I really had no familiarity with the original release of this game in Japan, but have been pleasantly surprised playing through this myself. I really enjoyed Awakening, but hadn't gotten far into Fates. I am a few hours into this game and intend to play through to the end. I really enjoy the 3D dungeons in an RPG style and Permadeath can be disabled for those that fear the difficulty in this game. The story and dialog in this game are top notch in my opinion.

Great on Switch, even if you played it before

I bought this title originally on the Wii U when it released and it is hands down my favorite LEGO game to date. I love the open world, the characters, the story, and the play on all things TV show cop series. That said the game is not without it's faults, namely the long load times that make a return. But load times are slightly better and feature text dialog with commentary or gameplay hints. With this release being multiplatform and owning a Xbox One S and PS4 Pro, I decided to rebuy for the Switch. Digital Foundry did a comparison and found that the Switch version runs on par with other consoles at 1080p 30fps. The PS4 runs some segments of levels at up to 60fps but not consistently. The gameplay on Switch is great and two player mode is fun, even on the go. The enhanced edition looks beautiful featuring time of day lighting and enhanced textures, with the Switch having slightly lower shadow texture and reflection quality. There are even codes available to unlock the police cruiser and getaway car from the actual LEGO toys that were available in the first game. As far as new content there isn't really much to speak of, but the gameplay has been refined and plays great. Co-op mode is a big and welcome addition.

The box for this game is great and large, similar to how obnoxiously big the box was for Breath of the Wild Special Edition on Switch. This isn't a bad thing. The title is in gold leaf print offset by the matte finish of the rest of the box. The contents of the box are the game, beautiful art book, soundtrack, and pin collection. If you can get a hold of it this set is a great collectible for Fire Emblem or Nintendo fans and looks absolutely great displayed on a shelf.
The game itself is great and a slight departure of the other recent games. Permadeath is still able to be disabled for those who fear the difficulty of these games, but I feel the story telling has been improved and the 3D RPG style dungeons are a welcome feature in my book. I am really enjoying this game.

The versatility of LEGO Chase McCain has is pretty incredible. The Playset he includes is a scaled down version of LEGO City from the LEGO City Undercover game but has a lot of character missions and things to do. Highly recommended for the price.

These new cards picturing Mario and Luigi work well and currency when uploaded works across 3DS, Wii U, and Switch platforms on a single account. Codes must be entered on your console in the eshop as I haven't yet found an online method that works for loading the balance.

Best Mario Kart to date

I have been playing Mario Kart since the SNES days. Mario Kart 64 was the first of the series I purchased with my hard earned money from my first job that I played for months on end. I admit that having previously purchased Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U there was some hesitation in buying the new "remastered" game. But in all Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's seemingly small feature upgrades add a lot to the game. In my case the updates were well worth the double dip. If you've been away from the series and or missed it entirely on Wii U there should be no question on whether to buy (so long as you enjoy the racing, kart genre). But if you are on the fence consider the following:
-Eight battle stages with four modes. This was the greatest omission from the Wii U version that is rightly fixed now. The modes are great, with Renegade Roundup being the new addition and my personal favorite.
-Full 1080p 60fps on TV and 720p 60fps on the go. It ran at 720p 59fps on Wii U. So the game is sharper and very smooth running on the Switch. Multiplayer dips to 30fps with three or four players, but no different than Wii U.
-Best handheld iteration of a Mario Kart ever made.
-Double item blocks return, you can now get a defensive item and a coin or two defensive items. This really does make the game much better.
-New characters and karts: Dry Bones, Bowser Jr. Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl. There is one additional character that is unlocked by getting a gold cup on every cup available, I won't spoil it here. A quick Google search will tell you who it is.
-All DLC characters and levels included and unlocked from the start including 200cc mode. There is still a progression through racing and getting coins to earn kart parts.
-Local wireless, LAN (with adapter), and online play are all available.

So I bought this on a great sale as my kids love the movie, but it came in a very small box and the plush is only around six inches tall. So be aware of this. Apart from the very small size it is good quality and has a light sheen to it.
