at a party with some friends and was surprised that it was such the conversation piece. My friends were commenting on the colors and "strobe light' effects and how they matched the beat. They are a nice touch to a party because they aren't too overwhelming. What I mean is, you look at the speaker and you have cool (but otherwise not serving a functional purpose lights) but when you look away, it's not like you're at the discotech and the lights are shot across the room.
Other than the obvious lights, this speaker stands out in a crowded market for two main reasons, the battery life and sound quality. I have been using this this bad boy for days (sometimes hours and hours each day) and it hasn't died. What I don't like about the battery life, but is simply a minor point, is that there is no battery life gauge on the speaker. You must look at your phone (assuming it has a BT battery meter, to determine the level).
This speaker packs a punch. I'm no audiophile, but the bass is tight and responsive. It's not too overwhelming. I've played all sorts of music through it and they all sound great. Classical and jazz sounds great too. The volume is astounding for a small speaker, this speaker can serve at outdoor parties and project across the yard. It has a "Live" button on the speaker which seems to try to represent listening to a concert, which is an effect achieved through some sort of sound engineering wizardry. I could tell the difference when using this mode, and I wasn't disappointed, I just didn't find it useful, I stuck to my native music.
Either you are a fan of the blue fabric look or not, and I like it. It seems like nowadays your stuck between the "rugged" speaker and some kind of fabric. This Sony speaker is a nice blend of both. It doesn't have the rubber shock protectors, but it is a fabric look and feel but is also rugged in its own way; water and dirt resistant. I wouldn't drop it in water, but it can handle the normal elements when using outside.
It also comes with a USB charging port to charge your phone, which I've never used, but is nice to have in a pinch. AS I said, the battery life on this speaker is amazing so it is nice to be able to steal a little juice for a phone in certain circumstances. It also has an AUX out port which again, I don't use, but I like having in backup situations.
My really only complaints are twofold and one is situation dependent. One is the length of time it takes to charge this bad boy. I've only charged it twice, and maybe I'm used to fast charging on my Pixel but man does it take a long time. The next is the size of the speaker. Clearly it's portable, but it's definitely getting to the medium to large size range that makes it teeter on portability depending on certain situations. I recommend seeing it in person so you can gauge it. For example, I wouldn't throw this in my luggage to go on a flight, but I would throw it in the back of my car during a road trip. And it also depends if you even own a smaller BT speaker.
All in all, this is a terrific sounding speaker made with the typical Sony quality. I've had no BT interruptions or skips yet (I'm not saying it's impervious to them, just noting I haven't had any issues) and the battery life is amazing. If you're looking for a fun speaker (i.e. the party lights) this should be at the top of the list, despite the hefty price. The quality in both sound and build is worth it.

A MUST FOR HEALTHY MOUTH
on March 22, 2018
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
I've been a Sonicare convert for years. I have been using the E-series (the cheap model) and it has been a blessing. You can immediately feel a "smoothness" on your teeth after switching to Sonicare from a manual toothbrush. So if you happen to be reading this and are on the fence about electric toothbrushes, if nothing else, get one, any one. But If you can afford it, this is the model to get.
It's easiest for me to compare my e-series to this model. The e-series is bulky in comparison, both in the handle, toothbrush head and the charging stand. These are not knocks, just observations. They both operate for two minutes and then automatically shut off. This is a great feature, you never have to worry about how long you're brushing the handle does it for you.
Now, in terms of straight performance (i.e. clean feeling mouth and teeth) I've already mentioned the noticeable difference between manual brushing and ANY electric toothbrush. But I must say, I could even tell a difference between the e-series and this ProtectiveClean Diamond brush. It performed even better. I could tell a difference after using it.
Now onto the distinguishing features. This toothbrush comes with different modes, cleaning, whitening and healthy gums. To take advantage of those modes, however, you have to have separate toothbrush heads. Putting the cost of the heads aside, this is a pain. I haven't used them, but I can't see myself switching the heads back and forth for the long term. Maybe if you're gums are sore and you use the gum toothbrush head, but that's it. I don't see how a toothbrush IN AND OF ITSELF can make your teeth whiter.
That feature to me, is a wash. But the toothbrush does have other nifty features (that require some thought to become muscle memory). You have 4 quadrants in your mouth (I'm not going to explain it, if you know it great, if you don't then guess) and the toothbrush vibrates indicating when you should switch to another quadrant. This is cool as it makes sure you get all of your mouth rather than say focusing on your back right molars because your right handed and don't think about it. But at the same time, it requires at least in the beginning, some mental processing because if you're like me, you don't typically brush your teeth in quadrants.
It also vibrates if you're using too much pressure. This is something that will pay off in the long run. My wife's gums are actually receding in part because she brushes too hard. Now, I can't say that this feature will prevent it, I would like to think it's supposed to. And if nothing else, it makes you aware of it if you're brushing too hard.
In terms of overall ownership costs, I was actually surprised that if you buy a 4 pack of diamond head brush heads, you are spending the same per head as the e-series. This was a big bonus for me because I do routinely install new brush heads every 3 months (via subscription on Amazon). It's about $10 per head which you should replace every 3 months, although this toothbrush supposedly tells you when to replace the head based on the pressure you use to brush your teeth and the frequency of brushing.
The one big knock is that it doesn't come with a travel case. The listing online might say it does (I thought it did) it DOES NOT come with a case. That's a big deal to me, as I take my Sonicare with me when I travel. The battery lasts 2 weeks plus, so you don't generally have to take the charger with you when traveling but you need a case for it.
Another plus is that the battery is replaceable. The e-series Sonicare, TO MY KNOWLEDGE, is not user replaceable. This bodes well for longevity of the product which is important when you are spending $120 on a tooth brush that you can get for 50 cents at the dollar store.
All in all, if you care about your dental/oral hygiene you need a Sonicare toothbrush and this model is as good as any. You could get by with a standard e-series, but I actually like the "smart" features included in the 6100.

Easy Home Security for monitoring
on March 17, 2018
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
I am heavily invested in a smart home. I have two Arlo cameras, smart garage door, smart lights, Nest Protect, Nest Thermostat, Google Home, etc. The Arlo is nice for security, but it is limited.. You get a 10 second clip when it detects motion and it can turn on (very) loud alarm. But I wanted home security that was a little more fool proof, or maybe a bit more comprehensive.
Simplisafe is a well known product, if you've listened to any podcast in the last 5 years, you've heard about it. It is designed to be plug and play. For the most part, it is exactly that. In terms of ease of installation, it really doesn't get any easier. You pull the tabs to hook up the battery connection for all of your devices, and use the included adhesive tabs to secure the items where they need to go.
For the money, you get a lot. You get six door sensors, two motion detectors, keypad, base, and keyfob. You also get some stickers and yard signs to deter potential thiefs. While it's a good deal, keep in mind that you will need to purchase additional items (more than likely) if you want comprehensive coverage. The entryway/window/door sensors should go on every outside door and window. I have a small house and have 3 doors that need coverage and 11 windows. So there's an additional investment. It's better to know how many additional accessories you need when purchasing the bundle so you are prepared to install everything at once on day one.
Back to set up. It's pretty straightforward and the setup guide does a great job walking you through it. I put all of the sensors in place and then took the keypad around with me to setup each device. It didn't take much time at all. I've read online (not from Simplisafe) that you should hide the base to prevent thiefs from breaking in and smashing the base which sends the signal to the police. I heeded this advice and put the base in a corner. While the keypad seems like the brains, it's actually the base, which communicates with all of the devices and connects to the internet via WiFi and cell signal.
While it is easy to setup, MY BIG COMPLAINT is lack of home integration (I don't think Nest Thermostat really counts). That includes app control. I'm not quite ready to invest monthly on a subscription service of coverage. That means, I essentially have a "dumb" but capable loud speaker when someone tries to break in. I decided that for now, that was all I needed to deter thiefs. But see, that means I don't have access to the app controls. I hear the app is basic anyways, but I would like to see some Google integration. I cannot really comment on the service it provides. I can assume it is capable, but again, I'm not yet willing to invest. When I go on vacation next, I will likely bite the bullet to make myself feel better.
I want to make one more comment about connected home and systems. Simplisafe can be pretty comprehensive. If you're just now getting into the smart home foray, you could purchase all Simplisafe devices (from cameras, smoke detectors, to water leak detectors). That is an intriguing option to me. The problem, this is just for me, is that I am already heavily invested in a smart home with other devices that don't necessarily play nice with Simplisafe. It doesn't mean Simplisafe isn't a worthy product, it's just for me, I find it difficult to invest in their cameras (which I would presume work well within their ecosystem) because I already have Arlo cameras. And lastly, I made a big deal about Google Home integration, this is only a small complaint. I really wish I could self monitor and receive text or app alerts on my phone without a subscription. Having that ability would work well within my smart home ecosystem.
At the end of the day, you just need to think about the smart home you have now (if any) and how this fits within that system. If that's not a concern and ALL you want is a security system with monitoring services, this would be a fantastic choice.

I ordered this online without seeing it in person and I was a little disappointed by how large it was, but the quality and ease of use more than made me forget about it's size. I use it for conference calls over video conferencing apps and it does an amazing job. Best of all, it's literally plug and play. Nice, bright, sharp picture, but loud
on March 15, 2018
Posted by: callmeageeth
from Louisville, KY
We use projectors at work a lot for mediation presentations. We show a variety of information, from PowerPoints, to PDFs, to videos all in the same presentation. Sometimes these are in our office, but often we take our equipment elsewhere. We were using a large projector and that was bulky and heavy. The first thing I noticed about this Epson projector was the weight (very light) and the fact that it comes with a carrying bag. I would have taken it without the bag, but man is it convenient for travel. NOTE: the bag doesn't offer a great deal of protection, so don't throw it around.
In addition to the bag, you also get a VGA cable, power cable, USB cable and remote. Missing is an HDMI cable, but luckily they're pretty ubiquitous nowadays so you likely have an extra laying around.
Set up is pretty simple. There aren't too many ports in the back, simple composite inputs (red yellow and white plugs), HDMI, VGA, USB A and B, and power input. Simple plug the power in, tap the power button twice and off you go.
This projector is advertised as 720p, but that's with a VGA cable. Using a HDMI cable gets you 1080p picture. I plug the HDMI cable from the projector directly into my computer.
Once the computer is plugged in and the power is on, it's time to adjust the picture. The zoom on the lens (or throw) is pretty good. The picture can extend out to 320 inches which is pretty large.I doubt you'll need anything that big, but it's nice to have. The picture is EXTREMELY bright and colorful. When I plugged my computer in, the desktop really popped.I was very impressed. I ran through some documents and videos and it was gorgeous. No complaints on that front. As with ANY projector, you'll want an alternative source for sound. While it's nice to have a speaker built in, in case you ever forget speakers, you don't want to use it unless you absolutely have to.
One thing I noticed though, this thing was loud and got really hot. When playing videos you can't hear the projector, but when showing still pictures in a quiet room, I found it to be distracting. Obviously all projectors make some noise, but this seemed a little too loud for me. Not a deal breaker since you get over the noise, but it was a little concerning at first.
This projector has additional features, which on paper sound good, but are lacking in execution. You can project images directly from your phone or computer. But there are a lot of hoops to jump through. It's not as simple as casting a screen on Chromecast or Mirroring on AppleTV. On my Android phone I had to download the Epson Projection app, then scan a QR code. But then it wouldn't work. After a number of tries it finally worked. From there, you have to control what you want to project through the app. So if you want to project a document fromyour phone, or picture, you have to navigate to it from your phone. There was a way to straight mirror your phone, but it was difficult to find and hard to explain. I hit a button and then a prompt showed up on my phone saying the whole screen would be mirrored. I watched a movie and scrolled through my phone, and while it worked admirably when I got it working, it was a hassle. And I don't want an additional app on my phone.
Projecting directly to the projector from a computer was even worse. I had to navigate the network settings on the projector, learned that you needed to turn the password off (the projector essentially creates an unsecured WiFi network) and then I could connect. Oh, I forgot that you have to download an extension on your Chrome browser, download Epson Projection software, and enter in the IP address of the projector (which you have to find on the projection settings). Yeah, it was a pain. When it does work, I'm left connected to the projector with no internet. So your stuck with what's stored locally on your computer and the picture was very grainy.
When connecting to your phone and computer, I was able to stream both screens to the projector at once, but I personally can't come up with a time when I would need that functionality. All in all, the networking features simply weren't worth the hassle.
At the end of the day, you have a light travel friendly projector that can produce a large, bright and colorful picture, which is an absolutely necessity for anyone needing projector. While the network features were blah (even though they sound cool) what really matters is the picture quality. Just remember it runs loud.

Just curious what the flight time experience has been like. Says 20 minutes with no payload; however, is the camera considered "payload"? Is it 20 minutes WITH the camera? Also, how close to 20 minutes is the "actual" flight time?

Given that the camera is required to fly I wouldn't think that the camera is considered payload. I've never tried to fly with any payload mostly because I haven't needed to and it doesn't seem equipped to hold anything (you would have to use some ingenuity to attach something to it). I can speak as to how long it flies without any payload but obviously with the camera. And in my use, it's been between 18-19 minutes of flight time. The very first time I flew it, it landed itself due to low battery around the 18 minutes mark, even though on the handheld controller, the screen said there was 2 minutes of flight time left. I haven't flown it enough while taking video/stills to determine how much that drains the battery. Hope that helps.

Yes, the bundle comes with the newest model camera. The packaging and promotions for the PSVR actually show the older model (which as I understand, will still work). This camera is completely different than the PS3 version.

Charge 2 GoPro lithium-ion batteries simultaneously with this GoPro AHBBP-301 charger that reliably draws power from select USB chargers, USB-enabled computers or GoPro wall or vehicle chargers (not included), so you can keep your camera ready for use.

Does this have the cable to connect charger to computer? Is there a cord that connects camera directly to computer or wall charger for charging? I think we lost ours.

It comes with a mini-USB cable which you can plug into your computer (I wouldn't recommend because of slow charging) and a wall charger. The same mini-USB cable plugs directly into the camera itself

Double check your specific Android device. Most newer devices accept it, I believe this card was intended for Android devices, but again, I know some devices only accept up to 64 GB card

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Tablet: The new Surface Pro 3 is in a category of its own. With a stunning 12" display in a sleek magnesium frame, Surface Pro 3 has all the power and performance of a laptop in an incredibly lightweight, versatile form. It may just be the ultimate device.

How do you read a full size sd card?

You would have to get some sort of USB adapter for a full size SD card. It only accepts MicroSD
