This release combines the previous separately released two parts of the animated adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns, and includes a documentary that focuses on Frank Miller's work creating the original influential graphic novel.
Does a good job adapting the source material to the screen, but can't live up to the original Frank Miller graphic novel. The original was ground breaking and influenced the entire comics industry, so there is no way this movie can live up to that.
Includes a great full-length very informative documentary about Frank Miller and the creation of the graphic novel - worth it just for this documentary.

What's great about it: a great story

this is a fun sci-fi film from the early '70's. the story idea is pretty strong, even though the production is low-budget compared to today's standards. Has a sort of "made for tv" feel.

hoped to get a little insight into the mind of a young George Lucas. He's something of an enigama to me - I love the first two Star Wars movies (episodes IV and V), American Graffitti, the Indiana Jones movies...but then there are the very disappointing later Star Wars movies, Ewoks, Jar-jar, the dance routine added to Episode VI...what gives? Well, after THX....I'm still confused. Still, it was worth a viewing, maybe even multiple viewings.
