after 40 years and over 20 studio albums, I'm surprised that Motorhead still has this much power and brute force left in them, especially considering that Lemmy will be turning 70 later this year. upon hearing the primal rock & roll onslaught of this album, you would never even know it . I salute Motorhead for keeping the flame of rock & roll alive for so long.
ironically, ever since Chris Barnes got rid of 3/5 of his band, he has been busier than he's ever been. 3 albums in 4 years is impressive enough, but to have all of them contain a level of brutality and vile horror that matches anything else in their catalog... well done. hopefully 6FU will keep it going with their next album that I'm sure we can probably expect in 2016.
just when I thought they couldn't get any better than The Final Frontier, they make the come-back of their career with an actual double-album of some of the longest songs of their entire career. after 35 years, Maiden still have not lost any of their relentless power with some solid songwriting and flawless production to match.
in my opinion, the first 3 Lamb of God albums will always be their best. nothing they do will ever top those. however, I will say that Sturm Und Drang (their 7th album overall, not counting the Burn The Priest album) is definitely the best record they've done since Ashes Of The Wake. that is for sure.
in my opinion, High On Fire keeps getting better and better. each album is more intense and fully realized than the last one. this one is their 3rd full length studio album on their current record label (Entertainment One music), and their 4th album with their current bass player, Jeff Matz. High On Fire shows no sign of stopping or even slowing down. highly recommended.
in the realm of extreme music, I think this album deserves to be mentioned as one of the top full length releases of this decade. Behemoth continues to evolve and advance their hybrid style of death & black metal into the future, as they further hone their art and their craft. highly recommended.

you would think that after 28 years of playing loud, fast, aggressive, pummeling music, that these guys would slow down, get soft, or pander to the mainstream... nope. not even close. if anything, this album is probably one of the most intense records of their entire career. there's no letting up from beginning to end, and this album does not disappoint.
the godfathers of thrash metal are back with a killer album, which features the return of vocalist Steve "Zetro" Sousa. this is their first studio album off brand-new original material in 5 years, and its clearly worth the wait. highly recommended.
